Halo |OT15| Beta-tested, GAF approved

...
Safe Havens (essentially up to 16v16 Infection meets Firefight meets Dominion, with the exception that all "enemies" are playable. No AI-controlled Flood)...

Depending on how this would be implemented, I think it could be pretty awesome. Maybe have their be a few different types of flood classes with unique weapons/"armor" abilities, supported by hordes of combat forms/infection forms. Something kind of like a Left 4 dead/firefight/invasion hybrid in Halo would make my day. Perhaps in Halo 5, 343?

Also, if this were to be on xbox 720, perhaps with the additional processing power we could have the ability to have hordes of A.I. teammates on each side: survivor side having marines, ODSTs and Elites (of course being infectable by the flood if not protected) and the requisite swarms of flood supporting the "special infected" players on the flood team. They would have to find a way to drastically improve the netcode over what we saw with Reach's firefight though.

Sorry for the random question, anyone have any experience with the Razer Sabertooth? Any good?

Not played much 4 in the past week or so, got a bit burnt out playing on me own :'(

Imagine how bad you would feel if you were a developer on this game and worked for years on it.

I'd be pretty distraught because from the sounds of it, the game itself is fantastic.

It's fun being burned by the people who don't understand there's a reason it's supposed to be always-on, and your publisher who apparently didn't provide enough resources to make the most important part of the game functional for everyone.

johns, johns everywhere.

So play Halo 1/2/3/ODST ;)

Or are you telling me Halo 4 is your favourite?

I'm playing Halo 3 fairly often. Trying to get the 50 in a couple of playlists, but sometimes I can't find games, because of the population. Halo 4 is okay, but it's not my favourite.

At some point you're just plugging your ears and ignoring the world around you. Halo's probably not going to go back to what you thought was great about it, so it's time to move on. Don't be that guy who gets dumped and never lets go of it.

I get what you are saying and I know, that it is the truth, but hopefully you are wrong.

Completely understandable, but posting the same thing over and over again doesn't do any good. If you hate the game, why post on a daily basis that you hate the game? What good does that do? Eventually we all come to understand who likes the game and who doesn't. The conversation that exists between those parties is great, commenting on what needs fixed, discussing balance, etc. However, just saying how bad the game is doesn't help anyone and just gets repetitive. We know "you" (in general) don't like the game, either dig into the specifics or just stop playing.

Yeah, it really doesn't help, to post every day, that you hate the game, but somehow, I can understand those people. They are desperate, because Halo 4 just isn't "their" Halo. If you are a fan, since the beginning and you get disappointed twice (or even more, who knows), it's understandable, that those guys want their experience back. The posts here are often repetitive and annoying, but somehow true, too. I started to read over them, because I must admit, that I'm sometimes overreacting.

That said, I'm sorry, if I insulted someone. Keep posting and peace. :)

EA is pulling marketing for Sim City and telling shops to stop promoting it. Man I'm scared for Destiny.

Just wait. Destiny will get heat about their always online when it's close to release. I chose to buy SimCity over Tomb Raider and EA made me look like a fool
not that hard, but still
. I hope Activision sees this and comes more than prepared now. Launches like what SimCity is going through can kill a game.

I just found a new way to go out of Midnight with the broadsword, the simpliest way you've ever seen, and I have to say it's awesome to go in the space, see other spaceships and go where you want to go.

With this glitch, I can say Halo 4 had definitly a gorgeous potential, but 343 Industries didn't offer to the players the freedom we should have had in a Halo game.

If have your own ship in Destiny is as good as this experience I just had, well, I think Destiny will be my favorite game for a decade.

I dunno where he was going, but my point is the number of games that can persist for years and years and years are A) very small, and B) on PC--there is and never will be a CS or Starcraft on consoles. Expecting developers to still be putting out maps and updates and support long after it is no longer financially viable to do so strikes me as foolish; that isn't to say it wouldn't be nice and a good gesture to players to offer better support on old titles (Halo has been bad on this score), but its simply not done on a wide scale anyhow.

I think the only thing keeping a 'platform' style of game from consoles is A) current consoles make it hard to title update. Microsoft has you pay per update and it has to go through their slow ass certification, Sony's service is awkward and has slow downloads. And B) No one has done it before.

That said, they most definitely can be financially viable to maintain, as seen by LoL, TF2, SC2, etc. Assuming the new generation fixes up their online services, the only thing stopping a console "Starcraft 2", so to speak, is developer cajones I'd think. I posted yesterday about how Halo should stop sequels and become like TF2, but few fucks were given.

Just throwing it out there: I'd love them to bring back on-map powerups on 60-120 second respawns depending on the map, but cycling through Overshield - Active Camo - Speed Boost - Damage Boost, in that order.

I don't think it will get as much because unlike games like Sim city the game's design is around being connected and encountering other people in the world. Sim city and Diablo before it were offline single player games that in the case of Diablo had a multiplayer component. The only reason both of those games forced players online all the time was simply money. In the case of Diablo it was the Real money Auction house and for the Sim's EA's pure greed.

I don't know. I'm imagining if what is happening to SimCity happened to Destiny. You won't be able to play a game that you just bought. Many will want to play alone for the sake of playing. Destiny will get just as much backlash because it'll turn into a main menu simulator like SimCity is now. Multiplayer or single player, that's not fun for anyone. I definitely see threads being made like, "Why can't there just be an offline option for Destiny? I just want to play my game..." If the servers are constantly down during launch week, those who just bought the game because they saw it on shelves and are not aware of its online model are going to return it instantly as well, like any sane person should.

Not that they would be excusable, but my understanding of Destiny has always been it being an online game akin to an MMO thus being always online is completely understandable.
SimCity on the other hand was not promoted as an always only experience and if it was, they didn't state it clearly enough and why it needs to be.

Never played a PC game so maybe someone can explain this to me...

So there is absolutely no way to play Sim city offline?

Surely there will be mods to allow it no?

If it can be done, I can see this leading to alot of piracy with this whole thing. Which is pretty ironic seeing as this only online thing was aimed at combating piracy...

Left for dinner as soon as I made that post. As I was sitting at the table, a thought popped in my head "WHY THE HELL DID I MENTION THEY WERE FRENCH?"

Halo population is so bad that I am meeting French dudes. He might or might not be posting on this forum. I never felt this disgusted by Halo.

Now I have him and Elzar on my friendslist. I am disgust.

This was my team against the above French guy btw:

Halo: Reach levels of bad.

Don't think you were actually raped in that match because I love you so it was done with love.

Hey can I use that?

Destiniy will have DMR and always being online right?

So the other day I got an invite from a guy I played with

Turns out he always rolls with a full party of French and Italian dudes

They keep yelling out orders and callouts but I have no friggin idea what they're saying so I just roll around gettin' kills

At least I'm having fun with the game now

Kinda

Welp, its like joining a Gaf group but in english.

With DMR games, You cant even pass the main menu if the servers are down or in maintenance unless you modify the game and play in a pirate server so yeah.

uhh because it completely drifted away and changed itself. it's no longer for you (or a lot of us for that matter). the quicker you can accept this the easier it is to get outta the rut. halo's not in some unique situation with this, series go south all the time, that just means it's time to stop giving it attention.

This is true, its a shame that most devs try to stop the tanking of a series by changing it into something different which only makes it totally tank :(

Did it get confirmed that Destiny will be always online?

So just a question would any Halogaffers be interested in getting access to the marvel heroes beta for it's Saturday and Sunday beta tests?

Because if so I might just give away a key for access to the special Alienware beta weekend.

When thinking about CQC kills, I wonder who thought that Hammer, Sword, and Shotgun kills didn't count at CQC kills. Then I wonder why they keep putting it in as a weekly challenge. The only playlist where it is realistic to get melee kills is Flood.

Halo 4 community infographic

We proudly present the first Halo community infographic. The response to this survey was really overwhelming. In total there have been 3210 surveys completed! It is very clear that the community wants more interaction with 343 Industries. At Gamersuggestions we want to facilitate this interaction. You can post suggestions and the community will rank them using a like/dislike system, this way developers can see in the blink of an eye which changes gamers want. We think Halo 4 is a great game, but it has so much more potential. Halo has a very loyal and vocal community that wants to help Halo 4 reach this potential.

For this purpose we have redesigned our site and it has gone live today. As a pilot we have added several categories (such as weapon balance, forge, gametypes etc.) to create an even better overview of which changes the Halo community wants.

The Halo community is active on several different sites. We want to combine the power of the community and gather and organize all suggestions and feedback at Gamersuggestions. If the community speaks with one voice, 343 Industries will have to listen. We will do whatever is in our power to get 343’s attention, but we need your help! Share this infographic, retweet this to @bsangel, post & vote on suggestions, share our site and do whatever you can to get 343 to listen!

I have no idea why, but Sunny never clicked with me. Saw a marathon of episodes last weekend and I am now kind of hooked. Damn you, Danny Devito.

well my network decided it doesnt want to allow my xbox to play on the network anymore.
Tried everything I can think of, assigned static I.P.s, mac address, yadda yadda.

This is bullshit, its been a few days like this. DRM is definitely going to be a big problem for me.

ner dfmr is top community suggestion? dmr is like the only good part of halo 4

The DMR is definitely a great, reliable weapon. The problem is that it's a tad too easy to land distant shots. I don't see why anyone would be against a reduction in the DMR's aim assist range. Let's make skill more of a factor when scoping from across the map.

dont gimp weapons because dumb people are leaving themelves exposed or suffering from the abysmal Certain Affinity/Digital Extremes map design. don't want to get melted, be smart in your movement. halo needs less random nonsense not more

This is part of the mentality why we have yet to see a Halo 1 Pistol equivalent.
