Flower (PSN)

So what is it that makes this game fun? Is it a fun game or is it just fun because of the visuals? I don't really understand. maybe I just have to play?
It's an experience like no other. The visuals the sound and music are truly amazing. The game kinda tells a story without words. You just have to experience it, it's hard to explain. I figured I'd play one level and I ended up playing the entire game in one sitting. :lol

Dunno, maybe three hours?
Didn't get all the special flowers in my first run through so I've played around 4 hours now. Still need to get all the special flowers on the final level.

I can definitely see myself putting some more time into but the initial experience alone was easily worth the €8, if I'd known how special it was I wouldn't have minded paying more.

I hope they release the soundtrack for free on PSN. It's so damn good. :D

Undoubtedly the audiovisual experience is a core element though, it's testament to the impact AV can have in producing something that's really potent. You couldn't really make as strong an experience without it.

Exactly what I thought while playing as well, especially during the last level.
And one of the reasons that kept me playing was curiosity. In the beginning, I thought it would "just" be an experience, hitting flowers to hear sounds but no real reason to do it apart from just doing it. But soon it became quite obvious there was something tying everything together, some kind of coherence in where you go and what you do. That's when things get interesting on a higher level IMO, and contributes to creating a very memorable experience in the end. :)

Like every other game, it isn't for everyone from what I can gather. No game is for everyone. I am sure people will get it be like, "WTF is this?"

I clocked it first time in a little over than an hour, with a tiny
TROPHY
break. But the replay value is very strong in my opinion.

Completely stunning. A beautiful and magical experience.

It's like nothing else and a true sight to behold. When I`m playing I didn`t even feel like I was holding the joypad. You just get into the game and you feel like you are one with it. The visuals and music are all breathtaking.

It felt like I was playing inside a painting which came alive the more you played. And all that`s just the first level. Truely amazing in every sense.

The only thing that's missing from the experience is smell o vision and the wind in your hair.

I`d also love for this game to have a screen capture. When you`re reminising the levels, there's just so many shots I want to take and put them on my desktop. Lovely.

Ah...I feel better now. Thanks.

I just saw alot of people posting about it and figured...it's out. There are ALOT of the people ahead of the distribution curve here. O.o

It's pretty good in places but it's very slight and I can't imagine myself replaying it for a long time. I personally found there to be a conflict between the concept of the game (controlling the wind and soaring through the air) and the actual gameplay (skimming along the ground quite slowly so you don't miss any flowers). My favourite bits of the game were when the game let you cut loose and soar majestically and exhilaratingly through the air without having to scour big open fields for a tiny group of flowers. For example the second half of level three was what I really wanted to see more of.

Level four was gorgeous but I found level five quite irritating. Level six was euphoric in parts but I would definitely hesitate to compare it to something as fantastic as Rez's final level like some people have.

I told you, you bastards!

I'm really, really glad you guys are digging it as much as I did. Such a beautiful game on every level.

wow, level 6 is the greatest anti depressant ever. This is the best game i've played all year, and the most original and inspired in a long, long time.

The trophy "Beginning" how is it attainable?

Pretty sure all you do is get to the end of the first level.

Overall I probably put 5 - 6 hours into it after 100% completion. I really took my time the first time through.

I got it by opening all the white flowers in the area which reveals a bunch of blue flowers (1st level). I think there's 2 of these to revel plus a "hidden" bunch. Make sure you explore everywhere, don't just follow the "path".

On the level select screen there was 3 blue petals in the flower pot and the flower was fully grown.

Interesting point. I didn't really feel that way since whenever I felt unsure about hitting a line of flowers I'd let go of the X button and redirect myself, I did forget to do that once or twice though when I became caught up in the moment. That happened in the second half of the 3rd level, actually.

I've only played the first level so far but this is a very nice surprise to me. Beautiful graphics, presentation and music. Can't wait to continue. Might even attempt to acquire all throphies for once.

I've just discovered that if you let go of the X button for a few minutes in the middle of a level the game will do that screensaver thing similar to Burnout Paradise. Really neat.

edit: Actually you need to put the pad down, I think.

You can also press select to make it go into screensaver mode ;)

This game's pretty sweet. 100%'d the first flower my first go, going for the second now.

The music/sound effects are very similar to what's found in flOw (so far, at least).. very soothing and the graphics are beautiful. :D

Please don't tell me I'm the only one who was moved by the last couple of levels. I mean, my eyes got wet and I'm not even sure why.

Edit: WTF
a clock alarm was ringing in the room and someone smashed it
:lol
