Why couldnt the entire game look like this lol. This looks next gen as fuck.
I don't know what improvements they have made since shadows but the game seems to use more stylized visuals and more vibrant color tone, which, mixed with the water, looks more pleasing, perhaps. Shadows had a much bigger budget, and I feel it is more consistent and more detailed from what I've seen so far. Also lets see if this has the same granular destruction as shadows, which allowed you to cut multiple bamboo shoots and vegetation, etc. I feel shadows gets overlooked due to his more subdued and muted tone, which comes across as more boring to many.Yes, if you compare Promotional material for both black flag are far better, and we all know how shadows turns to be one of best looking titles this gen by the time of it's release ,also Black flag use upgraded anvil engine and from those videos they already shared it's looks better for me
I think it's more the stylized visuals and more vibrant color tone, which, mixed with the water, looks more pleasing, perhaps. Shadows had a much bigger budget, and I feel it is more consistent and more detailed from what I've seen so far. Also, not sure if this has the same granular destruction as shadows, which allowed you to cut multiple bamboo and vegetation, etc. It's more stylized, but it clearly has a bit more going for it than Shadows. It's an upgrade for sure.
It's insane how much effort they put into the visuals and how little effort they put into the cutscenes and storytelling. Just garbage all around. I appreciate Massive trying to do single player games, but you need to get the cutscenes right. This game looks a generation ahead of Death Stranding 2, but two gens behind in cutscenes. This simply should not happen.Bought SW Outlaws Gold at a good discount, it's a gorgeous game with gorgeous lighting, but man is it still full of bugs. It's just short of being one of the best visually if not for the issues.
I don't understand Ubi man, they're just content with being mediocre, decent or just good enough. They just don't want to make an effort to polish things a bit.

yep. i think the more vibrant color tone is making it pop more. there were certain times of day/weather/season where Shadows could really pop too but due to the dynamic nature of the weather system, it wasnt as consistently bright and in your face.I don't know what improvements they have made since shadows but the game seems to use more stylized visuals and more vibrant color tone, which, mixed with the water, looks more pleasing, perhaps. It's a mixed bag all around. The highs are fantastic like shown on the other thread, but it also doesn't have a lot going on. Compared to Bananza and MK World though? A gen ahead easily.Thoughts on Star Fox? Looks like a PS3.5 game to me.
Yeah, but even on the visual side, it can easily be on top of everything. I mean with RTXDI every light casts shadows and emits the light on surfaces, even those little buttons, it's insane.Thoughts on Star Fox? Looks like a PS3.5 game to me.

In terms of gameplay, i was shocked at how basic it was. Both Avatar and Outlaws feel like ps3 era games. I am pretty down on ps4 feeling Sony games this gen, but i never expected to play ps3 era gameplay this gen.
I mean, this is either bait or you suck at looking at things. I'm betting on bait though, lolThoughts on Star Fox? Looks like a PS3.5 game to me.
I'd be shocked if they have none of the destruction physics in there. Seems like an easy win, as it's literally the same engine with even more upgrades and optimizations, for a game that's a bit narrower in scope and size.I think it's more the stylized visuals and more vibrant color tone, which, mixed with the water, looks more pleasing, perhaps. Shadows had a much bigger budget, and I feel it is more consistent and more detailed from what I've seen so far. Really like the look of this. Decent asset quality, great lighting and im loving the color grading in this one. Seems like the best looking RGG title, most likely their highest budget title aswell, atleast it looks like it
Absolute slop character design. Afroman, sjw girl and vegan pensioner.
Outlaws had my jaw drop multiple time during my playthrough. Maxed out on PC the game is just gorgeous. It's not deep gameplay wise, but tbh sometimes you gotta have that junk food in video game form.Bought SW Outlaws Gold at a good discount, it's a gorgeous game with gorgeous lighting, but man is it still full of bugs. It's just short of being one of the best visually if not for the issues.

I think its character models are on par with R&C rift apartI only saw pics but starfox look pretty good for a sw2 game...
I can't understand how you are simultaneously here since 2009, and new enough to not know Slimy and his very special eyes.I mean, this is either bait or you suck at looking at things. I'm betting on bait though, lol
Bold statement...I think its character models are on par with R&C rift apart
Yes it's definitely looks very close in terms of character modelsBold statement...
Most impressive thing by far is the lightning. If that's all raster based and not RT outright color me surprised.Bold statement...
Characters' models look great.Yes it's definitely looks very close in terms of character models
There's literally bad textures and ugly assets in the screenshot dude. Look at the ground and also the rocks below the waterline.Horizon looks insane, I think in terms in textures and quality of assets its one of the best. Its impossible to find a bad texture or ugly asset in it

Completely disagree here. R&C had Pixar like, pre-rendered looking characters. Starfox looks like someone in a cosplay fur suit being rendered on a PS4.Yes it's definitely looks very close in terms of character models
I genuinely disagree, horizon had no shortage of crap assets that I noticed in my playthroughYou can always find some lower textures resolution here and there in every single game, but in general, 99% of the time, Horizon has an amazing level of detail when it comes to texture quality and I say that as a guy that hates low res textures in my games.

you can always move.
I think different people just have different sensibility when it comes to what they consider bad textures.
I consider this shit and unacceptable.

This is real? It's not loading them? I've heard about some rough texture work but GODDAMN this is some PS2 shit right here.
Definitely agree with Gonzito. Texture/asset quality and their consistency have always been the most impressive thing in Guerrilla games for me. In fact, Horizon: Zero Dawn had the very highest resolution textures and quality assets of any game I had played before on the system, including linear games. In this regard what they accomplished in a massive open world 9 years ago on last gen is exceptional:

Anisotropic filtering isn't the greatest, but in terms of resolution and quality assets I can guarantee you there's no open world last gen that came even close.
Not going to touch on Forbidden West, which I firly believe with a proper Path Tracing update on PC would be undisputed #1 graphics king.
Another case of lazy ass devs with Unreal probably not helping either. Always a good combo for shitty results. It is. Ps4 version when it came out
My post is supposed to mean "God i am sorry please forgive me", something you say when you find something very displeasing to the muslim god (if internet is to be trusted).English please, it's NeoGAF not Hallahgaf
As the "Texture Enthusiast" I know you are, is there anything even remotely close to Horizon on PS4? Or as consistent? It is because you people only consider ps2 tier textures as shit textures, but there are various degrees of shit textures.
