Thread closing in ..... wait till the official update next week... as many are saying expect preorders right after...
What are the chances Nintendo lowballs their initial supply yet again and not all preorders are fulfilled?
I was in a gamestop yesterday before they closed and asked about switch preorders. They said something about having more info on the 12th. Which just happens to be the day Nintendo has its showing.
I'll just walk into Wal-Mart and grab one off the shelf on launch day
Should return the cash. What happens whe you pay more for a preorder than his retail release price? they return the difference in money, products, or they completely ignore it with the excuse that you should be happy for securing the console at release?
Nel caso in cui il prezzo sarà inferiore verrà rimborsata la differenza.
Was that about the Wii? HahahaI don't think enough members are old enough to remember this joke but I do.![]()

You asked an entry level gamestop employee for information nobody has and they gave you an educated guess that anyone could have come up with. It's not a coincidence or inside info.
People keep saying Ness amiibo like the fire emblem amiibo didn't come out the same day.Yep but at least my gamestop takes down names in order we arrived and lets us get preorders in still. Sadly the problem with the ness fiasco was just that it took forever because they were trying to use the system which was running slowly and eventually crapped out. So while you still will probably get your preorder it just might take a while. Still really annoyed that one of the first people in line was a mom that called her kid up at the register just to ask what he wanted. Just completely wasted time to get more orders in before their system went down. But yea get there early so maybe you can get your order in before the computers start slowing down.
I asked about this at my local store and they said that preorders would go live on the 12th after the presentation FWIW.
Fuck you.
Love how crazy people still are from that phase about the nx threads popping up every hour lolI asked about this at my local store and they said that preorders would go live on the 12th after the presentation FWIW.

Well, 2 million units WW at launch is a known quantity, depends on pre-orders really, I expect shortages personally, then it comes down to how fast they can fill the channel and how long demand lasts.
OP gave me a heart attack this morning as I live in the US. I saw that our pre-orders should be live on the 13th, so I used some time off work that morning to grab one. This post made me think I was going to miss the boat. Damn you OP.
It depends on the retailer. Generally, a retailer using a placeholder price won't "charge" you for that price, but they'll still put a hold on your card. In that scenario, they charge the actual price once they know it and the hold goes away. I don't think I've ever seen a scenario where they let you put down say $999 in cash.

Didn't Kimishima say that they are able to manufacture more than 2 million for launch, if it's needed?
At retail stores, they do not put a hold on your card or anything like that. You generally just run it like a real transaction, charging your card for whatever amount (whether it's a nominal fee, or a larger down payment). If for some reason, you put more money on the reserve than it ended up running, you'd just get the rest of your money back.
It would be hilarious if Nintendo didn't allow for pre-orders in the same fashion as with NES Classic. Imagine the shitstorm.
You can preorder it at GAME here in the UK but they have a £999 holding price lol.

There was also another retailer taking pre orders for £200. Not sure what happened with that.
I'm a Prime member so I'm hoping I can get a nice, easy online pre-order through Amazon.

I have about $300 from trading in snes-n64-GameCube-Wii-gba-ds lite so it's only fair I use that money to buy the next Nintendo system
GameStop will probably do it the following day after the direct , same with Amazon , target, wal mart, Best Buy

Same.
Nice!👍🏾Ditto, but because I need two of them: one for myself and one for my wife.![]()
Weird, I went into GAME a few weeks ago and put £50 down. Apparently that was enough to keep me one.

They're gonna fuck up the launch just like they have with the Wii, Amibos and the NES Mini.
Not really an advantage other than the potential for day-1 shipping or at least fast shipping. I guess it's more about being a frequent Amazon user than anything else. Why do you think having prime would be an advantage? Unless you are in a prime now area after it's out maybe..

They probably haven't forgot the so called WiiU.They're gonna fuck up the launch just like they have with the Wii, Amibos and the NES Mini.

If someone is still not so sure about that price being a placeholder, at the end of the Gamestop page it says "if the price is smaller, we refund the difference".
Or it could be like the Wii U and there are tons of units on the shelves.
