Halo: Spartan Assault - leaked screens (WP8 game?)

Oh wow, don't care about that at all if it's W8 phones
or iOS/Android

Maybe I'll try the PC version, since I have Windows 8

She is the most-beloved character of the game. Ask HaloGAF. Especially the way she says Egghead is seductive...

Yes!

nobody in its right mind would rather have a fast sprinting and expert sniper woman spartan set at the front of the Halo Universe.

Praise 343i writting chops.

still nobody wants to rehost the pics on imgur...

This 'leaked' image just added some titles that were domain registered days before. It's still fake. (the image, not the game)

If this goes toward that "15 game exclusives" crap, I'm gonna punch MS.

Yes. Punch the company. Just pow, right in the building.

Supports 360 controller... not available on XBLA? Unless they're announcing it later. I want to play this but don't have a Windows 8 device of any sort.

Oh well, looks fun anyway

GAF's Bob Woodward
Hurm. Innocent until proven guilty I suppose.
Do we know if it's 343 or someone else? (Can't see the links at work)

Apparently it's being made by an Amsterdam studio founded by two of the people who co-founded Guerrilla.

Interestingly, when I first saw this I thought 'is it Halo's Killzone Liberation?'

And guessed the correct font for the Spartan Assault logo?

That seems... unlikely.

As for this, it looks kinda fun. I'm glad they seem to be using some of the Halo Wars vehicles (there's a Wolverine).

Oh, more thoughts:

Motion comics for cut scenes? Eww. I will never understand what 343 think is good about them. They were crappy on the Halo 4 terminals too.
It feels bizare if this doesn't hit XBLA, given it's a twin stick shooter.

It's the horrible irony of this industry (all entertainment industries really), that the most loved things we have are treated with the least reverence. Halo is so beyond this it's embarrassing.

Spartan Assault's operations, with names like Umbra, Captured Chance and Frostbite, are presented as missions in a UNSC tactical simulator. Players will be able to jump into these missions and battle waves of Covenant while escorting troop transports, piloting classic Halo vehicles or rendezvousing at a landing site. The Windows 8 game will also feature daily and weekly challenges, and taking part in these events can net players unlockable rewards in Halo 4 and Halo Waypoint.

The new content unlockable through Halo: Spartan Assault is new and exclusive, according to 343 Industries. The developer held back on a few unlockable items, a rep said, apparently an attempt to incentivize Halo fans to take a chance on the arcade-style Halo game — and maybe Windows 8 as a platform.

Ugh, I fear we will see a lot of that in the future. Play our shitty mobile game to unlock rewards in the game you actually want to play.

There will also be full CGI cinematics, as Commander Sarah Palmer and Spartan Davis undertake their first missions and relive classic battles via a tactical simulator aboard the UNSC Infinity. Small 'snippets' of CGI cutscene will also move the story along, which is set between Halo 3 and 4

Palmer?

Tablet game and a terrible character? Sigh.

I knew they'd try to push Palmer down our throats. They want her to be the next Sgt. Johnson or Arbiter type character who we'll all come to love. She's perhaps one of the most hated characters introduced.

And newsflash 343, the Halo series has always been about the game that launched on xbox or the games that came after it. It was always about Halo CE-3, not about books, toys, movies, shows, comics etc.

That's the Halo 4 font and it's all over the place. And the logo is different. Sizes, justification, spacing. Usually there is a brand stamp for game logos that they don't deviate from. I'm probably being super picky about it though :)

looks like great, simple, arcade fun to me. hopefully it'll be on one in some form as well.

Except that is not true and Halo has been a multimedia franchise for a while now

this - clearly is not some big surprise that MS is putting all their E3 hopes and dreams into. Not sure why people can't take it for what it is and enjoy it if its a good game.

Its not available on PC, its only available on Windows 8 OS, and that is not a real PC OS. Its a messed up, choppy piece of crap that is heavily promoting the use of tablets.

Ever since playing Halo 4, I've been dreaming of a Halo game where I could play as the great character Sarah Palmer, with the precise control only virtual buttons and sticks on a touch screen can provide.

Being serious though, the trailer makes it look. . .alright. I wonder how much F2P stuff will be forced into it.

EDIT: I also notice in the Eurogamer preview the developer states it should take two hours to complete the campaign. Is that normal for this type of game on these devices? Seems short.

Just because it became a multimedia franchise means it's not true? What? Halo has been and will always be about the main FPS game. No matter what they come out with next. And yes, games like Halo Wars are nice to get because it supplements the universe and adds mix to the series, but the main series is all that will ever matter.

The original trilogy is gone and over, Halo is just going to keep on going and expanding, you can only milk that original trilogy for so long, and they have already beaten that horse pretty well already. They have been pushing away from the original trilogy for a long time now with its expanded materials. The original trilogy is done and over, time to accept it and move on.
