360.....because I won't have a PS3 until June 12th, and even then MGS4 won't be taken out of my PS3 for quite some time.

How could I possibly turn down playing with my friends on either system. $50 Million will not keep me from my PS3 pals.

Nor will your 360 experiences keep you from playing with your 360 pals! In all honestly, you are a shining beacon in this all too divisive environment.

Right now, I'm going with the Xbox 360 version mainly for the DLC down the road but all it will take is a hiccup (knocking on wood vigorously) from my Xbox 360 for me to switch versions. This is the only game I've ever considered buying 2 versions of though. I still have some time to mull it over.

And, is XBL DLC also restricted to the same file size limitations as XBLA games? I can't see them stuffing a "San Andreas-sized" DLC chock full of new locations, voicework, cut-scenes, music, etc. into anything under a couple of GB.

The 360 DLC comes out in November. Besides file size limitations, can you see them putting together what's essentially a new version of GTA in seven months?

Must be because I am on vacation, but I read that as "you are shining bacon" at first...

And I said YOU have a drug problem?:lol

There is no clear file limitations on DLC. There is a difference between DLC and XBLA titles. If the Shivering Isles is a nearly gig that point is pretty much moot.

PS3 version for me. The DLC is nice but I really don't think I'll end up buying it. The difference between the two in my eyes are the controls and achievements vs home trophies/items. The home trophies/unlockable items are much more interesting than achievement points. As for the controls I pretty sure I'll be more comfortable with the same type of control I always been using (although the 360 might end up being superior).

PS3 here. Only system I own. ;) I'm not worried about this version of the game. From previews, both versions have been said to run great. No DLC, but I'm sure the main game will have plenty to offer on its own. To tell the truth, I've never finished a GTA game. :( This'll be my first...

it was an obvious choice for me, 360...and i have a ps3 and a gaming pc

live for multipler and dlc were the main factors

now to decide if the CE is really worth $30 more...since i just reserved it

There is no size limitation for non-Arcade games.... As for the time period Vice city came out a year after GTA III, cutting off 5 months is completely possible especially since they could have been working on it since Oct when it was supposed to be released and the 360 version was supposibly pretty much done. Plus the fact that this time they don't need to re-do anything that is already on the disc since it's DLC.

If they were smart, they'd also release the DLC via disc a few months later. There are enough non-broadband internet connected players around the world to make it worthwhile most likely.

This thread is just.... :lol. I thought it was bad last night, but I just read through it all back to back and God. :lol

360. I won't be getting a PS3 until MGS4 hits. I don't think I could get it on PS3 if I owned it though as I wouldn't have many friends on the system and the lack of achievements would suck.

I own a PS3 and 360, but it'll be the 360 version for me.
I prefer the controller, have more friends online, and will almost definitely buy the DLC.
Custom soundtracks will be the icing on the cake.

Was it an MS rep or Pachter that said GTA DLC was intended to get people connected to XBL? A retail disc might be counter to their strategy.

Shivering Isles released on disc as well.... but the disc just installed the DLC to your HDD (I'm 99% sure) so even in disc form they wouldn't have to redo any of the stuff on the original disc if they went the shivering isles route.

Still undecided. I'm leaning towards the PS3 but that the 360 is the lead console gives me cause for pause. Then on the other hand people were pretty upset over the 360 Bully port.

GTAIV looks quite good but it is not a first person graphical powerhouse. This is a game where the quality of wall textures and the like is not such a big factor.

Hopefully before lauch day there will be some definitive comparisons or any news of a substandard version will be made known.

Rockstar never mention which platform was lead, I dont now why it was added to the poll. anyways.

Not buying, never got into the series. Fun for a few hours, then gets boring.

Good thing you posted in a thread about which version of GTA you're buying then.

360 SE for me and probably regular edition PS3.

I wouldn't worry about that... the Bully port was developed by Mad Doc Software rather than Rockstar.

They didn't show the PS3 version until recently and they kept saying that it was a few weeks behind the 360 one. They may not have said it precisely but it's fairly clear.

360 definitely. The exlusive DLC sealed the deal for me, plus all my friends are on XBL. I don't have ONE friend on PSN. :(

I understand... just saying that there will be a segment of players internationally (who literally don't have broadband) that would benefit from a disc version, like Shivering Isles. Of course Arcade and Core owners are kinda screwed also without a HDD, regardless of their XBL situation, so some kind of GTA4 Complete Edition could likely see a release one day as well.

It's going to be fascinating to see how the sales chart breakdowns match up against GAF.

Regarding the disc thing, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that we'll see one. But they'll never mention it until after both episodes have been on sale for a while. They will milk the additional profitability of digital delivery plus the impetus to get on Live. Then after sales taper off they'll release the disc.

I would love to know why people think GTA DLC won't be big. Oblivion and UBI games DLCs did big numbers and the GOW DLC did well even though people knew the DLC would be free eventually. I could easily see the GTA DLC selling in the millions because none of the games I mentioned are in GTA's league in terms of popularity.

The funny thing about this thread is that the people that don't care about GTA DLC are probably the same ones that will be glad to buy 3 new cars for 5 dollars when GT5 is released.

For the last friggin time, that is NOT what this thread is about. :lol

The majority of my gamer friends own a 360. So for the community aspect alone, the DLC being the cherry on top, 360 all the way.

because arcade and core owners couldn't possibly purchase a HDD later if they wanted to. There's 0 chance they recode the game later, for the small segment of people who don't want to go online, or buy a HDD, but want to spend $20~ extra for GTA IV? That's not realistic.

I wouldn't be surprised if their was a GoTY edition like Oblivion that also has the DLC after this year, or later next year with both DLCs.

GT5P itself might me more appropriate for your comparison, although the release schedule is reversed in that instance.

But it still stands. It's just a matter of interest. GT fans, although knowing that a full version is on the way, want to experience the game now. GTA fans, although knowing that the content will be coming later, want to experience all permutations of the game.

Similar phenomenon, to be sure, but it's perfectly likely that there are multitudes of casual GTA fans who have no interest in DLC, just as there are probably casual GT fans who have just decided to wait for the retail edition.

But it is indeed perplexing in both instances how any more dedicated fan of either franchise would want to miss out on anything released under its umbrella.

A hard disc is $100, I can imagine not wanting to buy one.

Would their be enough space on the DVD to do that....:lol
