Happy Birthday PS Vita Sale

Can anyone confirm that if you use a free trial of plus you still get the plus prices? Also, if you buy a game with the plus price am I correct in assuming nothing will change once your plus subscription ends?
Correct. My friend got me a 2-day trial & I was able to nab Yakuza 4 & Transistor so theyr're on my account for when I get PS+ again. & yes, your game will still be available to play after your PS+ runs out if you bought it on sale. It's only unavailable if it's free on PS+.

Oh okay, thank you! Digging around a bit, it seems like only Rorona Plus had a physical release on Vita, the other two were only release in the US digital only (and Ayesha Plus apparently just came out).

None of the localized vita Atelier games have physical copies, they're digital only.

Will probably grab Tales of Hearts R. Maybe Sword Art Online, although the translation sounds horrendous.

Tempted to grab an Atelier game, though I don't know if I'd enjoy it. What is the game like?

I'm dithering between which game to get with Atelier Rorona...

It's either Hyperdimension Neptunia or Sword Art Online. Any thoughts on which way I should go? I've never seen the Sao Anime if that matters.

I'm deciding between SAO and Tales of Hearts R, both of these seem to rarely go on sale but they both seem to have botched translations lol.

I haven't played the game myself but I've heard from others that you should at least watch the first 14 episodes of SAO before diving into Hollow Fragment.

Alchemy crafting to make money and become a better alchemist meets final fantasy lite meets slice of life moe anime.

Hmm okay that's interesting, not sure I want to get invested in an Anime to play the game. I'll keep that in mind.

Tales of Hearts R doesn't have a botched translation. They made some choices (with regards to names and some other minor things) that some people don't like but to someone who doesn't know Japanese, its fine.
SAO, on the other hand, looks like a machine translation. These are night and day situations.

Personally, I'd go with Neptunia Rebirth. Neither game has an award-winning story but at the very least HDN doesn't take itself seriously and the translation isn't cringeworthy even if some of the dialogue (in both games) is.
It might also sound like I didn't enjoy my Nep Neps from that tiny bit of text but I actually did. I just won't pretend its an awesome game. I can definitely see why someone would consider it less-than-stellar but I like it anyway.

What's the differences between the 3DS and Vita versions of VLR? I'm tempted to get it on sale here.

the Vita version doesn't have the save bug or something like that.
get the Vita version.

thank you Sony for remembering the Vita
and ... lol _hekk05 must be happy with the Atelier sale

3DS has better touch controls, but it has the bug that can cause your save to go bye bye if you save in a puzzle room.

Vita version has trophys which means easy platinum if you 100% the game. Took me abou 30 hrs on the 3DS and I could barely put the game down.

My Impressions: everyone get Tales of Hearts R. After playing through it, it ranks as my #2 Tales Of series after Vesperia. Amazing game, and hilarious to boot. Loved it.

Huh? I thought the ToH R translations were fine. Where'd you hear they were botched? o.O

Basically you can tell Namco got a translation team that was not used to translating Tales games for this localization.

Among other issues there's no continuity with the rest of the series in terms of naming.
Also, even if you only know the slightest bit of Japanese, you can tell how much of what they are saying is not represented in the text.

So, what exactly does this mean? Is the game really about marketing or something?

It's more about crafting than anything else. You gather materials and combine them in an extremely deep crafting system with a bit of time management thrown in on top.

Wow that good? I can't decide between tales and SAO ;_;

Yes sir/madam. I've played all available US Tales-Of series, and I loved Hearts R. It's not as good as Vesperia (Personally, I believe this is a flash in the pan, never to be repeated part of the series), but it is really funny, fun and easy to play, and I would recommend everyone snag it that hasn't already done so, what with the new PSN sale.

Wow I already bought all the games that I want there, still a good sale. Any good JRPG I missed in this list?

  • Atelier Rorona Plus
  • Atelier Meruru Plus
  • Atelier Totori Plus
  • Deception IV: Blood Ties
  • Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth1
  • Monster Monpiece
  • New Little King’s Story
  • Sword Art Online -Hollow Fragment-
  • Tales of Hearts R
Picking up this tho 'Toro and Friends PS Vita Theme' and Oreshika next week.

Hm, I've never had PS+ on my US account, any free trials floating around? That Tales of hearts price with PS+ discount is very tempting.

So after all the clamoring about VLR, I decided I'd finally listen to gaf and take the bite for 7.50. Turns out it's been in my download cue for like, a long time lol. Supposedly from PS+ in Jun of 2013.

Well poop lol

Is Atelier any good?

Rorona Plus is the only one of the Atelier games on sale that I have played myself but it is fun. Definitely worth $15 or so, and doesn't go on sale often. Quirky JRPG that has a big emphasis on crafting and alchemy so it isn't for everybody, though.

What region-locking situation? I wasn't aware that there was one at all?

There is no region locking, you just can't have two PSN accounts on the same amount memory card. It's a bit annoying, but nothing like 3DS, which is completely locked down.
