Halo |OT14| They call it Halo

If John was born and raised until the age of 6 on Eridanus II, trained and augmented the following 9 years on Reach, and then for the next few decades fought the Covenant and Flood on various planets and synthetic worlds about the galaxy (and beyond!), how the heck is Earth his home?

Because it's the home of every human, of course.

Except those damn dirty insurrectionists.

Secret room in the Harvest, looks like the control room.

Reminds me of the interior of a Harvester.

Oh my god, please let this be true so I may only set fire to all that is Microsoft...

With all the leaks they might as well just say "Hey we got a new system coming out soon! (shows trailer for Destiny) Join us on *random date* for the full reveal"

But then again that would be if reality was awesome.

Destiny or Battlefield 4 is the only thing that'll make me purchase next gen consoles day 1.

Or if MS pulls the plug on Xbox Live for 360 at launch.

I am so glad Destiny is on the 360.

No intention of getting the new consoles for at least a year or two into their lifespan, that will give them time to build a library worth having and for all the technical issues to die down, I imagine they will be cheaper that way too.

So thanks Bungie!

I'll certainly be getting it on the next Xbox, but that's a really great idea making it cross-gen. I've always been amazed at what they are able to squeeze out of the box.

While you Xbox 360 play Destiny with Dx9 and 512mb of RAM I will be enjoying it with DX11.1 features (tessellation and ect) and 8 gigs of RAM!

(until the new Xbox probably explodes or some crazy shit)

Specs matter for nothing if the game is designed around the lesser specs and then ported, with compatibility and inter-polarity in mind, to the higher specced hardware.

In other words, fancy new hardware is a waste of money if you're just playing a port.

Yeah the only question is when, especially with BF4.

BF4 is slated for this year so it will probably be close to when the system launches. Unless its like Modern Combat 2 and they add the feature of every bullet shell staying on the ground lol

...actually that was a pretty random but cool feature.

But I can brag about my shiny new toy! lol

Trust me I know that while there will be improvements it wont be anything mind blowing.

Eh, if they build the game with scaling in mind Im sure the Nextbox version will be nice. They can easily talk and be compatible with each other while one looks vastly better than the other.

Is it for sure? All I've heard is beta this year, but a possibility of the game coming out early next year instead of this fall.

Bungie will need to make the max possible amount of money on PC as well so I don't think they will or should target too high of a spec.

As soon as it shows up on Wii U I'll get that version, even if I'm already bought in on Xbox. Dat off TV play

Things can change, but we should know everything we need to know in a few months anyways :)

That's true.

Either way, Destiny or BF4 in the launch window of the new Xbox will make me purchase it right away, and I think at least one of those is pretty much a sure thing.

Everyone is laughing.

How much I love Valve, I wouldn't mind seeing the Steambox fail next gen just to see reddit's reaction, would be interesting

Do you talk about anything other than reddit, the asshole of the internet?

It's only my second post about them, the first was about the update to /r/halo. calm your beans

I check r/gaming every now and then, occasionally there's something interesting.

Now 4chan...seriously, that place is fucked up. I don't even.

/v/ is my hometown

fyi the video games part of 4chan is more or less worksafe unless you go into waifu threads or see a furry porn hijack

It's also a tradition there that you don't talk about Halo until the kids go to sleep so most Halo discussion happens around 3 AM EST

That's what everyone said about the PS3

Now MS spent all that money to end up in third place

Seriously though, having tons of fun with the Wii U. Haters gonna hate

I know you're kidding, but being in third place in hardware sales this late means hardly anything. Microsoft and Sony get their money from software (and Gold/Plus). Selling more hardware (meaning more software) earlier on was more important, because software sales per customer were higher back then.

Good for Sony though, hopefully this means they can make the PS4 price match the new Xbox

Does anybody else feel like the armor designs in Halo 4 are really... busy?

Like, they're all packed with so many little details, that they all start to blend together and hard to tell apart?

The helmets are fine, I'm talking more the chest, legs and shoulders...

Not looking forward to BF4. BF3 is the Reach equivalent to the Battlefield series. DICE has already said that BF4 will be a direct sequel, no thanks.

Wake me when they release a 1944 or 2143

That's great that you're having fun with it, but the last two Nintendo consoles have had terrible third-party support, and outside of Ubisoft, it appears that third-party developers still don't give a shit about Nintendo for the most part.

MS is third in hardware sales, but I'm pretty sure they are first in software sales, and have the most lucrative online service (subscriptions and marketplace sales). Those are much more important in my opinion.

I was just joking btw, but I also don't expect to see Destiny on a Nintendo console anytime soon.

I tend to see a lot that agree with me :(

And I'll put reasoning behind it. The maps are too close quarters (they even released a DLC for more of them). The big maps don't even use the extra space that isn't a city. It's like the outside areas of H3's Standoff. The classes are a joke, there needs to be more options like BF2.

The destruction 3.0 was complete marketing bs by DICE, which they mysteriously stopped talking about 3 months before launch because they probably knew how lacking it was to what they said earlier. The campaign rivals CoD's on rails structure. And since BC1, I still feel like I'm running underwater the whole time with that engine.

BC2 Vietnam was one of the largest highlights of this gen.

Nintendo will never have good third party support. People buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games. The last time they tried to let the third parties have the spotlight with the 3DS launch, third parties completely botched it.

Having a Bungie game on a Nintendo console would be pretty weird though. Actually, I'm kind of surprised Take 2 didn't port Oni to the OXbox to cash in on Bungie becoming big with Halo.

I have a hard time disagreeing with this. Going from BF3 to BC2 mechanically is a drag, but god damn is that game fun. However, there are a lot of things that hold it back in my opinion.

BF3 takes the cake for me.

Arica Harbor Rush, with a full squad. Gatdamn. Used to run Medic with a Tommy gun. Pure bliss.

That right there is the only multiplayer experience that rivals Halo. Battlefield 3 has its moments as well.

Port Valdez all day every day!

EDIT: I like both BF3 and BC2.

Port Valdez, Arica Harbor, Oasis, Harvest Day, and not to mention Vietnam, so much great content in BC2. Such an awesome game. But like you, I love both BC2 and BF3. BF3 has arguably the best FPS mechanics out there and it captures the feel of being in battle perfectly. It also helps that you can tailor it to whatever experience you like

CQB to large scale vehicle battles, it's all there.
