Looks better, but still cheap because of the way all the plates overlay. Too much spacing, which makes it look like a suit. But still better.

Still waiting for the trailer to see how it turns out.

Seems to me they gave him a bit of a Blackwater feel.

Dumb poster, I don't even know what I'm looking at.

A new Braun razor.

Just as well I suppose

I still remember Canada's take on Robocop Tv series from the early mid 90s the best

When I was in India, I watched some Russian dubbed French Robocop show. I dunno if it was the Canadian show or what, but it was so goddamn terrible. The worst shot show I'd ever seen. Such terrible acting. There were two Robocops fighting each other and then one fell into some water and got fried.

It was amazing.

The canadian show was in English

Acting was fairly bad cuz it was made with a lot of canadian actors ya never heard of and it was at times, not big on violence and campy

There was never 2 robocops... I have the whole show on dvd

In the Canadian made miniseries, Robocop: Prime Directive, there was another Robocop, Robocable, who wielded two Auto-9s. I think that you have the TV series on DVD.

And the new suit, and ED-209 look absolutely generic and awful.

I know a lot of people are flipping out about the suit looking too generic/not silver/not sufficiently robo-like... but the thing that is even more important, the only thing that truly matters to me... is they better not friggin' make him retract his visor and talk to people with his whole face uncovered as if he's just some dude in a suit.

He's not some dude in a suit. He is half-dude half-suit.
I think that's what they're gonna do. Wouldn't be surprised if he's just a dude in a suit that enhances his human abilities. A true cyborg.

Also, HE BETTER HAVE HIS LEG GUN HOLSTER!!!!

How far in the future does this movie take place? The original suit did and still does look like the kinda cyborg tech we would see in the near future. This suit looks like space age stuff.

....Don't think so not even looks like something we have TODAY =P

Well that's more in line with something like the terminator but I see what you're getting at.

Still, Robocop was supposed to be something of a human tank that could even withstand rockets. If in the next 10-15 years they were going to graft a human head onto a humanoid cyborg body (for combat purposes) I would expect it to still be more in line with the original Robocop design. I guess for the new suit they'll explain that away with the old "newly constructed space age polymer" routine?

Edit: Finished thoughts

Probably will be even more generic than Total Recall.
Screenplays based on PK Dick stories should be exclusive for Verhoeven to direct. Spielberg is allowed to direct whatever he wants of course.

Len Wiseman is not a good director, though. Jose Padilha is.

I've never seen the original Robocop so I have no nostalgia for the franchise, but goddamn does the new suit looks generic. My first thought was that it's an ugly mish-mash of Iron Man and Nolan's Batman (fake edit: and it seems I'm not alone in that opinion).

I watched Robocop some time ago, and yesterday I watched Robocop 2. I still have to say this new design sucks.

The original suit looks so great in the movies. For example the feet. There was a real good close up shot in Robocop 2, and even the feet look great. Not too big, and nicely shaped. Yes, the sound effects are great as well. With every move Murphy makes. Look at the boots on the new design. Just doesn't look right. I'm also wondering if this new Robocop dude is actually going to move like he is a robot. Peter Weller did an excellent job with that. Even little things like the way he moves his head and stuff.

Actually he doesn't move like a robot, since he's human. He moves like a human trying to remotely control a robot.

Although I prefer the "OG" Robocop design, I'm willing to give this new one a chance.

One of my problems with remakes is how often don't offer an experience different from the original. It appears that this version of Robocop is at the least trying to be different and I'm not going to dismiss it yet.

Hell, I'm even hoping that Clarence Boddicker isn't even in this movie, what's the point of seeing someone rehash what Kurtwood Smith already did?

That fucking robe is cracking me up. I mean what are they trying to hide at this point?

Poor Padhilla. He can't win. He should just run away from this clusterfuck.

If they were smart they would have released official Robocop shots the moment they started shooting outdoors.

They were not smart, obviously.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I saw raw on-set photos of an actor in costume and it looked good. Like, ever. They're never flattering in any sense, to the actor or the costume.

So I'm indifferent on the suit right now obviously, I'll form on opinion when I see it in motion. As blasphemous as this may sound, I think the original RoboCop looked pretty terrible as well. The movie was awesome and Peter Weller managed to make it awesome, but I never found the original to be some bastion of amazing character design. I mean, the helmet/visor looked cool, but everything else just looked painfully awkward. I look at it now and think "Yep...that looks like something designed in the 80's." Granted when I look at this new one, I think "Yep...that looks like something designed in 2012".

I'm more curious if there will be any CGI enhancements made to the new suit.
