Firmware Version 2.00 - Official Press Release

So much bannage... ^_^;

Lame update! Only one of the things from my wishlist made it in there (playlists) and everything else is just useless to me. ;_;

On the bright side though, UPS called and said my fixed PS3 will arrive tommorow! Woohoo! Just in time hopefully for some Bust-A-Groove? Make it happen Sony!

What do you mean by really stepping it up?
I mean increasing the rate at which they add to the firmware. Although, admittedly, there's not really many specific things I'd like from future Xbox Firmware updates.

cros-game invites. Now THAT'S what I like about XBL. And I know ur not alone in your opinion, but I know I'm not alone in mine either. As for custom soundtracks: I've used it only in Gears.

I'd say, bottom line, if there is any reason someone would buy a 360 version over a PS3 version, be it achievements, first version released, in-game messaging, custom soundtracks or improved performance, Sony should be concerned about it and doing everything in their power to make their version equal if not better. To make a football analogy, it's quite like a division game... the stakes are high because every one you lose is one your division foe wins.

But what if someone is telling you your car is on fire?
So someone sees his car is on fire and, instead of knocking on his door, they run inside, turn on the PS3, log in and send him a personal message? :lol

I don't believe you took that joke seriously to analyze absurdity of that statement. :O

Yeah, it could be interesting what future brings, since they don't need to add a lot of missing features (but some would be welcome, like globalized clan support or at least easy to implement API for developers). They definitely have plenty to fix though. I think we'll continue to see 2 updates a year.

I just hope they officially create new themes and support people creating customed ones. also, it would be great if they can implement animated backgrounds and icons. I would love to see a 1080p beach breathing on my screen while I scroll around my XMB. and custom music in-game is fantastic. it certainly helps when playing mutliplayer or when re-playing something, grinding, exploring, etc. in a game in areas you already cleared- especially when the game's tracks are bad. MotorStorm's is extremely loud and annoying. I always have music on mute on that thing.

PS. in-game XMB and friends invite is the only main feature left to appear, imo. I hope it is coming with this update or at least very soon.

Who knows. He might be nerd enough to do that.

Sounds like just Photos and Music will be organizable at the moment. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Not all the features has been disclosed yet so who knows. Photos and Music refer to playlists.

Thank the God's, I have about 100 tunes on my PS3 and its all mixed up to shit!
fix your id tags. my tunes were automatically grouped and i can switch between organized by artist or album etc.

Don't underestimate the significance of the Remote Play turning PS3 on! It makes Remote Play a million times more useful!

Still doesn't make up for the lack of custom soundtracks though!

there might be a better way...most likely it involves a PC or 1 minute of effort when you rip your CDs

Well I guess I can re-tag everything on my Mac and stream it all back to the PS3.

this time around I won't bother posting again "Soul Calibur III still runs like crap on my PAL 60GB PS3 after the update"... BC improvements / enhacements R.I.P. since the introduction of PS3 40GB / ultra-slim PS2.

lol, the user replies on the video demo are so mean. I would feel like an asshole berating Lempel, he seems like a nice guy.

It's really a shame that there's no in game messaging yet. That's my biggest sore spot.

However remote play stuff is awesome, and the playlist stuff is awesome (it better come for PSP too).

Which is reasonable enough. Plenty of the people whining the loudest clearly are assholes.

I hope they add the ability to stick PSN games and demos into the new PSN Icon, its messing up my smooth Games section :P

I think PS Store is already smooth. Why people are so distasteful to the store?
Imagine how nice it would be to browse PS Store content like you browse the video/music/photo collection on your hard drive, with everything integrated right into the XMB. Instant (and coherent) organization, slick, smooth, no web pages to load or images to break, it would be very nice

The music playlist would be very nice if we had custom soundtracks to use them.

i already have ideas for wipeout hd and cod4 playlists. :D
