Happy Birthday PS Vita Sale

My hatred to time restrictions in an rpg kills the series for me completely, I dont mind the crafting though.

That's exactly my issue. I mean, I know people say the time limit is generous, but as soon as I want to recraft some item with better materials, but know it'll cost, say, 19 days to finish, and i only have, say, 2 years left... I can't help but get stressed/frustrated and not know if 'this is the item' that would make me run out of time. Let me craft in peace, dammit. If i have no idea how many more thing I need to craft, any time limit makes me feel like re-crafting (which is important and integral to the game) is flirting with disaster.

I picked up Valhalla Knights because I'm intrigued by the large party based combat system, it's only $6, and I remember someone loving it.

Picked up sword art online because so many seem to love it.

Picked up tiny troopers because of this review:

I'm on the fence about Earth Defense Force and Deception... i want both, but i think i can wait for the next sale given my ridiculous backlog.

I generally don't like Time limits but the Atelier series does it well, Vanilla Rorona was difficult but anything after was easy.

It's just there so you think carefully of what you want to do and then play again for those crazy dungeons and extra endings.

I just wasn't pulled into Totori, thats probably why its way back in my backlog so I think I will skip the other two for now. Strongly thinking of picking up DBZ though just to fool around with it.

what is the restriction exactly?

Only a certain amount of in game days to complete and if not managed well enough will fail you. Traveling from place to place can eat up your days. Not only this but are tasked with needing to do orders to continue as well which also can eat up some days.

Where do I find the free stuff like the Toro theme?

The last time EDF went on sale was almost exactly a year ago. I'd grab it now if you're interested. It doesn't go on sale terribly often these days.

i think it's the fact that there doesn't appear to be a "fail" state in the game for time. or at least i haven't seen one. it's just counting down while i do things

dont worry about the time limit. Unless you are just carelessly wasting time deliberately or something, you'll be fine.

I'm sure if the people here who complain about it being 'too much pressure' just continued on with the game, they'll be able to finish the game on a good ending.

you have a certain amount of years before the game ends. moving across the world map, spending time with characters, battling monsters, and crafting (the core of the game) eats days. once you reach the end depending how much you accomplished, you'll get either a bad, okay, or good ending in some form.

I finished the game and didn't get the best ending because I wanted to experiment with the combat/crafting. Sure, I could replay for a better ending, but why would I do that when I didn't find the first playthrough satisfying?

Sorry but no. I came from playing rpgs where I had all the time in the world to explore, level up, ect. So having any set of time will make me fail since I usually put a ton of time into doing side missions and other things.
waste of in game time? Yes. Waste of my own time? No

To be fair there are guides out there (many without spoilers) that will guide you through Totori so you don't miss anything, can do everything, be the completionist you want to be and bask in the charm in the game without having an internal crisis over "what if I miss something / what if I run out of time".

My only qualm is that I really wanted to see these characters age over the arbitrary 5-year journey that the game system mandates.

Sounds like you just plainly didnt like the game. And thats fine, Atelier isnt for everyone

You might want to look into Atelier Shallie, which removes time limits altogether.

I didn't like the game because the time limit caused me to continually stop doing what I found enjoyable. I would have enjoyed the game a lot more without the time limit.

I understand Atelier isn't for everyone, and one aspect of that is the time limit. For some that is not a problem, but for those with a mindset similar to mine looking to buy the game I think my point of view may help make an informed purchase.

(This is for Totori ftr)

I played Totori into year 2 and half or so. I had no idea what I was doing. But I was confident I would finish it. I never did finish the game, got sidetracked and didn't bother to reinstall it.

The point is. I too hate time limits. The good thing about these games is it's pretty tough to fail, even if you try to tank it.

Yeah vanilla rorona, what a beast. It is the game that cured me of wanting to get platinums.

Tales of R any good? Really want to buy some stuff on this sale, but the "80% off" is a bit misleading. Most of it is like $5 off.

finally playing rondo of blood

Word. Just FYI there's some good youtube vids and FAQ's to get to the things you need to unlock the original Rondo of Blood and that version of SotN. I initially didn't care for the 2.5D remake, but after finally getting to play and love the shit out of Rondo of Blood, I came to appreciate some of the things the remake added.

Contrary opinion - it's a pretty good mix of survival horror & a roguelike (emphasis on roguelike).

I agree. It's an ok game, works as a portable game, and it's just Silent Hill iconography/fan service in a blender. No reason it can't be taken less seriously and have a spin off that does nothing that SH normally does. It's as inoffensive imo as the arcade beat 'em up of Aliens Vs Predator is... with Alien being another thing people really take being "true to the spirit of" seriously.

Put a few hours into Valhalla Knights 3.

It's um...hmm

After convincing a few people to speak to a priest, I was awarded a tiny bikini..which has better stats than any of my other armor + gives me health every time I hit someone.

The shops are like hostess bars. I pay a cover charge, buy equipment/potions, hand gifts to the girl, and occasionally there's "sexy-time" (rub the screen to fill her affection meter)

This is the weirdest prison ever.

I don't get this

I'm really thinking whether to get
Jak & Daxter Collection
and COD Declassified
omg
omg

omg

Don't get COD.

I got the COD Vita Bundle back in the day.

I played the game, it was terrible.

I threw it in the trash, it was on my desk the next morning.

I tried to burn it and it broke my lighter.

It will haunt your dreams.

Any opinions on Home? I was thinking of getting it,and Sumioni
(I only have 6 bucks to spend =/)

I've only played the PC version which is $3, so I'm not quite sure if the PSN version adds more since it's normal price is $5. Maybe it's just due to crossbuy or something.

The game is a choose your own adventure style 2D walking simulator. I don't remember if there's any puzzles, but if there was then they probably didn't impede my progress too much. If you like the idea of a choose your own adventure story kind of game with a few different paths then it might be alright.

I personally thought the game was a lot of nothing and if you're low on funds then I don't see any reason to waste the money.

Besides that I'm planning on buying SAO, New Little Kings Story, and Gods Eater Burst. Thinking about Sumioni, Let's Fish, Valhalla Knights, and Orgarhythm just because they're cheap even though I know nothing about them. Also thinking about EDF because it's EDF. I''ve heard good things about Tales of Hearts R and I've never played a Tales game, but would rather have a physical version. I'm also contradicting myself since I'm thinking about throwing $20 at Miku just for the digital convenience opposed to my physical version.
