Could it be that the car in the back, red on white, is a Supra GT? looks like the one that was in FM2

Let the GT5 comparisons begin...........now!

Well, there are no GT5 PhotoMode shots to compare with.......... yet!

Still, it will be very intresting to compare, no doubt there.

Loving the SuperGT models (it will always be JGTC in my book) and I can't wait to see and HEAR them from interieur :)

Speaking of interior sound. I wonder how detailed it will be. Will a racing transmission give that wonderful whining sound when accelerating? Will it be muffled in a realistic manner? etc.

Forza 2 tracks had great detail, they could easily reuse them all but with new textures.

Game looks fantastic, only thing that is disappointing to me is only 8 cars on track, I was hoping for at least 12.

It's not actually trolling if you don't admit it
More screenshots from this series coming all week long. :D

Also, article on FM.net going up this morning about the cars.

Anxiously awaiting the JDM list. Mid-90s RX7, Supra, and GTO better be on that list, but if the Fairlady is missing? Insta-suicide.

Datsun 510 pics would be a nice contrast for this JDM set. :D

please? :D

Animator. Respect knuckles.
Subaru SVX please. I had to sell mine a few years ago and have been going through withdrawal. :(

The new screens look great, I can't wait to play this again. I'm looking forward to weekly Paint-N-Race competitions with my pals once more.

I wish someone would make a thread to put all the Forza Vs. GT shit in.

I can't wait to play this I hope they have put something in to help my game style as I always abandon the career and start begging for cars & just play online.

Turn 10 doesn't have the balls to put this car in. I bet GT5 will have it.

I know a guy who actually owned one of these in perfect mint-condition. He got it as a part of some "I-own-you-he-owns-you" deal and he didn't know what to do with it. Guy owned him 30.000 DM (Deutche Mark, approx. 15 000 euro) and gave him his brand new Evo instead.

It was a bargain of all bargains.

He drove it for a year and than he got rid of it because he was getting too much attention. He sold it to some German guy for 40.000 DM, earning 10.000 in transaction.

Today he hates himself.

I don't get it. What car is this and what's the big deal?

The Inside Track
There is a small (mostly business) games show in southern France right now, and Snoopers was there and captured some more 60 fps footage of the two missing tracks (one from E3, and Le Mans), so expect some nice stuff tomorrow evening or on Thursday :)

Is there a Mercedes EVO I am unaware of?

Edit: Yes there is.

The red roller coaster in the background has been gone from the park for about a year now.
So yeah, che or anyone else from Turn 10 reading, forward that to the team and delete it from the game.

It's already up and running in a park in Brazil now: http://www.rcdb.com/id1224.htm

Wow, nicely spotted.
Now what are you gonna do Che, now what are you gonna do...?

I unfortunately can't check on this computer (web filter), so maybe this info is widely available, but does anybody know if the Toyota Matrix in this (or GT5, for that matter)?

Would love to be able to race my little commuting car. :D

Quoting this picture again because it demands that sort of attention...but also because I have a question!

With the infield so nicely built, are we going to be able to move the photomode cameras outside of the track barriers?

I'm not asking to be able to reach behind the stands, just something closer to a spectator's perspective, or through the branches of a track-side tree, or something along those lines. There are so many times I'm taking shots in racing games when I feel so confined because of the invisible wall around the track.

although, I could think of a few great shots from that ferris wheel

RSTEIN

Comics, serious business!
Shots look phenomenal, Che. That Mazda shot approaches GT5's photorealism. Track detail is unmatched.

Has anyone seen a complete list of all the "tricks" that photo-mode does to improve the screen shot quality?

I know that it swaps in higher poly car models, and it obviously renders with lots of extra effects and anti-aliasing, but I was wondering if it also does stuff like:

  • Replace car textures with higher res ones
  • Replace environment geometry (i.e. track detail) with higher poly versions. Or maybe just turn off the lower detail models that are typically swapped in for far away objects.)
  • Swap in a higher res skybox
It seems like they should do all that. I mean, why not? I'm all for better car porn. But at the same time, it would probably be wise to remember that we're looking at the output of a (very nice) "bullshot" generator. There's nothing wrong or sneaky about that, but I'd hate to see a backlash (Here? Never!) when the in-game experience doesn't quite match the prettiness shown in these shots.

(I'm not bagging on the game, F3 does look significantly better than F2 did, and F2 wasn't half bad itself. I'm buying F3 day one.)

The official JDM Pitpass Report is up now at FM.net.

This is great. With new car and track reveals every two weeks, plus bonus screenshots and other coverage on FM.net during the off weeks, Turn 10 is really going above and beyond as far as showing off the game's content.

People really don't have an excuse to bitch about what and how much they're showing, but I'm sure a few still will,
myself included if I don't eventually see a Zonda F
:)

Major props to Turn 10 for this kind of coverage.

Go watch some in-game videos. Plenty of them around.

All of those denials are fairly good to hear.

Unless of course you've called it "Cinemode" or something... thus getting around any accusations of Photomode cheatery. :lol
