Final Fantasy XV Windows will have official mod support

Wonder how deep mod support would be, would be awesome to see if Skyrim/Morrowind modders get into it.

Oh God the SFM porn I JUST CAN'T

Damn we got some sad weirdo's on this board.

OT: I stated in another thread that I was double dipping on this version in the hope for mod friendliness alone, and I gotta say I'm stoked. This game has incredible potential for a robust modding community. Here's hoping the optimization isn't as terrible as I'm assuming it will be. Squeenix's history though......

Yeah there will probably be a versus/kH gameplay mod

Though I bet the old schoolers will make a turn based gameplay mod

holy shit, fix summons and add this.......holy hell......it would even work because of mobs in the wild. You would initiate combat like you would attack an enemy in the wild.

I wonder if someone will mod stuff like Ch. 13 Verse 2 or Episode Prompto so that they occur during natural breaks in the main campaign instead of being accessed from the title screen

Heck, maybe someone can mod in more sequences from Kingsglaive, although I imagine that would be bordering on piracy

I look forward to the sex mods. You can use my fanfiction as a basis, mod makers.

I want my cid back,as male cid

....not terrible.

In all seriousness, it'll be interesting to see what kind of mod support it gets.

Woah... I have to give Square-Enix props for this one.

It is nice that they noticed how modding gives games like GTAV, Skyrim and the Fallout series such huge legs. Good on them for officially supporting it in their game!

I hope someone could make the E3 2013 combat mod available
Its look cool

Doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to turn that area into a battle arena considering it exists in the console versions and is kept for the pc port. You can fight goblins in it as you wait for the game to install but it disapears after instalation is completed.

Mod potential for games like these are like 50% of my hopes in such PC editions, and I am more than glad to have that sentiment upheld officially by the devs. With enough talent and devoted folks behind the strings, an ever-evolving FFXV could take on a whole new, grassroots meaning and I'm looking forward to it. ^^'

It pays to wait for these PC versions a lot of the time. Makes me wonder if I should finally dust off that PS4 for RDR2, or sit and wait for PC release that may or may not happen. FFXV I never really had any doubts about.

You guys are way too optimistic about this modding stuff. I'm expecting minor changes will be possible. Different combat systems and taking/changing levels in the game is unlikely.

The fact that it's going to be supported with some form of official utility is enough to have some optimism about it. I don't expect huge design overhauls to be possible (or the turn-based thing), but combat rebalancing, a lot of cosmetic alterations and integration of the DLC characters in the main game should be within the realm of possibility. Player-created content beyond basic fetch quests and new locations are kind of pushing it, but that depends on how extensive the provided tools are. Still, I think it's fair to consider it to have a little more potential than games that receive PC ports with no support or endorsement of mods whatsoever.

For you.

Well if you read the article, they want to offer as much freedom to modders as they possibly can, so I'd say it's actually pretty likely. And it would be pretty weird to have official mod support/tools and have them be so limited.

Pretty sure CDprojekt said the same thing for Witcher 3 editor support, and they didn't pan out too well. Plenty of developers have released mod tools over the past several years. Just because a game has official mod support, that doesn't mean it's going to anywhere as good as something like Bethesda's offering

And considering how much time they wasted working with their overly complex in house engine just to release FFXV, I'm not expecting modding to be easy.

My main excitement comes from the fact that the FF community is insane with fan projects, having official mod support can only be a good thing. At the least I expect some better outfits for the bros and NPCs, and some cool weapons. Of course, there will be nude mods everywhere too.

The Witcher 3 got combat overhaul mods with minimal support. You're underestimating the skill of dedicated fans.

So, I guess it'll be a battle royale between topless waifu mods and well-oiled shirtless husbando mods in 2018? =\
