Great pics overall, but this one...
Eh. Looks fake and plastic.

Apex is pretty cool. I like the race points system. Wouldn't want it in lieu of the standard Rivals system, but it's a neat way to compare your campaign performance against others.

Nice that there's 1,000 Forza points too, which should get me to Tier 8 in time for FH3.

I'm having an odd issue with Forza Rewards. I'm not getting credits, but only on the original Forza Horizon and every other eligible game is fine. Has anyone encountered this issue before? I've tried moving my data off the cloud and deleting the title update.

I'm missing out on those 40k bonuses, man!

No, but 2 months ago the Forza Hub Win10 app showed that I got 14 million credits rewarded that week each in FM5 and FH2. I had this again in the same month, but never actually booted the games up to check if it just showed wrong numbers.

And in FM6 the rewards are kinda meaningless ever since they changed the level-up spin rewards in December - I posted statistic diagrams in very late December last year in this thread about it. I'm sitting on 30+ million unspent credits at the moment from ~120 level-ups since late November when I was at zero credits.

Forza Hub is acting a bit weird today, so if this just a one-time issue, I'm sure it'll work itself out by tomorrow.

If it's been going on longer than that, not sure, and I don't have a 360 to test it.

I may get that pack at some point. I love having some sedans, might eventually want that Cadillac.

While there are definitely still a bunch of cars that I wish were in the game I'd say overall Forza 6 probably has the best car list ever at this point.

I only really wish it had more f1 stuff. We got all kinds of f1 tracks but only a few cars. we still have the few years old lotus while Assetto Forza gets a 2015 Ferrari.

Love the '64 racers in the summer pack, but this close to Horizon 3, I think I'll pass on this one. Nice touch at the end of the video showing off Horizon 3. So pumped for that.

Thanks for mentioning Apex on Netflix Shortt. I have something to watch tonight.

Have you seen that SF15-T? apparently the DLC comes with a manual to operate all the modes and recovery stuff on that Ferrari
I started watching F1 regularly again and I have the game and the pack, but the two Ferrari F1 cars are the only ones that I haven't touched. Zero interest in driving F1 cars after 1991 in a sim, I don't like the feel and no sim comes anywhere close to getting downforce, brake cooling tyre heat up(through track and brake disc heat transfer), wear, fade, throttle response, slipstream air influence on engine, brake cooling and downforce etc. etc. right.

Only drove the Forza 6 Lotus E23 once as well, but somehow I'm more interested in driving a modern F1 car in games that treat them as "hey, check out this super fast ridiculous bullshit... have fun, mate!" like Forza 5 and GT 5 & 6 used to.

I mean Kunos has a partnership with Ferrari and supply them with Assetto Corsa PRO for preparation purposes of their racing department, so they probably get good data to get the cars and systems right, it's probably all really great, just not for me. I bought the pack for the old Maseratis.
Btw they announced yesterday that they have the same partnership they have with Ferrari now with Porsche too and will make the simulator for the Porsche museum. According to Marco Massarutto, Porsche said that they are fans of Assetto Corsa when he visited Stuttgart last week.

Right on man, its good shit. Nothing really new for most car guys but it is a very well done documentary with some good stuff from people like Chris Harris, Mike Spinelli, Kkoenigsegg, and others.

I'm just getting back into Forza 6 and have a quick question. How is the Nascar pack? I loved the Sierra/Papyrus Nascar game's.

I've enjoyed it for the most part, but I'm not sure the Nascar vs. the World approach will really fill the traditional Nascar itch.

I'm not a big Nascar guy and have to admit I've had trouble with these cars, but they also feel like nothing else in the game, which is pretty cool.

It's not a NASCAR sim. Just three car models with a bunch of team liveries and a new track. Much of the career has you racing on unrelated tracks and against other types of cars.

I enjoyed it, but would recommend the Porsche expansion.

You're right, I didn't notice and just assumed it was the same as forza 5.

I still wish the only modern f1 car in the game wasn't a midfield lotus.
Actually the Forza 6 Lotus is totally overpowered with ~960hp(if I remember that right). That's the absolute maximum of what is assumed the Mercedes can put out and the Forza Lotus doesn't need to recharge /has full power the whole time.
I'm a pedantic idiot, I know

I enjoyed it. It was really well put together. Didn't know about the One:1 issues with benchmarking. That was a bit of a let down. The best was the amount of car porn in it. Good stuff.

Finally got that Back of the Pack mod. All it took was a year!

I've lost count of how many packs I bought to finally get that fucking thing. I first got the one that sets you in the back with no rewinds or some shit, it's kinda stupid that that mod doesn't count towards the achievement.

Agreed. Not sure why T10 never patched that in. Seems like a no-brainer.

Yeah, it's not like they're that much different.

The worst is the one you need to do online, which is all down to the luck of getting set at 24th THEN having to weave through the clusterfuck of online races.

Need some quick advice, so any responses appreciated!

I love PC sim-racing but have always adored the Forza Motorsport series on Xbox 360 too. I skipped F5 because...yeah. It looks like Forza 6 is the true sequel to Forza 4, but I was always weary buying the console just for one game. Tomorrow, though, I have the opportunity to buy a newish Xbox for quite cheap.

I'm wondering how the Thrusmaster TX gets on with the game? It's pretty make or break as I can't (won't) do racing games without a wheel (to each their own and all that), so I either need reassurance or a bunch of people to say it's shit.

Compared to PC sims (R3E, Assetto Corsa, rFactor 2, Dirt Rally, Project CARS, Automobilista, etc) it has really bad force feedback. It doesn't compare well to GT6 either imo. It feels mushy, there's very little center feel, and the wheel doesn't self align properly. There's also the left pull bug that affects some TX wheels where the FFB will pull left if you have vibration set above 20. That glitch has been there since launch and they'v never bothered to address it.

You can do well with a wheel if you really want to play the game with one but it's clear the game was made with a controller in mind first with wheel support being an afterthought.

I don't think there's a better console racing game to play with a controller, I just wouldn't recommend buying a wheel specifically for this one game.

Yikes, that doesn't sound good. Tbh, most of the TX-related feedback I've read has mostly either been along the lines of "it's decent, I can live with its quirks" or "it's total garbage and doesn't work". I don't think I've seen anyone praise the TX with this game.

I usually set FFB low anyway so I'm not too bothered about that.

I just don't want to buy it and end up regretting it, or force myself to play out of principle and not enjoy myself.

I guess I can always sell the Xbox for a profit if it doesn't work out since the one I'm eying is daylight robbery. But that means I should get a second-hand copy of the game instead of the Ultimate Edition like I was planning to buy.

The TX is a damn good wheel, I just wouldn't go with the TX standard rim and buy a GTE or even better a 599xx Evo steering wheel add on for the TX base. Even the standard rim is not cheap garbage though, it's just that the weight is too low which makes it feel toyish.

@terrible is right that there is very little center feel and the point where the forces get stronger is not really related to side-bite or camber-thrust or self-aligning torque. It's capable at communicating "this is as far as you can turn, buddy, before I'll start spinning" or "understeeeeer!", but it comes off as "game feedback" and not as "this is how that car would feel". There is also an effect that feels like lag: The in-game steering (wheel and telemetry degrees of input as well) doesn't react as quickly as your actual wheel movement. If that weren't the case though, the car would be even touchier than they already are, which is very unrealistically touchy (you can spin quite a few cars at zero throttle and zero brake input by steering sharp and sudden) - this is not how you experience the cars with a gamepad in Forza where other systems are at work that judge how much input left-stick-fully-to-one-side will be for the car (speed-sensitive steering and slip-angle sensitivity for example). The more sims I play, the more frustrated I am by Forza's handling model and FFB-feel, but if I had the choice between gamepad and wheel for beating someone's Rivals lap time, I'd 100% - not even need to think about it - with using a wheel.

That being said, I think that Forza 6 is a great game, it's just made in a way that allows it to have a ton(!) of cars, to look fantastic and to play great with a pad ...all while not alienating just about any kind of player. It's a bit like the Fifa of racing games
why am I saying this, I hate these comparisons
.

If you get another game like for example Assetto Corsa or DiRT Rally (or pCARS, just mentioning, not personally recommending, at least not on XB1) alongside your XB1, TX and Forza, you can't really go wrong.
get Assetto Corsa! *wide-eyed excited nodding*

The TX is what I use in PC sim racing already. I feel like I communicated my previous two posts badly because it seems you both think I don't have the wheel yet. :p My only reservation is the mixed feelings I've heard about its performance in Forza 6: the left-pulling bug sounding the worst and most frustrating. But if it's avoidable by limiting the vibration setting then maybe it won't affect me.

I also have Assetto Corsa and do like it, but I prefer R3E and iRacing. Haven't tried pCARS but I'd probably get it PC if I ever did. Xbox is my Forza haven and nothing more...I'm just not totally sure if it's worth it.

But you have reassured me somewhat, Tyler, by saying that you'd unequivocally choose the wheel over pad, despite the game being tailored for pad use.

The track selection is also a big pull for me: no fewer than 16 of the included real-world racing circuits are among my favourites to drive in other games.

How boaty does the game feel on a scale of 1 to 10? With 1 being NFS Shift levels of awfulness and 10 being, let's say, Assetto Corsa.

"Boaty" for me is "sluggish", bad turn'in response, car feels like it's steering from the center instead from the front wheels... like locked 50:50 center differential AWD with a ton of toe-in...
Forza's FWD car's feel really good, modern and precise(except that it doesn't model sport eDiffs), AWD cars feel like from the early 90s (not terrible, but not as they should either) and RWD cars a lot of times have you afraid to turn the wheel because the rear may snap (at least on simulation steering). It got better in the december patch, but since ~april it got worth again for me, don't know why, there was nothing in the patch notes.

If I were you, I'd wait for a Horizon 3 demo on windows 10(the last 2 Forzas had demo versions before release) and see if you like the feel with a wheel. Even if your PC is not up for it, maybe 720p on low settings will be enough for testing the FFB. FFB in FH3 won't be too different from FM6.

Is FH3 coming to Windows then? Apex also doesn't have wheel support (for now), otherwise I wouldn't have even started asking.

Tbh I've been weighing it up all day because I'm not totally convinced, so I think you're right that I need to test it first.

I doubt it'll be bad, but I need it to be pretty good. I just need some certainty...at the moment there's just too many question marks.

That Ford Cup stuff that's happening at the moment has finally tipped me over to playing a racing game online. I don't know why I was so hesitant. Managed to win some races in the Formula Ford rather easily in Grassroots as people spin a lot so now I'm into Elite going into next week's car. Only problem now is that I feel like I can't get going in the GT at all. I just see AI accelerating by for days. Any tips?

Yes, if you buy digitally you get it on both platforms. Wheel support for UWP was enabled in the windows anniversary update. Wheels that should be compatible once the apex update hits are

They really did it... I'm... wow.
Not to belittle anyone with that remark, but I'm a little proud of Microsoft and Turn 10 for supporting last gen and PS4 wheels. Hope that puts some pressure on Sony as well with that stupid Fanatec support shenanigans.

You should repost that in the console peripherals wheel thread.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. But even if not, it gives people with a G27 who would love to play Forza the option to upgrade their PC instead of buying a console they might only want for playing Forza and a new wheel they don't need for any other game.

Posted with some extra info, my reading of it is it basically stands as is with old wheels in that the XOne won't support them.

Okay, I have sort of a crazy idea that I want to run by ForzaGAF real quick.

Last weekend the wife and I did an awesome Road Rally down in Southern Indiana. Each team had a driver and a navigator and the navigator had to read the directions/clues and tell the driver where to go. All while driving quite quickly on the roads. It was an absolute blast and it got me thinking.

I now want to try something similar in Horizon 3 with ForzaGAF. I was thinking that the course is created ahead of time by someone and then they only send the directions to the navigators right before the race. We split everyone into teams of two, where one person spectates and tells the driver where to go. Each team is in their own party chat and the race is basically the drivers trying to drive fast while listening to the navigators about which road to take and where to go.

It might sound more fun in theory but I thought it could be an interesting "one off" event to try.

Any suggestions or criticisms are welcome. Just been wanting to try something different with Horizon and the group.

I'm not sure how you make that work, but I'd give it a shot if you can clear the logistics of it.

But this is ForzaGAF, so you'll probably end up with someone giving you bad directions for laughs. :p

This is sort of what I was thinking:

* I (someone) creates the route before hand. Watches mileage/landmarks for where to turn and what roads to take, etc.
* Everyone finds a partner and we split into teams
* The navigators are sent an email or a PM with the directions/route info
* Everyone joins the lobby together at first and then once the rules are explained and all the shit is ready everyone goes into a private party chat with their driver/navigator.
* The navigators all go into spectator mode and watch their driver
* When the race starts, the driver has no idea where to go except for where the navigator tells them
* We could do staggered starts and go by time or have everyone leave at once and who gets there first
* It is about both speed and the navigator being able to explain the directions

If you have ever been in a road rally, it might make more sense but I feel like I could flesh it out better if people are interested. Just wanted to do something different and new with Horizon since we always seem to do the same type of races.
