We have a special announcement planned for the panel (which may or may not involve Great Anvils), and some fun activities will be going down at our booth every day of the event.

Forge announcement? Hype?

So the next TU sounds like it will be the balance one we all want. Please 343 remove PP, Boltshot and Plasma Grenades from loadouts!

There has to have been some reason behind it though. Its been a pretty key feature for so long, it just seems crazy to remove it.

Then again maybe your right and it was just the hectic development.

As Striker pointed out, it was probably to make that specialization seem not worthless.

Except that specialisation is completely worthless. The only way that perk could be useful whatsoever is if you've been sniped and you don't know where from.

Surely the kill cam thing would have solved that though, if it worked of course.

Return of the red X is really good news, but it's a little hard to get very excited for something that should have been there in the first place. While you're fixing HUD elements, seriously reconsider everything about how you treat objective carriers. I should be able to see the callsign of the carrier instead of having a bunch of space taken up by ESCORT, the carrier should be able to see his own flag when it's dropped instead of having the waypoint disappear entirely. Those things are infuriating. Come to think of it, if they really want to win me over, they should put the callsign below the red X so you know who is who when they're doing callouts. That'd be rad.

I'm curious about their new bi-weekly playlist update schedule. I would have said a year ago that the monthly updates Bungie and 343 did before weren't fast enough to catch and fix a significant amount of the problems that popped up in matchmaking, but hell, it seems like doing it weekly isn't enough either since 1-Site Extraction Haven is still totally fucked a week and a half after it goes live and it might not be fixed for another week and a half. So while I think having content on longer update cycle is fine, you absolutely need to be pushing out fixes for that kind of crap as fast as possible. I think having more meaningful updates is definitely a good thing, just not at the expense of being responsive to issues.

I am looking forward to seeing what comes out of the PAX panel, though, even if I don't necessarily think it'll address everything I want it to.
Social (all Battlefield-style 16v16 Big Team)
There's a reason that even Big Team never had that many players. Bungie has talked about why they kept the player counts the way they did, and it wasn't a technical reason. It was that as you increase player counts, you get fewer moments that make you feel like the hero. It works for Battlefield because they don't really emphasize the individual all that much, they emphasize the squad as a unit. The way they'd have to design maps and weapons to make them work for double the player count while still maintaining some semblance of the Halo feel means I wouldn't want to touch that part of the game with a ten foot pole. It doesn't really stay an arena shooter with vehicle fun at that point, it becomes an entirely different game. It's also increasingly difficult to give your players combat awareness and clarity when you add more and more moving parts. Yeah, it feels like a real big battle, but you lose something that is really important to Halo, which is being able to keep all the logistics in mind very clearly and reacting to them in a very specific way.

Okay, idea. Divide the playlists for Halo 5 into ranked and social.

Ranked
Rumble Pit
Team Doubles
Team Throwdown
Team Objective
Team Control
Team SWAT

Social (all Battlefield-style 16v16 Big Team)
Team Slayer
Invasion
Dominion
Extraction
Safe Havens

>>Browse...

"Browse" is a custom game browser to provide any additional fringe like Action Sack or Grifball.

To keep the 11 existing playlists active, you get EXP from all of these three main options - but Ranked and Social have permanent Double EXP.

Wouldnt it make more sense to just get half EXP for customs or even lower rather than double for the others...

Then why not make it 14x exp for ranked/social and 7x exp for customs.

This makes all the sense.

Because while I personally have no problem with either your proposal above or fractions, the average players aren't so good wit da maths stuffs, k.

Most derps can handle 1's and 2's. Orders of magnitude in either direction and that's not necessarily the case.

Maybe they felt that having X markers would add to the clutter on screen, although a cluttered UI is dumb in the first place. Regardless, I'm curious to hearing the actual reason for its removal even if it's just "why don't we throw it into the sun."

We’re pumped to bring this community request back to life and can’t wait to hear you screaming “ONE SHOT ON MY X!!” in Matchmaking.

Imagine if X markers were in the game already and you were pumped to introduce something entirely new to Halo instead of fixing silly decisions!!
