Game Grumps (aka Egoraptor plays some games)

Aww, I kind of like Suzy. But I don't know if I can handle an all Suzy channel. I know she already has Mortimer but eh. I'll stick with the GameGrumps channel and the spinoff GrumpOut. Where's this promo? I didn't see it with today's videos.

I don;t know if they ever did a promo, but she's had her gaming channel (KittyKatGaming) up for a couple months. She's currently doing what seems to be a full playthrough of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

This is my opinion as well. She had a good thing going when she was the voice of reason - read the fucking menu - but now she's just trying to be funny when she has little experience doing so. Maybe she'll find her tempo eventually like Ross but I won't be watching her stuff until then.
 
I like Suzy, I just think it's weird that she has her own thing as well as Game Grumps. But I guess she's not on Grumps that much so it's cool that she has her own thing.
 
I got no personal issues with Suzy (I don't even know her, so I kind of can't), but she's not funny in the slightest. She's just boring. She's either barely speaking while the other Grumps are being wacky or (in the case of being paired with only Arin), doesn't create an interesting dynamic at all (with the arguable exception of Plants vs Zombies because they were all sleep-deprived).

But she's not an entertainer like the rest nor does she make for a good dynamic with the others like the other non-entertainer, Barry. She does makeup tutorials, so it's whatever.
 
I really like Suzy on Table Flip, but I'm not a huge fan of her on Grumps. The only exception that comes to mind is the episode where she and Arin played Puzzle Fighter - that one was cute. Other than that, she sort of blah on Grumps.

I will probably check out her new channel though, just to see if I like it.

Well technically speaking Egoraptor, Jontron, Dan , And Ross. Have their own things, its just that two animators aren't animating much anymore. However Egoraptor still does other stuff jon got back to his thing , Dan is a comedian musician and ross is a professional " my significant other gets on reaity tv " person. Not to mention barry's other video game related ventures, that has been documented. And who knows what the hell Keven does.

Everyone has their own thing.Why would you do one thing? that's setting yourself up for failure if that youtube thing ever blows over. Its like those people who cover one game and then that community dies and then their channel dies. Diversify your bonds

A lot of higher up Game guys do other stuff now. Jessie cox is regularly on geek and sundry and nerdist stuff, total biscuit is a commentator and heads e sports teams. Dodger is a sort of news and entertainment personality. Matt of the super best friends has started to do movie stuff on the channel, mark gets to be mark in places for a living. You do that thing to expand into other areas, you don't want to be known for one thing.

And on the flip side a lot of non video game dudes have been getting into games. Diversify.

It's not that Suzy has her own thing, it's that she has two of the same thing. She already has Game Grumps for let's plays so I just thought it was a bit weird that she would have a second channel dedicated to LPs. But as I said she rarely appears on Game Grumps so I understand her wanting to have her own thing where she LPs games alone. She's probably sick of Grump fans shitting on her in the comments whenever she appears in a video so now she can do her own thing without having to deal with that abuse.
 
The only reason why I don't like Suzy is because she tries waaaaaay too hard. I mean, it shows she wants to fit and and shows shes trying her best, but it just doesn't work.

I don't hate Suzy. I just really don't like her. If I knew her in real life, she would be the type of girl I would avoid like a plague.

Huh. Judging from the videos on the channel so far, I wonder if Suzy's channel is going to cover mostly 3DS games. It would fill that one missing niche from the Grump Cabal.

Watched a bit of Animal Crossing, because I don't really get Monster Hunter. It was okay? I don't think I'll go back soon, though. Maybe in a month or two, when she has some different games up.

If she exclusively covered the handheld games, I'd be much more inclined to subscribe and follow her channel.

But please let there be variety and not the overtly social stuff like Animal Crossing.
 
I said it awhile back in the thread, Suzy is not a very charismatic personality in videos. I don't want to say she's not funny because I don't know her in real life, but she does a bad job of presenting her personality in video form.
 
Animal Crossing is a game I'd kind of want the Grumps to sort of play as an ongoing thing. Arin and Danny of course. Just something they throw up an hour of every month. Just keep playing once a month and doing random shit and talking podcast 🍔 style.

Ummm, it's Arin. He pretty much constantly has gross opinions and had even had to delete episodes because they're so shitty. Not really sure what you expect from him.

I wouldn't read too much into an off-handed comment and making noises about the design of a cartoon monkey child.

Also, it's not like he's devoid of mental disabilities (severe social anxiety and ADHD IIRC), so I doubt he's devoid of empathy for people with them even if he'll joke with his friends on a let's play show where the point is to just hang out.
 
I'm enjoying the shit out of the Mario 64 play through.

I'm also enjoying the shit out of Donkey Kong Country 3 though I'm sad they gave up on 2 back in the JonTron days. That one is my favorite.

Also the Bonk play through is really good. "Why are all those things inside that dinosaur??"

It doesn't bother me enough to send him a charged tweet, but it is rather frustrating when someone intentionally does or acts demeaning to a group of individuals who aren't well equipped to defend themselves.

Translation: I think it's demeaning, but I don't think Arin is aware enough that he's being overly demeaning.

I gave up on watching future DKC videos from them when they couldn't figure out how to climb the walls in the area they quit on. Entirely frustrating.

I hope they don't give up on Bonk. Arin seems to be loving the crap out of it. Danny keeps saying it's coming to an end. No way. Keep going. You can do it.

Also, GO BACK TO STARTROPICS PLEASE FOR CHRISSAKES! They only got like halfway through and didn't even get to the whale yet let alone the hermit on the mountain. Chapter 5 is awesome. I really want to see it. I hope they return to it.

A guess on my part, but I assume he's talking about how some time last year, Youtube changed their search and recommendation algorithm. Instead of looking at the amount of views a video got, they instead changed it to the amount of minutes watched. Ideally you should try and make your viewer watch around 10 minute minutes of content per video. This is a good way to filter out clickbait titles and thumbnails, but it's a huge problem for artists. 10 minutes of animation is a colossal amount of independent animators, which I assume is what Ross' thing is about. Musicians also struggle with this, but at least they have the benefit of selling their work, which is of course not as evident for animators.

Either way the end result is that shorter videos do not really have a chance anymore to get bumped up in Youtube's recommendations and search results.

I used to be one of those GG viewers who got irritated at Arin's shenanigans when playing video games but with Mario 64 I've kind of just started accepting it and enjoying it.
 
You know it's amazing what random internet shit can do for you. I've been having one of the worst few weeks of my life lately and still - through an emotional fog and terribly shitty mood - This beautiful sumbitch right here - had me laughing out loud almost crying at my desk at work.

Shooting the brains and "ARIN WINS" especially hit me somewhere deep. Godamn tis funny.

Ross sucks too much. I'm done with donkey Kong. I was excited to see one of my favorite games, oh well.


Aaron and Ross is by far the worst pairing, of all. I don't know why they always do that instead of Dan now.

I agree with this. To be honest, I skip most videos with Ross, unless it's with Danny playing a point-and-click. Every once in a while they have a really good episode with him, (FTL, Super Wagon Adventure, Guns of Icarus,) but they are few and far between.

I actually am realizing now that to me, Danny is kind of the star of Game Grumps. Arin and Danny are great. Ross and Danny are pretty good. Arin, Ross, and Danny are (usually) great. Take Danny out of the equation, and the episode usually sucks.

It especially sucks because it feels like Danny isn't in much other than the mainline GG videos lately.
