Forza Horizon's soundtrack is the best licensed collection I've heard in years.

Beyond stoked that they're doubling its size.

Burnout Paradise runs at 60FPS.

No high horse. It's just my preference.

Unfortunately, no.

Sleeping Dogs, the SR series, and Crysis 2 are the only open world games I have on my PC that I play frequently. I have plenty more, but I just don't have the time to get through them.

Crysis 2 is very, very far from open world.

60fps would be nicer but never had a problem with 30fps racers. PGR, Horizon proved it works fine and is still fun.

This is open world as well.

I will be amazed if they manage 1080p with AA and that lighting.

it does?

Both are 1080p/30
both have developers emphasising 'real lighting'
both have developers talking about 'atmospheric modelling' with clouds etc
both have real star constellations
both have referenced PGR in regards to the handling and gamplay
both have car clubs
both have talked about not needing to be great at the entire race - you can be good at a section and still do well/earn points/XP
DC is constantly comparing your performance against friends etc (like an extended version of motorstorm RC); FH is always online with lots of social stuff
Both are set around real world locations
Both developers have ex-Bizarre guys working there.

Other than that, we haven't seen a ton of detail on FH. To me they have more in common than they have differences.

Except the one huge difference.. Ones open world and ones small linear track.

I wonder if this game will get dogged as much as DC has been for being 30fps.

People are pretty sick of the issue, but it does disappoint that it is 30fps. In the end, it probably won't because all of the bitching that went into that was powered by months if not a year of superior specs being touted by Sony, devs, and fans constantly reminding everyone of the difference. People call the X1 an underpowered, overpriced system relative to the PS4, so let's see those exclusive first party games show it off when they have no excuses. That's a big part of why it's more disappointing for any big and new PS4 game built for a system with an oft-cited ~30-40% advantage and Sony guys telling people that 1080p/60fps will be heard together often.

Native 1080p, 30fps, and all the lighting talk has me excited as hell. Well, that and the amazing details about the game itself of course. No barriers, seemless transition with online, "kudos"-like style points adapted from PGR.

Sign me the hell up.

I microwave steaks.
I'm fine with 30 fps, forza Horizon looked AMAZING on the xbox 360. And when I looked in comparison to forza 5, I was unimpressed. They definitely had to make some sacrifices getting that game to run at 1080p 60fps.

Oh, and more music, that is fucking awesome. The soundtrack they had in the first game was grand, really got me into some new songs/artists.

Suddenly it doesn't matter because but but open world but but weather. A 30fps racing game is a 30fps racing game. No excuse people come up with will change that.

Yeah and no excuse that people will come up with will change that it's only 1080p. That's how facts work. There's that whole "people don't give a shit" thing that the rest of us have going on though, 1080p/30fps is just fine.

According to your played games list across the PS3 and 360...you've played a TON of 30fps games.

Heck...you put a truckload of hours into games like Borderlands. I'm pretty sure 30fps is NOT a big deal to you ;).

Oh, but it is a big deal to me. The only reason I put up with consoles because of financial issues. Now that I've made the jump to PC, and we're on a new generation of consoles with good enough specs that it could do 60 for a lot of games, is it wrong for me to set standards for what I want to play?

keep in mind that those games were played on old, aging technology that's been around for YEARS.

I like the Forza series. I've yet to play Horizon because of my feelings regarding 30FPS (and because holy shit it's still $40 brand new jesus christ.) The Forza series has always been 60. You can understand my frustration when switching from one thing to another.

Also you shouldn't take my game history seriously; I play shit games.

I loaded up Forza Horizon last night and it's still beautiful and runs perfectly well so as far as I'm concerned everybody crying in this thread can suck it.

Day one.

The physics/response times in Horizon runs at 60hz (double the framerate). It's considered one of the best examples of 30fps without the delayed response felt in other crappy arcade racers that do run @ 30fps.

If you ever get the chance, try it out.

Trust me, it makes a difference. I absolutely can't stand 99% of 30fps arcade racers, but have sludged through them in the distant past.

Agent Icebeezy

Welcome beautful toddler, Madison Elizabeth, to the horde!
Someone should ask about the controller response time. Only Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit has a better response time on controllers than Forza Horizon for all 30fps games that they've ever measured.

but breh

it's 30 dollars ;~;

But I'll give PG credit where it's due; not everyone can boast a locked framerate, let alone 60fps

I played a little bit of it and it definitely played more smoothly than most other 30 FPS racers I've had the displeasure of playing. If Horizon 2 works the same way I guess I can stomach the framerate. But they really should know racing and fighting games are the only two genres that really ought to run on 60 FPS.

Crossing Eden

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
30fps is the tradeoff for open world, dynamic weather, and FULL dynamic lighting. I'm ok with this as long as the game itself is varied and fun.

I guess you never visited The Order, or DC thread then.

60 fps helps a lot in a racer. Nfs rivals was unplayable for me at 30 fps. But that also could have been because of the controls.

I am wary of 30 fps for any racer now days but I wouldn't call it unplayable.

The order is perfectly fine at 30 fps. Unless you are running really fast in the game lol

if you've made the jump to PC and you're getting acquainted with it then let me ask you something

why would you even buy an Xbox One or PS4, knowing where they're at tech-wise, and expect 60fps throughout the generation

are you out of your mind

I understand people who desire 60fps above all and we're going to have so many shit threads throughout this generation from people who are just flabbergasted that these consoles won't be able to pull it off all the time. Not you in particular but I can see it now. When 30fps becomes the average maybe people will see these weaksauce consoles for what they are... absolutely the most modest jump these consoles could have taken in terms of power, fresh off the heels of the longest and most drawn out generation. It's something the fuck else.

there are I think more racing games at 30fps than 60fps on console. So if you're a racing game fan, surely you're used to it by now? I can understand being disappointed, but presumably you'd get over it pretty quickly as 30fps is the status quo.

It was the handling, IMO, and not the 30fps for NFS Rivals. It turned me off even if I did succeed and play further, I just couldn't get into it because of those controls and that highly simplified feedback.

They confirmed a Native 1080p image.
That quote does not confirm 1080p native though, that is you filling in the blanks.
It very well may mean it is native, but there is no absolute confirmation it is native.
Just that it is outputting at 1080p.
There is a difference.

Any news on the X360 version ?

I loved the original but i went for the PS4 instead of the X1, glad to hear it will be out on the X360 as well, even if it's the same res & frame rate as the original i will be happy.

The ratio of 60FPS games getting announced is getting bigger over time. Games I want, on both platforms, are 60fps or will be 60fps. There are exceptions that I will be getting like Sunset Overdrive, but when I buy my Bone/Ps4/Wii-U, It'll likely be for well performing, high framerate exclusives. The exclusives will most likely hit 60. Is it wrong to think otherwise?

It won't be forever...or find it used somewhere for dirt cheap :p

It regularly goes for $12-$18 online.

Probably will be as it is using the same modified F4 engine that FH1 used
