Firmware Version 2.00 - Official Press Release

The notifications are more transparent now as well. Scratch that off of my want list. :D

the people who makes custom firmware for the psp should have their pc fried everytime they plug it in.

It seems like with each .1 increase, we get more userbility. Can't wait for 2.1

updated flash for the browser by chance??

I don't think flash not being updated is Sony's fault.. It is the same reason Nintendo doesn't update their browser's flash. Adobe doesn't offer the tools needed.

Also the update did something it never did before. It restarted after installed and said updating databases, then restarted again...what databases?

god bless that "Sort by album" option for games. Made folders for demos, PSN games and PSX games. it looks so much cleaner now.

What happened to the disappointed people bitching about no ingame XMB? Sounds like their dev time still went into making people happy.

All of them are busy posting on the PS Blog.

Wait how do you make Game folders?

Oh and this air paint theme ROCKS, can't wait to see more game themed ones in the future.

HOLY SHIT!

Sorting by album rules :)

But how do you create a seperate folder for PSN games and demos?

You can separate into genres or anything you please, really :D

You half way answered your question. ;)

I just bought a PS3. Someone please help me.

Okay, so I'm downloading three items at once: the Folklore demo, the Heavenly Sword demo, and the Resistance demo. The Folklore demo is set to download first.

But I don't know how to download them! I go to my "download management" screen and it has the "download" icon next to all three items. So I click the one next to Folklore and the download screen for that item appears.

But it stays at 0%... Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: Oh, okay, now at 3%.

If I push the "perform in background" button, will I be able to play a game and have the items download like the Xbox 360 or no?

Actually, it was Macromedia's fault. But that was a while ago. Now that Adobe has them AND people give a damn, they're going to try to get it all out soon.

Yeah i did a stealth edit :D

Ohhhhhhhh you have to add an album tag in each individual demo, game, etc....

Goddamn I love how customizable this is :D

I got scared for a second when I first tried the WOL.

Right before it signs you in it asks you to PRESS THE PS BUTTON. WTF!

Then I realized you can press the Home button on the PSP and then select "PS Button".

Umm, how?
Go under info then change each and under ALBUMS change the name to something like "PSN Demos" for the demos. I now have mine grouped to PSN Games, Demos, Special, and PS1 Classics. Once you do all your content like that then hit the Group by Albums tab of just hit SQUARE in the XMB then things will be more streamlined for you.

It will continue to download until you go online, then the downloads will pause.

The server will be a bit slow today due to all the activity, and tomorrow its going to CRASH with Uncharted. Be prepared to spend an entire day downloading stuff. :)

First of all congratulations on your purchase. :D

Second of all you're using the background downloading I presume? You can only download one thing at a time. The other stuff stays in a queue. So if you wanted to download the Heavenly Sword demo first you would hit the triangle button and pause the other two. Once that one is downloading you can hit triangle and pick "Resume All". It'll keep downloading Heavenly Sword while the other two wait.

EDIT: Oh, okay, now at 3%.

Yes. As long as you don't play any online games. If you play an offline mode or an offline game, you will be fine.

The browser is great now, very very fast. It also seems a lot clearer now, anyways kinda boring update so far, love the browser. The information board sucks serious ass, really no point to it, they talk about a waste of ram and trying to cut back? What the hell is that thing gunna do? Anyways gunna try out some themes, hopefully there's a lot posted on gaf too :)

can you pick which item is the thumbnail on your folders, or is it just the first one you pick?

EDIT: It's the last one you pick

I already knew I could download one at a time but the other information was great. Thanks for the congratulations too, by the way. I feel... good :D

Great, so I can just pop in Ratchet and Clank and I'll be fine. Fantastic.

Anytime. :D

PM me your PSN ID and I'll add you!

Woohoo!
Just noticed that it didn't asked me to connect the SixAxis in one of the USB ports and press the PS button to continue...!! :)

How new are you to the family?

Try and download a video from the store, you can play it before it's done downloading. Unless it's been discussed already?

Videos on the PS Blog still don't work right on the browser. No biggie, just thought Sony would definitely fix it.

Yeah, me too. I though for sure it would be good to go, just get audio though.

Noticed that, too.

Everyone add me to their friends list if they have the space (NeoLeech) :P

Any themes up on the store yet?

Its better for casuals, say what you want, its a great idea

i believe it shows the last one you played/added. it would be nice if you could choose the image you want as thumbnail. well... there you have a new feature you could add in next fw updates, Sony.

it's really not though... I had trouble figuring the damn thing out, I mean it's really not informative they're better off with videos or demos on the store than that stupid thing.

I thought I may have been hallucinating on that one. I noticed that too.

I did:

-PSN
Demos
PS1

I added the dash in front of the PSN to keep it on top.

the themes are cool and all, and the remote play thing sounds great though I don't use it much, but I'm pretty much bored of this one already:lol . The internet browser is really the only important change for me, love it now :D

Well it appears the Wake-on-LAN feature puts the PS3 in a WiiConnect24-like status (as expected). In standby the PS3 is now actually on to a certain degree as you can hear the CPU fan barely idling. It's a very cool feature, but I'm going to disable it since I don't care for additional wear-n-tear on my consoles.

Features found so far:

~ Play trailers from the store while they are still downloading
~ Browser updated with a newer? flash player :D
~ Personalized game/video/music folder sorting
~ New thumb in PS Store and web browser
~ Store and browser are both much quicker
~ Info hub sucks (for noobs eyes only basically, just turn it off)
~ Sorting demos/ps1/psn games

Missed any?

Imagine how nice it would be to browse PS Store content like you browse the video/music/photo collection on your hard drive, with everything integrated right into the XMB. Instant (and coherent) organization, slick, smooth, no web pages to load or images to break, it would be very nice

U read my mind :) Thank you :)

new chat screen and refined menu

I never had a problem with the game and movie lists before but being able to organize them makes my XMB look really tight. I like it.
