Pan Am?

Did they recently watch Blade Runner or some shit? Is Atari going to be somewhere in there too?

Looks more Blade Runner than Blade Runner

More like a tasteless, gaudy, over the top fanboy version of Blade Runner maybe.

After the trailers I don't have much hope for the movie, at least storywise (it could still be an alright acation movie).

I kind of feels like they are just throwing everything that has the GiTS in the name together and fill the blanks with generic cyberpunk fluff.

I think it looks good?

I mean, the original movie is one of the best animated movies ever, mimicking the cinematography and the visual style is almost impossible, but looking it as a separate thing? I think it looks promising.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Movie looks like it will at least be well shot, so that's cool!

Still wish it was based more off SAC and not Oshii's movies.

Still apprehensive about Scarlett but it looks like they're trying really hard to be visually faithful to the anime, right down to the weird soundtrack. Deserves a watch.

Looks good. Which is kinda annoying because if it looked shit and turned out shit, then whatever, I wouldn't be getting my hopes up. But as it looks good I'm slightly getting my hopes up for it to turn out good, so I'll be inevitably disappointed when the story turns out to be trash.

Removing this from the source material it looks like something I want to see

Going into it solely for comparison's sake is setting it up to fail, haha

Here's to hoping they use the ideas from the source to make something entertaining that's different from other films coming out

Just watched the trailer, thought it was rad. We'll see

i'm in. gave it the side eye like some. but not giving in to the haterade, if it's good it's good. not gonna treat the anime as something precious, it is great in its own right. gonna give this one a chance at life.

I should be dreading this, but the more I see of the cinematography, the more I'm looking forward to it. It's such a visually striking movie, I may be able to forgive the casting if my eyes are happy. That being said, Rinko Kikuchi would have made a better, Major

This has to stop.

Its a western re-imagining. The casting will also reflect that.

wishing for something to not exist just because you don't personally love it is, in fact, hilarious. especially based on a trailer.

Exactly. If you don't like it, or don't like the look of it, don't watch it. This existing doesn't alter any of the original films or tv show. Just get over it and move on.

I'll keep an open mind, funny how they got the message about using the original theme.
same.

Red flags all over the place, but I still have some hope for this project. I can tell that the source material is respected here more so than the usual adaptation. Yet it won't matter if the end result is shit.

Please be gud

Visually the movie looks very nice. If there's a reason to be concerned I don't think it's how the movie looks.

My concern is with the story. It sounds like they're turning this into a character-driven movie where there's all this intrigue about the Major and it's going to turn into this conspiracy flick where the Major has to find out about "the truth" and that the "evil" prosthetic body corporations stole her life in order to test out their prosthetic bodies in a cyberterrorism unit or something like that.

Basically, instead of making it a concept driven movie about the physical and philosophical consequences of cyberization and transhumanism (what Ghost in the Shell fundamentally is), it's just a typical Hollywood conspiracy plot
