GitHyp: LawBreakers Final Beta Player Counts Down 40% Compared to Previous on Steam

Cliffy said he was done with AAA development. I'm sure he'll live to regret that based on the reception/popularity of the game. This game will be dead in less than three months.

I'll share a story with you guys about Cliffy. It's a personal one but none the less :

Back during his GoW days me and my friends played obsessively. We had a tight knit group and solid teamwork. We played every day it felt like and it was an amazing amount of fun.

Fast forward to about 3 months before GoW 3 release one of those friends who had been battling leukemia for at least a year made a promise with me and the other guys and girls that we would attend the launch party for the game that Epic was having. My friend also blogged his whole ordeal of living with leukemia. It was agonizing to read and he was quite brave for being so open about it.

Unfortunately he died about 2 months before the game came out due to complications of leukemia. This was during the Teamxbox website forum days (for those that remember before it got sold to IGN) and someone passed along my friend's blog about living with leukemia and dying from complications and Cliffy was quite touched and saddened to hear about the whole thing. He wrote to my friend's wife (who was pregnant with their twin sons when her husband died like it needed to be sadder) and also sent her a full size Lancer replica signed by the whole team in a very touching response.

So whatever happens to Lawbreakers , I'll remember him being a decent human being to his fan and I hope despite the low beta numbers it's a success for the team.

Yeah I played it and wasn't particularly impressed. It's a shame too because I know Cliffy is a talented guy but this was just... not very good imo.

Yeah, I sadly wouldn't be surprised.

I personally don't understand why he and his team thought making another shooter in a completely saturated market was a good idea.

I guess he probably feels it's what they do best. I agree, though. That team should have made a completely different game in a different genre.

Everyone saying it's unnecessary in a crowded genre, what other shooters of this kind have a Team Deathmatch gametype? I didn't play the beta but the fact that this is what the game is designed around makes it more appealing to me, it feels like all of these hero-based shooters are designed around Capture the Flag or similar gametypes which I'm generally not as fond of (with exceptions obviously, I enjoyed TF2 quite a bit).

Game felt ok but i'd rather just play quake champion if i had to pick one of those hero shooters. Or just keep playing R6 Siege. Or wait for Midair.
That one felt it would share the same fate as paladin or overwatch, me dropping it after one week before the boredom sets in, i liked it more than those to be fair but meh.

Well, I'm in on day one. I had a great time with the beta, despite some of the visual style. I hope people give it a shot.

Actually got a chance to play this on PS4. It's not bad at all and started to have fun with it, but I struggle to imagine how this will sell. It's a bit too edgy and sassy for it's own good and it comes off as trying too hard. It just doesn't have a visual hook to help it stand out from the pack. It's like they made the game they wanted to make but it looks a bit too much like other games at a glance.

I'd hold off and see where the community is at two months down the road. I don't think many will stick with this game for very long, especially when you consider all of the games coming out.

I enjoyed the beta quite a bit so I hope this game will find some success. If they support the game post release there is a chance it can slowly grow an audience. I feel like these days having a poor launch isn't an instant death sentence for multiplayer games.

I have bad news for you. There is no TDM. 3 of the modes are a twist on capture the flag and the fourth mode is control points.

Gunplay felt fine, but character design was too generic dudebro and the levels weren't memorable. A decent game, but I only played the beta for 30 mins and then deleted.

Not sure why there is so much hate for it. Dont play and PC and PS4 so havent got the chance. But watched quite alot of streams and looked pretty good if this sort of high octane games are your thing. Hope it does well. As every game.

Shame because the gameplay is pretty legit. A lot of these arena shooters have failed to take off, which is a shame as they offer more depth in the gameplay department.

Hopefully Quake Champions breaks out. Either way I'm getting Lawbreakers.

I feel bad for cliffy, but he chose a very competitive genre and a bad time. I guess when he started the game there was more chances to have a place.

I still wish them luck.

It's too bad because I like the gunplay in this game a lot. I think it's genuinely a blast to play. That said, the character design is very bland and uninspired.

People don't hate it from what I've read and seen, but mostly think it's mediocre or not worth their time when there already exist so many big shooters like it with already established communities.

The real problem is that this game isn't by a big developer and isn't doing something new that would warrant people leaving shooters like Overwatch, Titanfall, Battlefield, CoD, PUBG, CSGO etc

The combat is fun for the most part, but the objectives aren't and the art style is atrocious. I just mildly enjoyed myself here. Not enough to spend any more time with it. Sorry, Cliffy. Not my cup of tea.

I'm sure, like most games, the player count will dwindle after launch, but, for $30, if I get a few solid months out of it, I won't consider it a waste. I think it's doing some pretty neat things, so, I'd like to put some time into it. And who knows, maybe it'll pick up some steam if the full product is good and reviews well.

I played from early alpha and have to say I was very impressed with the improvements they made. The last betas have been really fun, the game is very solid, each class is fun to play and the maps are well designed.

Unfortunately it looks like the game won't stick with the masses.

Also people going "ANOTHER SHOOTER"...There really still isn't an amazing arena /class based shooter to be out in a few years. Overwatch is a joke. TF2 is still great. But not much else. Quake Champions is promising and god knows what's going to happen with Diabotical. But there is definitely room in the market and in particular in the competitive scene for an amazing new arena shooter.

It's a fun game, but I really doubt it will be survive.

It's just not casual enough? All the games for me has been total pubstomps and it's like playing with people that never touched a FPS before, I guess something like Overwatch would be way easier for those kind of people to play.

Played the beta... it was okay, but something felt off and I can't quite put my finger on what it is. Can't see this being at all popular. I reckon it will, unfortunately, go the Battleborn route.

What should they have made?

I'm not in a position to say what they should or shouldn't make really, but I do think creating a new shooter that at least on the surface isn't doing anything new wasn't a great idea in the currently saturated online-shooter market.

The consumers ultimately dictate what is successful, not the ambitions of developers.
