Game plummets at the end, I mean, who the hell thinks that a stage of a platformer on a handheld should last more than an hour??? Stupid design decisions everywhere. First 4 worlds where fine.

No Mega Man Star Force, No Mega Man Battle Network, No Mega Man ZX, no Mega Man Zero collection. Only one Phoenix Wright game, no 999, Ghost Trick and Okamiden get the bottom of the list. No Meteos.

Story was shit and some of the character designs were beyond goofy, but FF Tactics A2 had the best gameplay in the series.

I would have picked the better balanced Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, despite the reduction in content over Dual Strike.

List is awful, Why is PW TT above PW1? Why is NSMB there (should be Super Princess Peach instead)? Zelda PH is average, has it's moments, but not list worthy. Where is 999? Where is EBA? Why the fuck is Korg there??, not even a game. At least they got the best version of AW...
FFTA2 should be killed with fire, awful series.
Castlevania OOE was a thousand times better than DoS.
Okamiden has no business there.
Shantae Risky's Revenge needs to be there
Never played Super Scriblenauts, but the first one was the disappointment of the generation.
Hotel Dusk is missing.
Such a great handheld...
I found the gameplay to also be shit (and tactical RPGs are my favorite genre), but to each his own.

I agree. But that's pushing for GI's audience. Elite Beat Agents would be the proper recommendation as it is fully localized.
Mainstream magazines never endorsed Japanese only titles. They know they have readers who don't import or even care to import niche Japanese titles.
I still remember for some reason becoming increasingly confused at the complete lack of a compelling main story until I finished the game. I literally beat the final boss and was expecting... like... him to be the beginning of a chain of escalating actually-i-give-a-shit-about-the-story-now.
Say what you like about Marche, at least he had a goddamn interesting story.

Some weird cool games that you probably haven't played that didn't make the Top 25 but that I'd recommend: Barnyard Blast, Big Bang Mini, Boing! Docomodake, Contact, Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ, LOL, Treasure World, Yosumin.

FFTA2 is actually a really neat, meaty game. The aesthetics aren't quite as bad as FFTA1. I agree that both games are very slight in comparison to FFT, but this criticism reads like a criticism of FFTA1 applied to FFTA2 by someone who didn't play the latter.
