The Medium.....jesus where do I start? Runs like fucking shit even on a 3090 and a 5950x at 3840 by 1600, with black borders cos god forbid they make it work with 21:9 aspect. It jumps from sub 40% gpu usage to 98% at the drop of a hat, while the cpu usage never basically gets above 8%. It's utterly terrible performance wise if you turn on all the bells and whistles (and why wouldn't I before anyone starts, it's a flipping 3090). I eventually turned down the RT to the middle (On) setting rather than ultra and capped it at 30fps. It still had framespikes whenever anything remotely dynamic happened on scene. The poor performance ruined the game's flow and momentum too.
It looks like crap too. The RT doesn't seem to take the lighting conditions into consideration at points in the game (late on it's night time and the puddles are reflecting the area, but with what appears to be daylight lighting). The characters look photoshopped onto the scene due to the horrible DOF effect they employ. Everything is blurry.
Gameplay wise, the puzzles are stupid....oh I need a valve handle to open this valve.....five steps left....oh there it is. Every single puzzle feels like this. Otherwise it's walking (or fast walking if you prefer the jog) through a drab environment. Then we have to cut holes in some flesh bag shite to pass through, which takes forever to perform as the PC cuts through it.
The only thing it has going for it is the sound design is pretty good and creepy. I'll not go into plot details in case anyone wants to play it, but I don't personally think it was anything to write home about.
