Halo Reach Off Screen Images

At the very least, I expect Cortana to make an appearance. There's the whole, "They let me choose, you know" line in Halo 3 (was it Halo 3?). It would not surprise me to see her make a cameo and we learn why she chose Chief over any of the other Spartans - even if we don't see Master Chief himself.

Beyond that, who knows. Going back, again, to "they let me choose", its possible each Spartan will have their own AI.

No Cortana during the events of Reach, afaik.

I don't think there'll be a main "AI" character, but I think Dr. Hasley will play a big role in the game just like GS, Cortana, Johnson, et al, did for Halo 1-3 and ODST.

I fail to believe these pictures were not an intentional leak. Why would someone bother taking pictures of the game if they're not clear. It looks like no one was stopping the guy so why not get some still shots with a camera that isn't ancient?

Unclear pictures are also great at whoring attention. It leads to a lot of chatter and snow balling which is works as a great marketing tool itself. Bungie is playing some guerilla warfare here.

Believe what you will, man. If they really wanted to leak something, I highly doubt it would be a group of blurry pics (see: Heretic). I would hate to be on the wrong end of the ass-chewing the testing groups are no doubt getting.

...Are..are you...are you some sort of moron?

I highly doubt it was a leak by Bungie. Why would they take pics of horrible looking, unfinished enviornments? The only one that looks remotely good is the one with the needler. (Weapon detail looks great though.)

So what happened to the other 20 screenshots this guy was supposed to leak?

I've been playing a bit of H2 Vista lately and noticed H2's infantry/vehicle combat works pretty well, vehicles feel a bit too overpowered sometimes in H3 (Remember that game of Gaffers Delight? Ouch) In H2 you find the rockets and lock on to something and its basically a guaranteed kill, which is nice, because, fuck vehicles.

I welcome it back as opposed to all the crazy random weapons they have now to get rid of vehicles: spartan laser, missile pod, turrets, power drainers, tripmines, you name it. None of them really work for their designed purpose either, besides Spartan Laser which is pretty much a sniper rifle for vehicles. The whole system was just a little too complex for itself.
Lock-on Rockets weren't as guaranteed as you would think. For Ghosts and Warthogs, it's a higher percentage, but on Banshees it is more difficult for higher skilled pilots. The Wraith was also more difficult to take out, because in Halo 2, you hit more damage from the Rockets by hitting the rear of the tank. In Halo 3 with the Laser, it doesn't matter.

The Laser wasn't only a "sniper" for vehicles, but it was just as good as a normal Sniper Rifle in maps like Standoff. At least with Rockets, you couldn't do those shots across the map.

Yeah. Most likely no Cortana. She's with MC on Halo during the Reach events.

If they are following the books, then the events of the game should take place before and during what happens in Halo:CE.

It's been awhile since I've read Fall of Reach but I think Cortana was on Reach when the planet was attacked.

She was already on the PoA when the Covenant attacked.

5 days before biggest competition launches....

Same day as Waypoint launches....

A fake "leak" isn't necessarily out of the realm of possibility. We've all seen companies pull stupider stunts than this one.

Regardless, hype +1 :D

Yup all reasons I prefer the lock on rockets. Also Banshees dodging the lock on rockets is much tougher than them dodging the lock on missile pods in H3.

No need for that. You just can't handle the truth.

I shall keep my point of view until this leaker actually leaks pictures that don't look like he was waving his camera around to get intentionally blurry pictures.

The reason I think Bungie would do that is because I believe they have a very good sense of viral marketing. Release some blurry pictures and no one can criticize the graphics but can look for hints at new features in the pictures. If anything, the weapons look much better in those blurry pictures than they do in Halo 3. Nothing to lose really. It creates anticipation, it creates user generated hype.

I don't get why people think the leak being through cell pictures means it's fake, or organized. The guy said he was playtesting or something, and he probably snapped a couple quick pictures on his phone when he couldn't be caught. You guys are acting like it being a real leak neccessitates the leaker posting YT videos in HD of him playing the game and creating screenshots. I think the fact that we're only getting these pictures proves it's a leak.

A lot of people are just stupid, sceptics are the worst.
Some people are sceptic just to be sceptic, they don't like to accept things off the bat.

During the Apollo program, each successful mission had around over 40,000 faulty parts (whether it be screws lose, faulty panels, etc) but they still made it.

No matter how secure a project is, unless you've got multinational government level suppression (and even then...) you've got no hope at keeping every mouth shut.

How long ago did the rumours start of a squad based Halo game? Maybe ODST put those rumours to rest, but Reach seems to be the real deal in terms of a squad based Halo game.

Nintendo somehow manages...

The Reach stuff starts when MC and Cortana are there, but they are involved with some of the space battle and are not down on the planet itself. They make their jump to slipspace (which leads them to Halo) while the rest of the Spartans are still down on Reach, and I am guessing that's where Halo: Reach will begin. Well I guess it would also make sense that the game begins as soon as the Red Team of Spartans makes it down to Reach, which would mean MC and Cortana are still above Reach doing their thing with the Blue Team of Spartans.

Once again though, this is all based on the idea that we get to play this game as the Spartans in the book which we know of. Going from the Reach trailer we got to see, it is completely possible that we would be playing as a group of Spartans we haven't even heard about yet based on the Spartan's (if they are indeed Spartans) callsigns: Sierra-320 and Sierra-259. These two numbers mean that those Spartans are not part of the Spartan II's that we are familiar with who are down on Reach (Fred's team). The Spartans we might get to play as could be the second group of Spartan II's that are apparently out there somewhere, or it could maybe even be a group of Spartan III's.

Can't wait to find out. =/

Has Bungie said anything new about the game?
Any kind of new info like when a trailer may be released or if they'll talk about the leak in a podcast?

Halsey was told that the next waves of Spartans couldn't happen because of the lack of available candidates and that the funds had been diverted. What if higher-ups just decided to go ahead with using so-so prospects and didn't want to tell her?
That's the only theory I've come up with. If they were Spartan IIIs, wouldn't they have different letters in the call sign? Plus, according to the halo wiki, Reach happened after S-III Alpha and Beta companies died, but before Gamma was trained.
I think there's an opportunity for the new Spartans to be something else, but I don't think they can be Spartan 3s.

Yeah, I agree. Whoever the Spartans are in Halo: Reach, they will most likely be Spartans that are brand new to the Halo universe. Maybe there may still be a chance that we might see or hear of the Spartan II's that are on Reach though.

I would love a mention of Blue Team and Spartan 2s from the books. But I'm not expecting them to have roles in the story, just background cameos. Like hearing about Kelly and Red Team's pelican crash or something. If they actually are involved in the story, I'll be extremely happy and surprised.

I agree. I'm not expecting them to be an actual part of the story, but it would just be cool if they were acknowledged or mentioned.

Crazy theory is crazy: I think that's the new Rocket Launcher.

You can see the curves from the H3 Rocket Launcher on the top right of the thing as well as the positioning of the Spartan's left hand in FP view on the bottom. The reticule of the Missile Pod and RL seemed to have been meshed together, as well.

I have a feeling he's talking about the object the rocket launcher is pointed at.
