Happy Birthday PS Vita Sale

Somebody stop me. I will never play all these, especially the Atelier games - at best I will try out Rorona. This $100 thing is the bane of me. Why am I so obsessed with getting that $15? argh

Haha, tell me about it. I've already spent $30 here, $30 there... Still haven't got Atelier games yet. Does anyone know if Sword Art Online is any good?

Make us all proud and hit the buy button.

Edit: Well, you could switch Yakuza with something that's on sale. Maybe more Vita games? Can't go wrong there.

I already own everything else and I needed ~$20 filler :( I also love Yakuza to death but heard Dead Souls was so bad that I've avoided it

I've posted about this before, but is this localization is lacking in several departments, it's much more than just changing a script for a dubbed version.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=153386801&postcount=424

It seems as though both Tales of Hearts R and Hollow Fragment received budget localizations.

I've seen these complaints before and I'm not gonna lie they seem like very minor complaints from the minority of the fanbase. No way in hell does it compare to the SOA localization, be serious.

Alright, I think I'm going to just buy something when I get home, and let it download as I sleep.

It's a toss up between...

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
EDF

For those that have played them, are they half decent ports? Is EDF the same basic game as the 360 EDF, or is there a lot of content missing?

I'm really torn.

It doesn't really change the fact that the localization could've been handled much better.
No, it's not as bad as Hollow Fragment, that localization was really in need of QA.

However so was ToH R and it didn't receive the same amount of care and attention that Namco usually puts in their localizations.

EDF on Vita has more content and is basically the definitive version. There is a second character with hundreds of completely different weapons, and seven extra missions with new enemy types.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 I haven't played, but it's supposed to have more content but also major changes that people complain about. Consensus seems to be that it's intended to be easier than the original.

is Fate/EXTRA any good? I'm a fan of the Fate Franchise but it hurts that CCC was never released.

I just spent 49.99 on Plus so I might as well reach 100 haha.

Sigma2 is a broken mess. Frame rate is unplayable.

Of course New Little King's Story, Dracula X (this I already knew), Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus and the Toro theme (!) aren't available on the Brazilian PS Store.

Fuck this shit.

Damn you, NeoGAF! Spent $100.95 that I really, really didn't need to spend! Well, $50 anyway (I needed to renew PS+.) Got all three Atelier games, a year of PS+ and the Transistor PS4 theme (which is incredible.)

Someone compare the grindiness of the atelier games to the grindiest game you've ever played.

Me: Disgaea is the grindiest non-MMO game I've ever played. I'm thinking the only games that are grindier are Monster Hunter games and their brethren. I don't quite have the patience for MonHun.

The grinding is nothing in this game, and you only need to grind a little if you want to max your level or get the best equipment for everyone. Grindiest game I've ever played was probably that free-to-play Destiny of Spirits game. I can't believe I wasted so much time on it, and it wasn't fun.

Edit: To compare it to Disgaea, it's really very light. I'd say Disgaea is a 6 while Atelier is a 2. Destiny of Spirits was an 8.

neat. I'll give one of the atelier games a shot. I presume the newest one is the most accessible?

They're all equally accessible and pretty similar. I've played Totori and Meruru, and I'd recommend Totori. Story-wise, it's Rorona>Totori>Meruru, but Rorona is a remake of the original and includes cameos of Totori and Meruru. If you're ever only going to play one, then I guess Rorona would be a decent choice, but I recommend Totori.

I had a lot of fun with the game, with over fifty hours across two playthroughs. Honestly, it's one of the best original PSP RPGs I've played.

#realtalk is Monster Monpiece a fun game if I don't like little girls that way?

I dunno if we're allowed to even talk about this game on GAF so I'm scared to even post about it :(

I haven't played it but I've heard there's a legitimately good card game if you can wade your way through the lewd art and incredibly awkward Vita-fapping minigame. Too bad you can't turn that stuff off. Can't say it interests me too much though since I don't play many card games. Then again I like Senran Kagura and Neptunia so my opinion is worth about -1/10.

I will buy SAO later.

Already posted this in 2 threads though, but I try here too. Anyone has a 1 month PSN trial? I tried to get the 14-day trial, but I have to activate a credit card and for the US PSN it seems they only accept US CCs.

For a guy with a huge PS3 backlog and Vita backlog that has to play all of the new Ateliers (after the Arland trilogy) and have them waiting, is it worth it for me to get Rorona/Totori/Meruru again on Vita even after platinuming them on PS3? I loved them as you can tell by the platinums....

It's a fun game. As long as the art style doesn't repulse you, you should be fine. You don't have to be a pedo to like the game. Also, this game isn't really a card game. It's kind of like a simple RPG version of Plants vs Zombies where you're trying to get to the other side as well.

I think you're mixing this game with Criminal Girls (which I believe we're allowed to talk about the gameplay).

Are you a true Atelier fan? Look into your heart and you'll know the answer.
It's just a portable version of the games with all their respective DLC, so there's no new content. But I think it's worth it. Playing them on the go is great, and Atelier games are always fun.

I think I'll pass and might just get Rebirth 1 instead. I still have to do the new Atelier trilogy anyways and holy shit 2015 is populated with games!!!

I didn't beat the main story of the game, but I put at least 50-70 hours into SAO and loved it :D. It has a fun combat system, great mechanics (so many different weapon types and sword arts to play around with) and the party system is very well done (for once you have smart AI backing you up in a game; they listen to commands you give them and they even learn your orders: for example, you tell your party member to be more aggressive in combat, they remain aggressive until you say otherwise).

The story is 'meh' and the fan service might be a bit off putting for some (I found it priceless considering the context of the games world; your main character is married to someone in the game....yet all the females flock to him like he is the only male in the SAO XD!), but don't let that detract from one of the content-rich games on the Vita thus far :). Gladly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and deep JRPG :).

Picked up the Atelier's, God Eater and Castlevania

16.07 shy of hitting that 100 dollar mark and getting 15 back... Maybe Sword Art or Hatsune, though I've had no prior experience with either.

I thought it was a fun card game but some may find it a little repetitious.

Well, I ended up getting it. Hope its
fun
;)

Decided I didn't want to spend too much so I just got Atelier Rorona (Own Totori and Merury) and sword Art online.

Niches Odyssesy IS only 5 bucks but I needed to cut back. Also took off Tales of Heart R. Will wait for that to be 60% off or more as well.

cOME ON now, you're a part of SteamGAF, just get it :V

can you like buy Firefly Diary instead T_T

Firefly Diary's got really mixed reviews and controls are among its chief issues.

Does getting ps+ count under the spend $100 promo?

Yes it does.

Like I'm supposed to know that? It's been in the OP since yesterday. How would I know when a game is on sale outside of tediously checking it every day or seeing a GAF thread?

You only need to 'tediously check' once a week. Store updates on Tuesdays. There are very occasional weekend flash sales (no more frequent than once a month) but there are big threads about those. I'm not sure why you're giving the person you're responding to attitude... it's not like sony hides what is on sale every week.

Bummer that I missed it. I try not to follow sales too much since it helps me from spending more then I should.

Also, did the Killzone devs ever condense the patches? I only have an 8 GB card and that would take up a lot of space.

Yes, it's 3635MB now.

Are there any redeeming qualities for Valhalla knights 3? Is the combat fun? 7 member party sounds fun.

What about COD? Is the online still alive? Do you get the psp version of COD along with the game too?

Is that Toro theme up on the store? I can't seem to find it.

And is Killzone actually on sale, or are people just talking about it? lol
