God of War Launches Early 2018 (PS4)

Still can't handle those visuals!

What if this is Lady Sif?

Talking about Spectacle genre(again never heard of it) , where i said everything with sword is hack n slash, Although ryse is Hack n slash , a little Slower n with Qte.

Finally, I just wanted to say that this game has still the basic elements of the previous games , except for Camera . It does have fast action packed gameplay, has platforming(not in your definition ,but this is platforming) and puzzles, now just with more story elements. Thats it. We don't need to agree on this, i got it.

No. Gameplay > Story

Good games don't need story at all
A good games doesn't need story, but a good game can be even better with story

It's not an either-or thing. Gameplay and mechanics are as much means of storytelling as the cutscenes and writing of a game

For example, the subtle notion here that your son is quite literally a weapon for you to use in combat, with you having a son button to expand your combos

if the objective was just to go to a new direction, couldn't have made a new franchise with the same exact gameplay?

also, there's a difference betweenwanting more of the same and not wanting a complete change of genre that makes the franchise unrecognizable...

when nintendo was tasked to "rejuvenate" the zelda franchise, they didn't make it a different genre, they tried new things while keeping it in the end still a true zelda game.
Weird comparisons and certainly some hyperbole. The game is unrecognizable? What?

Breath of the Wild is much more of a departure to me than anything God of War is doing.

We've had 6 games of the same thing. I've really enjoyed those games but they are super tired and rote to me now. I like that this series is evolving.

You want X-2 again and again. I want Logan.

I also have a lot of faith in the writing (something that is increasingly my personal biggest sticking point with games) listening to Cory talk about what a Kratos in 2017 and 7 games in should be going through and what they should be exploring about this person. The ideas behind this game sound really strong to me.

Yeah, that's what I think, too.
The story actually looks to be great in this one, as opposed to the previous games (especially the shit show that was GOW2) and they'll finally make Kratos an amazing character.

This game is a hard pass.

Stop forcing so much story telling I'm playing a game not a movie!

First God of War I'm skipping

There is no single camera cut in the game which means all the watch parts are ingame and part of the gameplay. I am sure some of thew atch parts are even interactive, like when Kratos tells his son to aim at the deer, there is a crosshair you move and shoot, same maybe when Kratos yelled at his son and his rage meter goes up then it went down when he calmed down (I bet palyers have to press some buttons to cool it down).
This reminds me of the interactive custscenes in The Order 1886 where you turn the weapon while checking it or use the scope and zoom.
But here there are no conventional "cutscenes". All the watch parts never cut you from the gameplay like regular cinematics or cutscenes.

and that's why we should probably just agree to disagree

Stop forcing politics into my games!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shit man, there are 7 very alike god of war games. This is what the series AND more important, the studio needed. Games can be whatever they want to be.

Also, Judge is a pro. Releasing the tension like that to let the kid breath between scenes, amazing.

Cory said in Colisseum today that he probably shouldn't have said that. :P

So are you. His tweet indicated that Sony didn't want him.

And I don't like guessing games anyway, I want to know the real reason why.

The new guy sounds good but he doesn't sound like Kratos to me, the voice I've been hearing for many years.

In my honest opinion, Carson is versatile enough that he would be able to deliver a different style of Kratos - should ssm wish that from him. A business decision i.e too much money seems like the more likely explanation.
?! That doesn't make any sense. How can an actor almost 60 years old who has already been portraying the character not be viable to continue?honestly man I fail to see why Carson wouldn't be able to deliver a more seasoned performance.

How do 50 year old women play 9 year old boys? Because age and gender don't determine your voice completely. I think you're being intentionally obtuse here.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with giving God of War more character driven plot and story. If recall correctly, one of the biggest complaints about Gow 2/3 was how much of an edgy 2 dimensional brute Kratos became, so I appreciate what they're trying with him. What I am worried about is how much Last of Us we'll see in the story. The Ps3 had the most diverse 1st party catalog of any console, and to have every other 1st party ps4 game have Last of Us smeared all over it is a bit disappointing.

Because of the insanely hard work it proved to be. But ultimately it really paid off for the game experience. :)

5 actors in 4 minute mo-cap acting scene took many tries and preparation.

Oh so it's confirmed? I didn't understand quite well because audio was pretty bad but I thought he said that because they didn't pull it off. Great if they did!

Every game with a father-child relationship, a more mature tone, and a focus on storytelling is going to be "inspired by Last of Us", isn't it?

Given what Cory said about his own son and his own family, I think that has had far more influence on this than TLOU

Not sure if I can get over that this is basically a reboot that pretends to be a sequel.
Kratos feels so out of place in this game. Pretty sure he is only there ,so that they can call it GoW (without spin-off subtitle).

Yeah. Story was that Cory was told not to talk about it for E3 2016. That just made him more determined and he promised it publicly last year. They have worked their butts off in achieving it and it's great apparently.

It's a soft reboot that is a sequel. They've altered the game design, but the story continues from 3. Cory mentioned that a series of events take place after 3 that leads into the current game. It's a sequel through and through and is very much Kratos's story.

Except that this is subjective. Breath of the Wild, to me, didn't really feel much like a Zelda game, but rather a game where they took many of the worst aspects of modern open world games, and put them into the Zelda universe, all the while removing most of what makes Zelda special.

I've never seen movie enthusiasts do something like this.

PLOT > CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT = FACT! Character development is bollocks with a good plot. /s

Holy shit, there are a multitude of things that go into whether a game is good or not. Yes, a game can be very good even with a very minimalist story but on the other end of the spectrum a game can also be really good with a great story even if the gameplay is lackluster.

i'm being pro-Carson. I don't care what you call it, I just wanted an honest reason, from Sony or SSM why they dumped him. That's all I had to say and that's why since then I left the thread.

Agreed. GoW was no DMC but it was still super fun. All I needed was for them to refine the mechanics and add more depth (and nerf the square, square, triangle combo) A TLoU-ified Emotional Cinematic Experience Masterpiece was not what I wanted from the series.

The fighting and action set pieces in this have no chance to be fun? Whut.
