GameTrailers Best of E3 2010 Awards

xir said:
This is going to sound douche-y but I don't mean it to be: if Portal 2 was obviously going to be released on PS3, why wasn't L4D or L4D2?

Exactly. Valve had given no indication that they were going to start developing for the PS3 and EA had recently indicated that they weren't going to port Valve games anymore. So there was no reason to believe that Portal 2 was coming to the PS3.

I know why gamers are complaining about the graphics category but honestly these gamers should really get over themselves.

Kirby got picked because there was nothing else like it graphically and the sheer amount of (brown and grey)fps games this year is laughable.

Is this really necessary? To advertise a website and give resonance to what a couple of kids working for it think of the E3 games? A whole topic for it, with no purpose of discussion and no arguments besides fan wars and fan camradrie, and some more cast-your-own-vote sadness?

Es muy nessicito!!!1!!

So gametrailers felt like Move is like Me Too of the Wii, and didn't get nominated for most innovative, but Kinect does? :lol

(note: I'm arguing that neither of them is innovative, not that Move is (cause it isn't))

Yeah I don't like how they nominated hardware in general for most innovative. It should've just be limited to games. And I don't know how echochrome 2 got overlooked for that category

I don't know how Zelda could be disappointing since A) We knew nothing about it beforehand so there really wasn't anything to look forward to in the first place, and B) it worked.

Was the demo disappointing? Definitely. The game though? Nah.

They said that it's disappointing because there was nothing particularly new about it. It's just Zelda with improved motion controls. But that doesn't make it a bad game which is why it was included in the action/adventure category.

I think in the end they'll be proven wrong, but yeah, there's no sense getting bent out of shape over E3 Awards. I think the demo simply didn't showcase what Nintendo has likely done to revamp the formula.

Zelda was definitely disappointing. That HUD was massive, taking over 50% of the screen real estate, I totally agree
I've said it once and I'll say it again, if Aonuma and his Zelda team don't step up their game they'll never catch up with the rest of Nintendo. Zelda was hyped before E3, Kirby shows up and steals EAD's cake. Not to mention Koizumi and the Tokyo team who continue to reach new heights while Aonuma keeps fucking up. The new Zelda is almost 4 years in development now and all they had to show was a short tech-demo it was a pretty tech-demo but still a tech-demo making a fool out of Iwata who said that Zelda would certainly launch in 2010.

How about we wait till we've seen more of it before denouncing their efforts?

They did say that they thought it'd end up being a great game. The only thing that they really seemed disappointed in that might not change is something that they called an "intentionally blurry art style".

Zelda sure was disappointing. But most disappointment in the show? Nah. At least the art style was and the controls were great. Kinect on the other hand. From the price to the poor line up :(.

Zelda will be fine. Even if you're going by their awards, it was nominated for best action/adventure.

Happy to see some praise for Other M. There seems to be a good game hidden behind the cringe-worthy cinematics. I spaced out during the cinematics at E3, but enjoyed the game bits I played.

Oh well. In time, they'll probably love that too. You know, once the Zelda after SS is released - 'Where the hell did our Impressionist Zelda go?!'

I seriously cant understand the hype for RAGE

watched the E3 demo a couple of times, it just seems so normal to me, both in looks and gameplay

oh well

I find this one a bit impressive, actually. Assumed LBP2 would kill almost anything for multiplayer.

Most disappointing has got to be Rage from id software. The game might have the best console visuals but the demo was boring as fuck, but then again after Doom3 I shouldn't expect much from id, they are not what they used to.

I didn't hear that. The reason they gave was because on top of the demonstration (which they can forgive) they don't like the art style.

The only time they mentioned they liked the controls was when they nominated it for Best Action/Adventure. But they never said anything about the formula getting old or that they found it to be too much of the same.

Well, obviously, but doesn't everyone usually ignore the PC? I assumed this was a console conversation.

that's weird. it was only a controls demo and that had been really changed up. we know nothing about the entire rest of the game (dungeon progression, overworld, whether or not the game will have voice acting).

I thought goldeneye was way more disappointing, just because it's much closer to completion and despite the additions, it feels way more dated.

well that's different then. i'd've watched it myself, but the videos aren't loading for me.

From the "Most Disappointing" video

"Link's 1:1 swordplay was the most impressive example of motion control at the show. But we failed to see any real spark or innovation."

Get used to it, along with Visceral and immersive.

I don't have to get used to it. Outside of GAF, I never visit these gaming sites. To hell with their fetishistic love of buzz words.

Oh. Well, then in that case, that makes sense. Yeah, it was disappointing that it was only what it was, when past demos and many other demos at the show were of complete versions of the game, but I'm not sure if the E3 build will be in anything other than E310.

Yeah, they said that after it lost but it wasn't why they put it up for most disappointing.

I'm sorry but Kinect and Move both failed to be truly innovative compared to Zelda's game.

Castlevania HOD sounds a lot more like a big steaming pile of poop. THat shit's a disappointment.

Zelda SS innovative? :lol

We were slashing with the Wii Remote in the last Zelda. This time, we get closer 1:1 movement that actually works. That's not innovation, it's improvement.

I feel like GT tried too hard on the 'Most disappointing' list. None of those things are particularly disappointing.

The most disappointing thing about E3 is that publishers have basically given up on doing downloadable E3 demos. Of course that wouldn't appear on this list since they were there, but it's sad that publishers aren't putting up demos anymore.

I think I remember them saying that the E3 demo area was made specifically for the event. So yeah, won't be in the final game.
