First Look at NEW RoboCop Suit

The colour is really bothering me, he is supposed to be a cop, not a fucking ninja assassin. Maybe the matte plasticky looking areas will be coloured later?

The only think the original didn't had of an armor was when he was without the helmet and the movement. We didn't saw the movement of this and it is completly understandable why he can have a way to see his face without showing his damaged body .... it would frighten the children =P

Pretty safe to say that we WILL see him without armor with all the gross stuff

Oh god. The right hand is either a thing, or a CGI replacement.

I have to say, it also bothers me that he has a human hand. Takes away a bit of the punch of his lost humanity and ability to feel.

Why does he have a non-prosthetic hand? THEY NEEDED TOTAL BODY PROSTHESIS!

but seriously, considering the work he's doing having a hand made of flesh seems like a liability.

Pretty sure right now we can be sure that the hand will be changed.

That looks much better than the previous stuff, but obviously a far cry from "good."

Whoever mentioned Dredd made a great point. I remember the helmet looking hideous in stills, but once I saw the movie, the whole ensemble was pretty badass.

Once again, taking the wait and see approach.

Yeah, I'm still willing to give it a shot. I'm sure it'll look cool in motion.

Hopefully, anyway.

I hope the right hand is just so he can scratch his nose and stuff while off camera and while they are shooting he just puts on the other robo glove.

Other then that he looks like a beefed up Cysis guy.

I'm not exactly sure how special effects work.. but @ those saying that his hand is going to be replaced with CGI, shouldn't he be wearing a green glove in that case?

Goddamn that just looks even worse. I'm still waiting for the first look at the finalized design in the first trailer. If it still looks like shit like that then there is no chance in hell I'll even watch that piece of shit.

People never like change when it comes to their favorite films. I agree that the new suit doesn't blow me away, but I'm not gonna bother judging it til I actually see it within the context of the film or at least official photos.

How hard would it have been to just do something like these?

Even the IronMan suit coloured silver would be better.

Those look pretty terrible IMO. In a way, I'd rather the director try a different approach and possibly fail than just cater to rehashing the original design for the sake of the fans.

That is what I didn't want them to do. Glad they didn't re-imagine the original suit. The only thing the new robocop has in common with the crysis suit is that it's black.

Well it's moved up the scale from awful to just plain generic. I assume there will be some type of visor. Please, please, have a fucking visor at least.

I hope this isn't going to be a case of Hollywood being afraid to cover the leads face. He's going to have the helmet on for an action montage when he first hits the streets, after that, we gotta show the hot leads face.

Those were just the first results on an image search for robocop concepts. They don't have to be those, just not generic black suit #297

I don't see anything wrong with the suit, if they are going off of a RoboCop based in the modern day/future. It's not highly original, but it looks about like what I would expect a damn robo suit to look in this day and age. If the film were a recreation of the time and era then I could see a problem, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Plus, these pics are a bit out of context since they aren't the full representation of how it will look on screen, in motion, and with effects applied.

It looks like a man in a suit instead of a robot and it's just geneic as shit looking. The whole futuristic armor suit look has been done to death already by games and movies the last 10 years.

I also kind of wonder if this will even be a hard r movie that's more than just a shitty cgi action film.

it's 2012 not the 80s the concept of what a robot is now is something a lot more humanoid. Hell that's even what real robotic engineers seem to be striving for. The original RoboCop suit was iconic, but it looked like a Cyborg too, it just looked like an 80s cyborg. He looked like a VCR.

I've only seen the pictures and haven't heard much about the story/production of the film, but just based off of the suit/keaton pics, this looks like it is going to be an action movie and not a satirical deconstruction of society/unions/corporations/television that was the original Robocop, so my interest is muted beyond belief. If I wanted the thrills of a generic action movie, I might as well just take a hammer too my foot; it's a response, isn't it?

Lets be honest, the original Robocop was still an action movie at heart. Even though it had all the social commentary, most people loved it because it had awesome action sequences and to see this unique character kick ass.

His concept of the film doesn't come across as a generic action movie, but who knows if any of this will make it though.

So is Robocop now going to be massively mobile? The old Robocop was iconic due to everything, the way it looked, the way it moved and spoke.

It looks like they've ignored all that and made another Iron Man. No more heavy plodding down the street sticking 3 round bursts into all the bad guys with a gun ejected from his leg.....

He's supposed to according to the script have like four different suits throughout the movie. Last one is supposed to be blue

Pretty basic makeup actualy

I always wondered how they made it look like his face was plastered onto a robotic head.

They put the mechanical part like a helmet and then make the transition with fake skin and makeup in a similar way that this classic cut makeup

Simple effect or not, this is still a really impressive makeup job. They really did make him look like a machine with a human face stretched over a metal skeleton.

As for the new design, I'm not digging it yet. It looks generic and off. I don't know, maybe I would have to see a clip of it on film to give a better opinion. But ehh...

But one think I noticed is... they did solve Murphy's disappearing chin guard.
