Halo 5 Launch Day Multiplayer Playlist Revealed

Honestly, this game is really bare bones at launch compared to past halo games like reach. No BTB, no forge, no firefight/horde mode equivalent, no Spartan ops, missing a bunch of modes like oddball and king of the hill, etc. Basically there's just the campaign and multiplayer.

Everyone is all worried about the playlists, why is no one worried about the MP actually working? (I am looking at you MCC)
There is a massive difference between building your own game from the ground up (a la Halo 4) versus trying to combine 4 different games through a unified hub with all the outsourcing involved. Thus, comparing H5 to TMCC is like comparing apples to elephants. If you're looking for a game from 343 to gauge how stable and well H5 will work from a technical perspective, use Halo 4 and not the TMCC. While I'm not excusing how messed up TMCC still is after a year, people should not use TMCC as a reason to avoid H5. Completely different circumstances mate.

I got a refund for MCC, bruh.

Your original post had nothing to do with MCC, it was just you bleating on and on about how they don't know what the fuck they're doing because there's no Doubles playlist.

And like I said, disagreeing with the playlists is fine, but the way you go about it, just makes everyone's eyes glaze over and not take you serious.

No one is taken seriously. No one.

So this may not be a popular opinion, but ctf, assault and so forth were always better as btb gametypes. So hopefully they have lots of objective stuff on btb. Moving into a point with two full warthogs is basically unparalleled in video games.

I would agree with that. BTB is where I did most of my objective play.

I'm surprised at no Flood/Infection playlist. It, along with SWAT, has been one of the better populated and more casual playlists no?

Eventually I think we'll get an Objective playlist, just so people don't have to play Slayer games if they don't want to. You'd think KoTH, Oddball, Assault/One Bomb would be mainstays of the Halo games by now.

CTF 4v4 is really awesome with a good team.

Oddball in BTB is bad, but KOTH is good in both, I agree on assault though

Almost assuredly, it will be a weekend hopper, like the Halo 3 days.

Anyone knows if in Halo 5 whenever a multiplayer game ends do i have to search again for a match or does it keep the same group of people and game starts in 30 secods - 1 min like Titanfall?

I always liked 4v4 assault. Particularly neutral bomb on something like Sanctuary. I guess we are likely to get a few of these objective modes back once BTB drops. Also it was nice to hear them reaffirm recently that BTB will get its own maps and playlists.

You're right, as a game developer, they should be exempt from the normal standards we hold corporations and companies to. If Coca-Cola releases cans that turn out to be half full, they better be on the mic getting out a press release to the world, apologizing, paying settlements and pulling all their product from the shelves until it's fixed. But if a video game company does it, we should just count our blessings that the exalted Frankie deems us worthy of dropping asinine posts on our forums.

You're the kind of consumer companies have wet dreams about.

I think many people you are referring to probably just prefer to be entertained by their entertainment. Its better just to put it behind you and focus on what does entertain you. This includes spending money elsewhere, I think alot of people did do this by asking for refunds for MCC.

Although, I will concede that being part of a hatedom can be entertaining at times as well: Star wars prequels, am i right?

I don't mind if it's just the breakout maps being used in team arena, being that they work well in that play space

But it would seem weird to have a mode that's different from your standard stuff, one that's round based, and has player modifiers

In COD you can't randomly mix in hardcore modes in core playlists people would not like that

But i am for players being able to adjust and being well rounded

For Arena, I'm sure it doesn't keep the same people. WZ, it probably keeps going though.

Curious about this as well. I don't think they have said and I'm not sure but I think in the beta it kept the people you were playing with in the lobby if you stayed but I can't remember exactly.

I reallllly hope they don't go the MCC route of kicking people back to start the search over.

That's a terrible analogy. If Coca Cola looked at the soft drink forums around the world to see what their fans thought about the new Coke flavours - Strawberry & Lime, Apple & Blackcurrant and Straw & Kidney Beans only to be met with wailing, insults and snidey comment's then that soul be a more fitting analogy.

343i make the game they want to make and we decide if we want to buy it or not. Spitting the dummy and throwing the toys out of the pram is embarrassing as much as it is pointless.

Halo 5 will have evolving playlists and modes throughout its lifetime, they cant throw everything in at launch they need to curate the community over time.

The playlist don't bother me, what bothers me is the extremely sparse Arena maps, 8 maps and they're not all in the Team Slayer playlist? WTF?

A couple of the maps look the same as well aesthetically. I hope they are fun in unique ways and they don't feel samey.

Yeah. Sometimes I'm just itching for a rematch... If you don't want a rematch, you can always drop, but MCC doesn't give me a choice to stay. Hell, Gears even rewards you for sticking with the same players.

They changed the name of Rumble Pit? A little part of my youth just died.

343 likes a more direct approach. While names like Rumble Pit are fun it makes sense to use a name that specifies the mode. Maybe one day we'll get a social FFA playlist with with the Rumble Pit moniker (and maybe game types like Juggernaut).

It's one thing to be upset with a company or even the employees within said company and another to verbally attack to the point of slandering. Sadly, I have my own history of vitriol posting and it's definitely uncalled for and unprofessional/classless. Hard lessons to be learned and I'm still learning. Frankie is in a tough position being a PR guy for 343, but there is a reason he is on Neogaf and that's his love for gaming. He was here even before becoming a part of the Halo franchise. To his credit, he doesn't intentionally blow smoke in people's faces and I don't believe his responses are ever disingenuous or duplicitous.

I'm cool with the list and will definitely try it out before judging it like some people.

Some of you (not going to say any names) are making this into a Big Show. Take it easy guys, sheesh.

I think the playlist looks pretty decent for launch day. I will probably stick to arena and warzone lists. I would like there to eventually be a list without any slayer, or at least not BR/DMR starts. Maybe no voting will help cut down on being forced to play BR slayer 99% of all games.

Also want to thank Frankie and the 343 team for all the work they have put into the game and having a presence here (which can't be easy given how much low quality posts get traction in Halo threads here).

I'd like to know this too. Would also love for a "party up" feature. Having that 20 second lobby post match was always fun for some banter or the party up option. Also, seeing the Top 3 players/MVP of the game was always interesting.

I mean, the team objective playlist will be at its most populated at launch.

We all know it's gonna die, so why not let the people who enjoy Objective, enjoy it at it fullest, however long it lasts.

What I'm trying to say is FRANKIE, LET TEAM OBJECTIVE DIE WITH DIGNITY, UNLIKE KITTEN'S ACCOUNT.

This is my thought. I know why Team Skirmish is always removed. It's sad but it's the way it is.

It's absolutely a viable launch playlist though. I promise, no one gives a fuck if Team Arena has 100k or 150k players at launch. Once you reach a certain, fairly low threshold it simply doesn't matter how many people play.

Objective will never be added. Sad day.

And lol at the doubles comments. It'll be added later? Hello? Just put it in now if you expect to add it later.

I can only imagine they have data which suggests the player base increases when they add it later.

Frankie's not a PR guy for 343, he is the Franchise Development Director. I actually like some of the things 343 is doing in regards to Halo (basically repairing some of the damage they did earlier). I have no issue with most of it.

What I do take issue with is Frankie basically taking a mental dump anytime he posts. Show me one thing of value that he's actually posted here in regards to Halo. One. He's in a position of power at 343 and he treats the Halo community like a mental port-o-potty, and everyone thinks its like a great gift or something. I'm okay with differing opinions, provided those positions are logically defended and explained. If you want to explain and converse, great, I'm your guy. But if your only interaction with "your" community that you supposedly care so much about is to make asinine remarks about valid concerns, I'm no longer interested in engaging in a dialogue because it's very apparent that he isn't.

itll be just like ever other halo excluding mcc. mcc if i remember right kept you in a party when it launched but got thrown out in later patches because of all the problems that it was having. its annoying that they still havent added the feature back in.

He owes nobody any explanation or insightful posts, he can use this forum to shitpost as much as Elzar and I do.

Wow dude, stop digging, please?

that's just 343 giving you a reason to keep playing. Bungie did the same with the credit limit in Reach and with the once a week model in Destiny. They gotta keep you playing.

Maybe it's just me, but the thought of getting more booster packs and unlocking more stuff seems like more than enough incentive to keep playing.

Count me in as someone who wants breakout as its own playlist.

Little disappointed by the lack of an objective playlist, but hopefully they can add it in the future. I don't think these playlists are set in stone

I agree, but then no one should be upset when he get's replies in-kind.

Someone said FUCK YOU 343 YOU HAVE RUINED HALO. How can he have any meaningful discourse after that? He's been posting on GAF since before he was franchise development director. He can post however he sees fit. He's not here to just put out flames or answer whatever thing Halo fans are upset about.

Seriously look at your own posts this last page. Another issue Frank has is people use his posts for shit flinging on other communities or sites, or that someone will use a time he's misspoken and bring it up months later saying see he wilfully lied etc.

If i was in his chair id do the same thing. Most of the time Halo threads turn into "this is how you do it better" comments, but angry. These guys are not idiots, they get the feedback at one point or another. What they do with it is their choice.

I have said this time and time again on Waypoint: Some people do not want communication.... they want complete and utter compliance.

343i is making the game that they want to make. Hopefully, Halo 5 resonates with the people.

Please stop embarrassing yourself with potshots on Stinkles posts. He does not answer to you. He is here in the spirit of GAF, not to field questions as if he were in a stakeholder meeting...

Maybe by going over his concerns and explaining the reasons for 343s decisions? Seeking first to understand, then to be understood is a good way of going at this. One of the main problems people seem to have with 343 (me included) is that they don't seem to explain the reasons for any of their decisions. They didn't explain or give a legitimate reason for the re-design of the Jackals (no, the subgroup argument is not a good excuse. At least make them behave somewhat differently if they are supposed to actually be different), the pelican, Spartan underarmor, forerunner aesthetics, UNSC aesthetics, or Covie aesthetics; and any criticism of these is handwaved instead of explained in a clear and honest way.

The arena playlist is the HCS playlist. They want to roll breakout to HCS so they are trying it in that playlist...if it doesn't work josh says its getting removed. There is separate slayer and breakout playlists if you like.

Oh, BigShow is back?

How many content creators explain why they do what they do or what they did to their fanbase? I don't like some of the changes either, but they don't need to tell you why they changed the jackals. I hate the new design, but I don't need to hear 'we did it because our artists wanted to go in a new direction', 'we feel this look makes them more menacing'.

I loved the old UNSC logo, I loved the old Mark VI, I love Marty's music, I loved the SPNKr, and I am vocal about it, but I'm not sitting here insulting the devs because they won't explain why they were changed. Criticism is one thing, saying 'FUCK YOU YOU RUINED HALO' is another.

And just who exactly are you talking about here?!?!!?

;)

Oh you know who! :)

But no seriously... There's news that I'm disappointed about... But I can see the logic behind every decision.. Halo is different things to different people... But they've gotta nail the core experiences first, and fine tune from there... And that's what they are doing... I can't be mad at that...

I'm not going to call them incompetent... No way am I'm gonna say 'fuck the dev'. The franchise has become a victim of its versatility...the possibilities are so massive that there's no way they can 100% please everyone on day one...

We've been dealing with this vitriol since Halo2 launched... It's bullshit.
