if giant beast does end up finishing contradiction i'm confident that i will never play it for myself

but i sure bought it, because i sure want to see more games like it

So idk how many of you guys watch Evo... but I have drunkenly offered an avatar bet that Ai Ai wins Evo for SF4. No one in the Evo thread acknowledged it. Anyone in this fine institution want to take me up on it?

Edit: Going by twitter, good to see that Jeff and Alexis can appreciate some Gang Starr.

Its good seeing something like this monster truck game every now and then to make you really appreciate how far things have come and what we have now.

Just finished Catherine.

Yo, fuck that
escort
mission.

Pretty alright game, though I agree with Jeff that I really think the puzzles fuck with the flow of the game for me, though I think they are pretty fun once I forgot about the frustration of having to constantly restart. Also that Vincent, Katherine and Catherine are honestly unlikable for most of the game.

Even though I, like anyone with a connection to the internet, have access to any old megadrive game at my fingertips, that box of boxes excites me.

While I actually enjoyed the puzzle solving for the most part, the character stuff is still the best thing about that game. Though that's not really surprising considering that it's the Persona team.

Yup, reminds me of the minefield full of shit I'd have to navigate as a kid without easy access to reviews. As much as we complain about reviews using the 7-9 scale, there is just a lot less junk being sold. Bad games have been replaced with disappointing games.

I bought Contradiction after I could pick my brain up following the supplemental video and played through about 2/3 of it last night.

I have no idea if this is a pitch perfect homage to hammy FMV acting of if these were the best actors they could get. Can't wait to watch the GB play through.

What the hell was up with the drunk guy who gives you the huge plot information? They couldn't think of a better way to give that information to you? Again, don't know if the game is in on it or not.

Like if I think back at it I'll say that I had fun with the puzzles, but when I'm playing it I'm just frustrated by the time pressure and the ways the bosses fuck around with you. Though I don't think the puzzles would be as good without the pressure. It's a weird one.

Just played through Contradiction last night. Can't want to see GBeast get to some of these events. There's one scene in particular where (no spoilers) one of the characters unleashes all of their "ACTING!" skills, and watching them and Jenks engage in full ham-on-ham combat had me rolling.

The one disappointment is
it kinda feels like they must have run out of money or something. After most of the game deals with setting up this sinister business program/cult, all of a sudden Jenks gives a piece of evidence to a character almost completely unrelated to Atlas's dirty dealings and they're like "Yeah, I killed Kate. What of it?" And then the game ends. Very abrupt, but if nothing else it makes me hopeful that even if GBeast plays through the whole thing, the sequel hook will get duders willing to chip in on a KS sequel.

Oh man, from the Contradiction Kickstarter:

In short, I'm trying to make an atmospheric, well-shot, well-acted and genuinely interactive movie, something you can play alone or with friends on a dark winter's night by the fire.

I think they meant for it to be serious, which just makes it better.

I dunno, at the same time the sentence could be super ironic too.

All the actors that talked to GB people on twitter over the last week have been super great sport about it.

I dunno, if they searched for actors with a background in theater they could very well meant for that to be "good" acting. You have to be a lot more exaggerated on stage.
