If you haven't already, check out a game called Hidden & Dangerous 2. Best WW2 campaign ever with some really good missions up in Norway. However, since Im Norwegian, I found the Narvik missions "Nordlys" very interesting.
Why did you only name 1 team/group?

Because they could've just said nothing and ignored my post, but instead he decided to attempt to sidetrack the discussion by asking a completely unrelated question to avoid answering. That's why it's rude. Why?
That's rich coming from you, since you were the one who refused to respond to my question that actually related to what you were saying. Quite unlike your strawman here.I assume from your lack of response you have nothing further to add. So I'm lead to assume that yes, you die a little inside each time
Okay, I'll bite.Because they could've just said nothing and ignored my post, but instead he decided to attempt to sidetrack the discussion by asking a completely unrelated question to avoid answering. That's why it's rude.

When you love estrogen, but hate women in media.I don't understand this facination some of you have with Soy related food products lol.
Must have missed some meme.
You talk as if equality and bad pricing or MTX mechanics are mutually exclusive.
Delusional.
Video games are supposed to be for everyone. Why don't people understand that.
That's not what I asked though. I asked what video games have done in the past to push away people, and I guess I'll add: how is that fixed by what BFV has done?Okay, I'll bite.
Do you want to know who it harms the most?
White people mostly as lack of representation serves to further the lazy stereotype that gamers are just angry young white men with a thirst for bloodshed and violence that's seen in the tent pole AAA releases.
I'll grant you that forcing representation everywhere doesn't always work, but how harmful can it be to stick one woman or black dude in a game about a war which affected the world.
At the end of the day, its fucking video games. Why do we have to take it so seriously.
I'm confused again. When you love estrogen, but hate women in media.
Ah, so we should exclude minorities based on the fact that lots of white people play video games. They are for everybody that can afford them. Video games are not a human right. You are delusional if you think that alienating the vast majority of paying customers will result in some sort of gaming utopia. Delusion is ignoring the financial ramifications of Dice's policy. The numbers speak for themselves.
You seem biased, almost as if EA/DICE can do no wrong. Went out of your way to defend it before you even had a chance to play it. (If youre not an insider in some way)
If all you care about is playing fun games, why are you in every BFV controversy thread? If immersion matters to other players, who are you to tell them otherwise?
That's not what I asked though. I asked what video games have done in the past to push away people, and I guess I'll add: how is that fixed by what BFV has done?
Since you've been talking a lot about representation, and how it might kill me if minorities are represented, I assume you feel that is one of the major reasons people were pushed away from playing games. I feel that's not a very valid reason, as games depiciting minorities have existed for many years at this point. Pretending otherwise is just that: Pretending. Since we're on the topic of Battlefield, that game has had black people and women represented in both the campaign and multiplayer before. So... What exactly has Battlefield V done to improve the situation?
Ah, so we should exclude minorities based on the fact that lots of white people play video games.
Gotcha.
Where on earth do you get the impression I think gaming is a human right or that someone wants a gaming utopia.
You've lost me, my friend.
Surely you understand the sheer number of people who work in games are from all sorts of different backgrounds and cultures and therefore would like to see that better reflected in the games they work on.
I also cannot get over the fact that nobody seems to understand that EA's (and DICE's) responsibilities are to their shareholders, not you.
So they'll damn sure as shit make sure they cover all the bases to make others feel included.
Please tell me you're not asking me to post those game covers again. Please.Put them front and centre which has seemingly riled some part of their fan base.
Haha, I mean you can do, but I'm not sure where it'd get us.Please tell me you're not asking me to post those game covers again. Please.
When you love estrogen, but hate women in media.
Not really, simply that the wrongs they do haven't change if a game is fun or not to me. When it does, I won't buy, but thats how I buy games now anyway so...
I own BFV day 1. My reason for defending playing a game for fun is simply that its my only real criteria with buying a game. Immersion matters to me too, simply not with this game series. It was never made for what is being argued about. I'm not telling anyone otherwise bud, if they want to not buy it for that reason, thats ok, but that would be logical for them to not even play most of the BF series in the first place.....
It never was made for those reasons. Its like arguing that Mario Kart isn't a sim and say "simulations matter to other plays, who are you to tell them otherwise?" when its actually not telling them that, its simply saying don't actually play Mario Kart for a concept it never was, just play GT or Forza.....
"If all you care about is playing fun games, why are you in every BFV controversy thread?" Cause I can be. Pretty sure i can care about playing games for fun and also post in the thread. You saying this thread isn't for folks who like games for fun or???
Its like arguing that Mario Kart isn't a sim and say "simulations matter to other plays, who are you to tell them otherwise?
Thank you.Haha, I mean you can do, but I'm not sure where it'd get us.
I expanded my answer a little for you.
Just saying this thread is for folks who discuss the topic. We all know by now that you play game for fun, and those who dont are stupid. Think ive read it 20 times.
Are you serious? Do you see this kind of controversy with Mario kart?
You can get a good feel for where the fanbase stands on this by looking at the launch trailer like/dislike ratio. Over 50% of the customerbase downvotes the direction DICE has taken with this. (the closest metrics we have) Its probably also pretty close to reported sales numbers. Should ring a bell that this is not just a vocal minority.
That said, its completely up to DICE to go in this direction.
And you play games for fun, we get it.
I only see a bunch of little men here scared that somebody might ruin their pew pew fantasies by playing as someone that has a vagina.
Good. Fucking. Lord. It is a video game. Who cares about accuracy.
Hey Claus,I suggest you look on Youtube for the "AmericanKrogan Battlefield V: Historical Revisionism" and watch the video. He will explain it better and in shorter time than I have now. Suffice it to say, they rewrote history (putting literal convicts in the boat service, changing the brave norwegian and british men during multiple covert operations into a teenage girl and mother, and pushed a overly dramaticized version of how the Senegalese (SP?) were treated by french soldiers).
Thats nice.
I don't play games based on trailer likes on Youtube. Trying to force this narrative that its this "controversy" that is resulting in those sales is like a SJW trying to say Titanfall 2 failed because the "fanbase" got tired of white males in the game and the alt right agenda failed and the fans had "enough".
Its a baseless claim that ignores everything else to argue over something.
Why would anybody care about why you play games? You keep bringing this up man Why do you think BFV is selling bad? You already said DICE outdid themselves on this, and the game is wonderful.
Hey Claus,
I watched the video. I'm no historian as my knowledge about world wars is basically what movies and black and white tv clips show, so good to hear some historical stories from the YT person.
As for all the BF5 issues with rewriting stories, I'm going to be Devil's Advocate for everyone........
Why BF5 should be more accurate
- More realistic
- Respects and pay homage to real life soldiers and missions
- Cuts out all the SJW BS that seems to be going wild the last 5 years
- The first bit in the YT video about a mom and 12 year old daughter being able to Rambo their way through soldiers is absurd (including the teen getting dunked over a bridge into freezing water)
Why BF5 shouldn't care about accuracy
- EA/DICE has never said their BF games are historically accurate
- Gamers are outraged at unrealistic storylines, yet have no problem with unrealistic gameplay
- All forms of media fudge the facts to make things different (even documentaries with an agenda mess around with clips)
- Does it really matter? It's entertainment and a game
I only see a bunch of little men here scared that somebody might ruin their pew pew fantasies by playing as someone that has a vagina.
Good. Fucking. Lord. It is a video game. Who cares about accuracy.
the multiplayer customization feature has been a problem ever since the first black ops came around, which I believe introduced animated weapon skins like these:
I fucking hate them, they break immersion by making guns look like kids toys corrupted by black magic.
The gender choice customization in historical multiplayer games is no different in my eyes, it's purely visual customization with no benefit to gameplay that break immersion significantly by fundamentally altering historical authenticity.
Now to be clear, I understand that some people actually prefer to have those weapon skins showing and the gender choice available because to them it makes for a more enjoyable gaming experience.
What I am upset about is the devs not giving us the option to turn off all that customization crap in order to restore as much visual authenticity as possible, (I feel that something like that is especially important in a game about a real war).
You like the option of playing as a woman in WWII? fine, everyone is free to like what they like and it's great that you now have the option do to so, but locking every single player in a fixed multiplayer fantasy feels unnecessary when there is a very easy solution to the problem.

"Why would anybody care about why you play games?" Don't know, why would anyone care why you play games? Can't have it both ways man, can't have all theses reasons on why some of you play or don't play, then start question others when their reasons don't match your own.
BFV is likely selling bad as its put up against a Call Of Duty, Assassins Creed and Red Dead. Add in BR crazy with Fortnight, PUBG and not launching with one and you have lots of reasons for folks not to pick it up and to play the BR mode in COD.
Titanfall 2 was a wonderful game too and legit one of ReSpawn's best games....doesn't mean a alt right agenda is why the game failed though. Put against BF1 and COD will result in lower sales, with Battlefield being put against something like Red Dead 2 moving like 17 million units, its likely to result in less sales.
Nobody cares why I play games, thats why I dont keep telling you. But for some reason you think its relevant. You need to wake up to the real world.
This guy gets it. It's happening everywhere. Just do what I do and avoid titles like this. Support shit like Dark Souls that has no agenda other than being an amazing game. It’s not just the videogame industry this is happening in. It’s happening in movies and TV shows.
Don't be surprised if news comes out later BF5 wins awards for diversity in a storyline or whatever. This guy gets it. It's happening everywhere. Just do what I do and avoid titles like this. Support shit like Dark Souls that has no agenda other than being an amazing game.
Sure bud. Real world is some people play games for fun. That shouldn't be something that puzzles you tbh. The fact that you even trolled asking if I worked for EA simply because I played a game shows maybe you don't get its actually possible for someone to actually play a game for the purpose of actual gameplay and fun.
This guy gets it. It's happening everywhere. Just do what I do and avoid titles like this. Support shit like Dark Souls that has no agenda other than being an amazing game.
Good points.I refuse to believe that this game has bombed hard because of EA's progressive stance representation in the game independent of whether it's accurate or not.
There's a variety of factors that could have led to this game bombing as it has. Releasing AFTER RDR2 and BOPS IIII did not bolster it's chances this I guarantee. Returning to WW2 after last year's CoD doesn't feel novel anymore and EA's brand has never been this toxic with core gamers.
I absolutely detest identity politics but I don't get why EA was as forceful in its response to not changing characters but on the flip side I don't get why so many gamers were outraged. When I play BFV my avatar will always be a male, but what is it to me if my friend or teammate chooses a female avatar?
