Gaming Purchases You Regret NOT Making

Didn't realize The Simpsons and X-Men arcade were delisted. TBH, they don't hold up very well, especially the former. They're really only fun when you are plaing on an actual arcade machine with friends... But having said that, the local arcade bar has both and they see heavy play.

Yeah, I've tried playing The Simpsons outside of the arcade with others...it's a pretty hollow experience.

Not sure if this counts but Rocket League comes to mind. It was free on the PS network. I saw the video and said to myself "this looks so stupid" so I never downloaded it. I ended up playing the game at Pax and it was great. I am kicking myself for not D/L it.

Another one is the fable 3 controller. I did buy one for myself but I should have bought another one to resell it.

When I was a kid, I had and loved my NES. I had all the games, I was way into Mario, Zelda, etc. I rented all the movie games: TMNT, Jaws, etc. I had the game genie, I spend hours trying random codes. My dad and I spend many fun weekends playing RC Pro Am and Guerrilla War.

And then there was a new console generation! What? I had no idea console generations changed. Brand new hardware that was supposed to be even more amazing!

So Christmas was coming, and my parents asked me what I wanted. A new game console perhaps ;-)?

This was probably my first big consumer purchase decision of my young life. The NES was already my most expensive and valued toy.

And.... I said I wanted a Sega Genesis :_( One of my dumb friends was talking it up, so I said I wanted one too.

I never owned a SNES and I wanted one for like 10 years after. Hell, I want one today! I still used my Genesis, and I had fun with it but I don't even really like Sonic.

I saw a Dreamcast in GameStation for ÂŁ25, probably would have been about 2002 ish. I didn't have the money on me to buy it, being a kid at the time. Now being older I wish I'd bought it back then.

Wii U - Haven't picked it up in a while but when I do I still have a blast. It's still the only current console I've couch co-oped with the wife and it's a wonderful experience.

Bloodborne - Never played a Souls game prior to this. Was afraid I made a mistake within the first half hour of getting slaughtered but kept pushing and learning the mechanics. Ultimately came to love every aspect of it.

I should've jumped on to buying 360 and PS3 games as downloads right away instead of converting my collection later. It's been a very expensive process.

Speaking of which, if I had gone down that path I wouldn't be trying to cram all this Collector's Edition bullshit under my bed right now. I would've had more space, more money and more time because I wouldn't have to store all this garbage.

I mean, this Bioshock 2 vinyl can fuck right off.

Buying a PS3 and a ps4. In many ways the systems feel redundant. In hindsight I wouldn't mind swapping one out for an Xbox

I regret not picking up Rule of Rose and Haunting Ground for cheap on the PS2 back in the day, they are both well over $100 nowadays.

I rented Suikoden II and had my mom take me to Toys R Us to buy it after. It was $50 and my mom was hesitant and the guy working there recommended Suikoden for $15 so we bought that instead. I ended up buying Suikoden II for $100 later on. Oh well Suikoden was still great.

I also regret selling Haunting Ground for $20-25 before it skyrocketed. This however was because of value and not because I liked it. I was able to rebuy it for about $30 in the last year.

Kinda sorta regret not picking up Bayo2 when it had the physical Bayo 1

Didn't expect them to replace all the copies with Bayo 2 only when the price dropped

ÂŁ59.99 when released.

Every limited edition I buy ends up being worthless.

Also wish I had bought Conker's BFD when it was released as it is now worth a bomb.

ÂŁ36 on eBay unless I assume you want sealed. I had the Joel edition, sold it for about ÂŁ20 when I picked up the PS4 version.

Back when stores were clearance pricing PS1 games to make room for PS2 product, I came across a stack of copies of Tales of Destiny 2 for $2.99 each. I only bought one copy for my collection. I should have bought the whole stack considering what it goes for now.

Earthbound. Picked up Super Metroid instead at the store. Not a bad decision since it's a great game but now Earthbound is crazy expensive.

Well, I'm going to name those games that skyrocketed in value because they were in my hands back when stores carried them.

Panzer Dragoon Saga
Burning Rangers
House of the Dead

All three of the above I had the tickets to purchase at Toys R Us. But nah, I was more focused on my new PlayStation.

Shining Force 3 Saturn - Gamestop. Nah

Radiant Silvergun- Electronics Boutique. $40? Nah.

Otherwise there was a brief moment where we had the baddest videogame store ever at my local mall. Tons of imports, modding aid, etc...

Kinda wish I grabbed Tobal no 2.

It's almost cheating, but my mid-tier gaming pc back in 2009.

It's STILL used as my primary pc. I can't play modern pc games, no, but pc is so versatile. That $700 has payed for itself many times over.

Bangai-O import for N64 was like a quarter of the price that it is now only about 2 years ago.

It was in my cart but I passed on it like a fool for some reason.

Mine was uni rally (which was known as Uniracer in the U.S) It came out in 94 and i was going back and forth from a shop that had it as i couldn't decide what to buy. That or some other game as i could only afford one. By the time i decided i wanted it i went back to the shop and the last copy was gone. I never played it until years later on an emulator.

Gameboy Micro.

Had a Gameboy Advance and SP at the time and didn't see the use behind getting the same hardware except smaller.

Would still be using the Micro if I had one today.

I worked at Gamestop for a long time. When Lunar 2: Eternal Blue for PSX came out, it had an awesome hard cover strategy guide for it. I had one on hold behind the counter and was going to buy it next pay-day (which, IIRC, was in two or three days).

My manager sold it to a customer who had asked about it. It was completely out of the blue (get it!!??) because she had never done that previously and never did it afterwards. I put stuff on hold all of the time back then.

Tons of Activision games that never dropped in price enough that are now delisted.

Wolfstein 2009 and Blur for example.

The original PS3 with full Backwards compat, I waited for a price drop and missed on that.

Original Xbox and all the multi-platform games that ran better in it at the time.

Play It Loud GameBoy, any of them, I remember the acrylic box it came in was awesome.

Kirby Return to Dreamland for Wii
All the Silent Hill games for PS2
Too many PS1 games to list
Too many DS games to list

Not sure if I regret it or not because I do like the game... but when I was a kid I chose Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest over Legend of Zelda: Link To The Past.

A lot of Wii games come to mind, but that's because I sold my Wii. There were also a ton of SNES games I wished I got, but the biggest would be Earthbound, Secret of Mana and Yoshi's Island. I played them all later, but I would've liked to have them in my collection (when I had an SNES).

I regret not buying Marvel: UA 1 and 2, MvC3 last gen.

I regret not buying Chromehounds back when it came out. I love mech stuff and that particular game will be an experience that will likely never be replicated (at least on console). To this day, I'm not entirely sure why I never picked it up.

Dragon Ball: Attack Of The Saiyans it was like 20$ when i added the game to my wishlist now the cheapest price is 75$ new from third party seller fuckers

also Folklore, i regret not buying it,

Jojo on PSN is a good one since it was by far the cheapest option for the game.

Fire Emblem 9 and 10 were both on my radar when they came out on GCN/Wii, and nowadays are ungodly expensive.

During my Sega-obsessed phase in the Gamecube era, I still have no idea why I didn't buy Billy Hatcher and Phantasy Star Online since I was aware of and interested in both of them. I can't remember if I even knew PSO was on Gamecube or not. Hell, I only found out Crazy Taxi had a Gamecube port just a few weeks ago.

Wasn't sure about buying Gone Home because of the divisive opinions surrounding the game. Got it for free from PS+, played it, loved it, and now wish I purchased it on the PS4 so the devices would get some of my money.

.

Oh yes this for me as well. I bought the GC version, but kept telling myself to hold off on the Wii sequel until I finished that one first. To this day I still have barely touched the first game, and the sequel is exponentially more difficult to purchase and afford.

I'll just assume Fire Emblem Fates is superior to both...

Both very minor.

Kinda wishing I'd gotten Burning Rangers when it was in the $50 range.

I "only" bought two Dreamcasts when the price dropped to $50. Would've been nice to have at least one more around. It's not like it was going to lose value. My launch DC died a couple months after.

Metroid Prime Trilogy when it was new, and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Also maybe not on topic but gaming magazines that are now defunct, like Nintendo Gamer and Official Nintendo.

:(

Droplitz on Steam.

It is up there as one of my favourite all time puzzle games along with Tetris, Puyo Puyo and Puzzle Fighter.

I sold my 360 and account a few years back as needed the funds, so the only way to get it now is either.

1. Take a chance it goes BC on XB1
2. Buy a 360 an then get the game

Was delisted on Steam and is impossible to track down any codes to redeem

I bought Panzer Dragoon Saga on a whim, but returned it the following day because I thought I wouldn't have enough time to play it due to school exams or something.

Yeah...

I also regret not buying Alien Soldier, Dynamite Headdy, Contra: Hard Corps (aka Probotector over here), Ristar and more classic Mega Drive games I should've played back then.

Splatoon. I've been waiting for a decent sale, and now the last splatfest or whatever it's called is already happening in, like, a few days. What the heck. :(

MGS3 Subsistence LE. I remember seeing it go up for pre-order and not putting money down for whatever reason. When I finally got around to it, it was sold out everywhere. Aftermarket prices shot up to about $150. Eventually they settled around $110, which is what I ended up paying :(
True story, I bought Nintendo stock right about here:

At this moment I am finally, finally profitable. If I sold it all right now I would make 11 dollars.

dat long term lol

Is money tight? Nintendo games that do well generally don't drop in price. I wouldn't hold my breath on a sale for it.

Here's my purchase test. If I gave you one of the following things, no questions asked, which would you take? $50 or a copy of Splatoon. Your choice is what you value more.

Street Fighter Alpha 2, Windows version.

Requirements were high but I'd have gotten a better PC anyway. I missed the best 2D fighter on PC

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. I suck at Marvel games but boy do I love watching pros play! I should have bought a copy. Also Nier.

Not being able to get all the characters for a physical copy of a fighting game is the worst, especially since the are on the damn disc.
QFT, so freaking stupid

A friend was willing to sell me a pretty much mint Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition arcade cabinet for $150 back in 2002. At the time I didn't have the cash available.
