Very interesting. I don't experience any slowdown whatsoever when opening new tabs, and opening the browser itself takes no more than a second.

What OS and system specs are you running on?

As for the address bar, a few folks have shown ways to revert it back to FF2, or remove the functionality all-together.

Vista, AMD64 3500+, and 1GB memory, with like 128MB taken by the onboard GPU. It's certainly no monster but we're talking an internet browser here. This computer has never had any problems whatsoever with a program like it does with FF3. Even big files in Photoshop run smoother than FF3 did...

As for the address bar stuff, I don't like having to deal with that kind of stuff. maybe I'd be more inclined if that was my only problem though.

is there an extension that allows me to right-click an image and have an option to automatically upload it to tinypic? there's one for imageshack, but not tinypic.

Alright I can't figure out how to do this, it may be an option somewhere rather than a specific add-on.

Is there a way to make it so that when you close a tab, it'll go back to the previously viewed tab (as Opera does) rather than only going to the tab to the left of it?

Hard to explain. Say I have 3 tabs open, and in the first tab I open a link to a 4th tab. If I close that 4th tab I want to go back to the first tab, not the third tab as it would by default.

Mac question -- Is there any way to click a link and have it open in a new tab when using the middle button (ball) on the mighty mouse? This works in safari, but i don't know what button to set the ball to in system preferences to get it to work in FireFox. I'm trying FF3 as my default browser for a little while, its the only way i'll really be able to evaluate it.

I was wondering the same thing, expect for Photobucket, also PicLens is awesome!!! It makes it alot easier to search Youtube and Photobucket ( when it doesn't cause Firefox to crash).

Hmm, well that's weird, because it hasn't been working for me. I like to turn off my notebook with FF on a page that I'd like to come back to, but since I installed v.3, it doesn't ask anymore.

But damn the new address bar is awesome beyond words.

I would also like to know this. Also, Ctrl+Tab shouldn't just cycle the tabs in the order they are in, visually, it should cycle the tabs in the order you last opened them, so you can Ctrl+Tab between 2 tabs continuously.

Same thing happened to me; your bookmarks.html file from FF2 still exists in your firefox app data directory, so just import that into FF3

Why are you using java to look at porn? or anywhere for that matter

i mean FF3 crashes when i have 5-6 windows open

and i use jave to trade stocks on a daily basis, that's very important.

I'm sure this has been asked, but is there a way to not have FF scan downloaded files for viruses every single time? Seriously, it's ruining my foreplay.

From this site:
Type about:config in the Firefox location bar and filter for the string browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone. The default value of that parameter is true which means that scans will be done whenever a file is downloaded. Setting it to false will disable the automatic virus scanning in Firefox 3.

The answer for you and the guy you quoted is tab mix plus. Has both of those options and about a billion more.

http://tmp.garyr.net/dev-builds/

The latest dev build should work on FF3.

Put it on my laptop on launch day, no problems and liking what I see. Still, sticking with 2 on other machines for now while seeing how that goes.

tab mix plus will also do it
Yeah, I did see that one, but the FF3 version is still awaiting approval from Mozilla I guess. Officially, it supports an older version of my browser. It's okay though since SearchLoad is working fine for me.

I thought FF 3 had a built in phishing protection.

But if you click on http://mail.bwys.edu.hk/ /bo.html or http://www.terraluna.nu/chat/www.amazon.com/gp/sign-in.html/ama/exec.php?cmd=sign-in

It goes straight to the page, but in Opera you see this http://i25.tinypic.com/2pyxmqv.jpg
WRONG

*edit*
IE7 reports it as clean :O

Ctrl - T, use it enough and it won't be a problem.

o_O

please elaborate... don't all browsers go to the assigned homepage when they're opened?

i have a question for you dear GAF:

in my Photobucket album clicking the "choose files" button doesn't bring up the usual browsing window, has this happened to any of you? or is the work of one of my newly installed add-ons?
So this isn't what you see?

If not this, what?

that same window used to pop-up in FF2, but not anymore for me.
it must be something wrong with my configuration since yours is normal...

It may be one of the add-ons you recently installed causing your problem. I haven't run into any problems when choosing a file to upload on Photobucket.

Somebody help me please, this shit just happened out of the blue. I tried reinstalling flash player and it doesn't fix it. I don't think it works outside of FF either, the Steam store page doesn't display properly either (just a white box where the scrolling thing used to be).

ok I just uninstalled firefox and the personal preferences things, the latter of which is important in the uninstallation. Flash works now. This shit just happened out of the blue, but luckily it isn't too difficult to restore everything (I didn't have too many extensions).

I'm not sure what happened, but I hope it's something one can fix in about:config, but I'm not sure what to fix in there.

I had this problem with FF2, and now FF3:

After leaving Firefox open for a really long time, Flash starts fucking up and I have to restart FF to fix it. When I goto youtube, it will only play for the first few seconds of a video. Other sites are messed up too, like comedycentral.com videos play all the way through but without sound. Anyone else had a similar problem? I've tried reinstalling flash to no avail.
