I've had coffee served in the traditional Ethiopian style... and you don't use a French Press to do it. Not that French Presses aren't great though.

I've been thinking about grabbing one of those for a while. How do you brew your coffee? I use Chemex and just need something that can do a consistent grind for that when I'm feeling lazy on Saturdays.

I use a French press, so I put it on the max size for the grinder for that. I also use a Moka pot sometimes, in which case I put the size at about 1/3 the way. Works great.

I've been brewing these every Saturday while I sit down for two rounds of DOTA.

I'm hooked on beans fromm this shop local to my job in Washington Heights. They ship and I highly reccomend.

That looks like some good coffee, actually. I may order some from them soon. My favorite has been from my hometown, Jittery Joes. They sponsor a pro cycling team as well.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
Buying a shit grinder for 30$ isn't going to make your fresh beans much better than folgers. French press isn't going to help much either.

Yeah, that isn't true. I've had folgers in my regular drip machine, and I've gotten good beans that I grind in my $30 grinder and make in my french press, and there is no comparison.

That Tanzania Peaberry looks pretty good. I might have to order some from them. I get most of mine from http://www.topecacoffee.com/ and https://www.theroasterie.com/

Also, not really coffee related, The Roasterie has the best hot chocolate on earth.

I go to their shop every time I'm in Kansas City. They even let you select how they brew your cup so I get French press when I'm there and it's amazing. Way better than my French Press does...

I always get the Blue Tawar. Amazing.

It's really good, the Terrapin Depth Charge is also a really good espresso roast. It's named after the Terrapin Brewing Company in Athens. Honestly, all of their coffee is really good.

Heck, I'm sure all the freshly roasted coffee in this thread is good.

Alternatively, you could get this $30 hand grinder, which is what I use. It takes about two minutes, and if you're already doing everything else yourself, why not grind too? Like a boss.

I used a hand grinder back in the day (not this exact type), but I would unscrew the handle and use an electrical drill to crank it. Could grind to espresso-grade in 30 seconds, so for french press I would expect less than 10.

Dear god. This is brilliant. Mine doesn't even need me to unscrew anything to do this--the handle just sets down on top and has a basic square inlet. =O

Another vote for Aeropress. I used to french press, but can't go back now. It is sp easy and I feel makes a better coffee.

Love this poster I found:

You Aeropress modern kids. You have no appreciation for art!

i must purchase one now

BTW French press people, I just realized, if you use filtered water in your boiler. Even better results :)
