Haydee

I... I am disappointed on so many levels. The OP made it sound better than it looks that is for sure.

I'm slightly intrigued with the back of her head. Are those plugs? Used for anything?

I'll probably just pretend this game doesn't exist.

The circular segmented ring is a health meter, which I think is a pretty nice HUD decision. I don't know about the other dots.

If the protagonist looked like a normal robot, or hell, the same robot but with regular proportions, I could probably enjoy the game.

But you have to do this every time you climb a ledge.

That tops the list of things I didn't expect to see today

Its a shame because I would have been inclined to check this out if it wasn't for the obnoxious character design.

It even has controller support ffs. What a waste.

The game looks really unappealing. Enviroments are really boring and uninspired, gameplay doesn't seem that fun either in the trailer. I can only compliment the character model. While that bouncing is way over the top, I don't think full-figured woman/robot like this often gets sexualized in games. So that is kinda good!? I'm confused.

I like TnA like the next guy or gal....but come on.

like from a pure art standard, it doesn't even work. Why does this robot suddenly have a human ass? It would be "better" if was just all robot.

I mean to each his/her own...so if people are into this more power to them..but yeah.

The steam description says she's half human, half robot. So more like a cyborg, really. From that perspective it makes more sense that she has human features..
LMAO someone actually made a Haydee thread haha.
I liked what I played of the demo so the lack of a thread seemed odd to me. I just wish the thread had more discussion about the actual gameplay aspects of the game. I know the game's camera and character design make the fanservice very apparent but that's not the only part of the game and discussion seems very skewed towards talking about the character above all else. :(
It kinda hurts a bit since I'm genuinely enthusiastic about this. Like, I don't mind discussion about the character design, but I'd like to see more, y'know?

I wonder if they're trying to use the character model to draw attention to it. I mean, it would fade into complete obscurity if not for it.

Is controller support uncommon? It seems like its harder to find games that don't support controllers.

As a controller user whose main platform is Steam, the controller scene has definitely gotten better over the 5 years I've been on it, but you'd be a little surprised at the number of games that still don't get controller support. It's still something I have to look out for when buying titles.

2D platformers debuted on consoles with controllers decades ago, but you'll have platformer-ish games like Starbound that don't have controller support for movement. Terraria was on Steam for several years before it got controller support, after virtually all the console versions were released. Various previous-gen console games ported to PC didn't get pad support either.

Then you'll have games that DO support controllers but don't even list it on the store page, like Paladins currently does. I would have completely passed the chance to play this if it weren't for other people telling me it did, in fact, support controllers. And good luck if you ask a dev about possible controller support on a Steam Community hub, PC elitists will climb out the wood work to tell you to git gud or go back to consoles.

I play simulator games and point-and-click titles just fine with M/KB, and I don't even mind navigating the menus with M/KB on other genre games (I do this with TF2 + Warframe and just use the controller for actual gameplay). Thankfully, as more console devs warm up to Steam, I've had to search less for controller compatible games, but the mere inclusion of this small feature n Haydee is enough to give it a little nod of respect, even if other aspects of the game need some work or fall short.

For EA titles? Yeh it is, especially at this early stage.

I know you meant Early Access (and most don't include pad support early on), but you reminded me of EA's Origin, and on the topic of controllers, the single reason I keep off of Origin is EA's sketchy support of PC Pad players. As someone whose hasn't (yet) jumped onto a current gen console, EA has completely lost me as a customer because of this. I have a bunch of their stuff on X360 I boot up once in a while, but nothing from the last few years.

Sure, 3rd party apps can give some of those games the support, but I don't want to deal with them, especially when so many other devs don't treat me like a second-rate player for sticking with a controller.

You know it's almost impossible to talk about gameplay on gaf when there are tits in a game bigger than c-cups.
Maybe if it's an already established series like Senran Kagura with a decent following and it's anime styled so most people ignore it out of principle.
It's actually nice to see a game looking like this on steam has a really good rating.

Because games are not all about gameplay.

I know some devs like to wear their fetishes on their sleeves, but sheesh. At least this dev is embracing it rather than trying to skirt around the issue, and for once the woman has a rarely represented body type. That being said, the idea of Haydee being half-human is horrifying when you consider that there are dozens of identical, inactive 'cyborgs' exactly like her lying around, most of them dead.

From playing the demo, the game is actually fairly technically competent, it's just that there are several questionable design decisions, such as the obtuse climbing mechanics, difficulty, the severely limited ammunition and the implementation of what is effectively an ink ribbon system. I get that it's supposed to be hard, but sheesh.

That being said, there are sparks of a good game in here, it's just that it could do with some changes. Right now it's basically mediocre.

But it is the most important part of a puzzle game.
And going into a thread saying "lol tits xD this game sucks" isn't exactly discussing anything about it either.
Someone posting "lol tits" doesn't stop you from having a discussion, nor does its genre (puzzle game) disqualify other aspects of discussion.

If you have a problem with the discussion, take it up with the dev, they're responsible for how it's marketed.

"Haydee" is a hardcore old-style metroidvania mixed with modern-day third person shooter and platformer mechanics. As well as a sexy character."

That's not exactly promoting only the gameplay and i'd argue their description (and dumb character) is obscuring it.

Call me crazy maybe, but this game honestly feels like Tomb Raider distilled to its absolute core components - similar gameplay at its bare essentials, and a female protagonist who has virtually no other real notable traits other than her sex appeal.

They're not exactly going out of their way to promote the gameplay and id argue they're trying to hide it. This is marketing (and probably a fetish).

Are you talking about the 4chan spam? Otherwise I'm not really seeing how they're trying to hide the gameplay. Apart from "sexy character" the whole steam description is about the gameplay only.
I'm not saying they aren't blatant about their interests but it would be nice if that wasn't the only thing people would mention without even trying to look for any other reason to say the game seems bad.

Games like this and DOA Extreme etc make me feel ashamed to be a gamer, what a completely and utterly pathetic way to sell a game.

People know that there is porn on the internet, right?

Like, for free? And not attached to a terrible game?
Well, there's quite a bit more of it now thanks to this game. If that was an intentional side-effect on the developer's part, I tip my hat to them. Crazy Russians.

So when this gets cheap enough it's gonna be the new Bad Rats, right?

I know if it shows up in a bundle everyone I know will have a fabulous gift waiting for then.

Eh, I wouldn't go that far. This game does actually show some competence, it's just hampered by some questionable design choices.

I don't think titillation existing necessarily implies it existing for the same purpose as porn. Personally, I find that it makes video games more enjoyable as its own extra fun aspect on top of the gameplay that's already there. As in, its something pleasant to look at while playing a game (well, for those that like such content anyways). Plus some might argue that such content is better than porn, as it leaves more to the imagination. Like, not everything that has sex appeal necessarily exists for the same reason porn does.

....Plus I actually like the game.

Gotta love how they made the character have absolutely nothing for a face, not even glass eyes or anything, making sure to remove all personality or character off "Haydee" and make her more of a literal object with ass, tits and high heels.

Such a weird premise.

Putting aside the erotica, I kind of dig the games aesthetic, 3D puzzle, survival horror and hardcore difficulty sensibilities.

It's obviously not as polished as a AAA title, but for an indie studio, it's honestly a damned impressive game. The idea of being an endless line of identical grown/built sapient beings forced into a giant, lethal, rat maze forced to die over and over until you learn from your predecessors mistakes is brilliant alone, let alone the putting in the effort of making it a fully realised and deviously well crafted 3D game.

But then there's the sex-borg, the obviously male gaze pandering fetish vehicle that's just there to court court both controversy and the worst of those that share our hobby.

I mean I am definitely into thick women and I will shamelessly enjoy SFM porn of this at some point, but it's skeezy enough and done without any real charm to it in a way that means this will have to be on deep discount, months from now when the controversy has died down, before I'd even consider playing it.

She's basically what pre-reboot Lara Croft would be if Lara had all character and depth stripped out of her. Granted, not that pre-reboot Lara was a shining example of either, but still.

Looks hilarious. Just need a male version.

Maybe, in best Metroid tradition, the end will reveal that there's actually a manly, underpants wearing guy in the suit.

Maybe not.

played it for like 45 mins

Really good controls, a few puzzles made me scratch my head
smooth transitions,
too bad folks will just brush it off because of the TnA

pretty fun game, satisfying music and atmosphere
everyone has there own thresholds of what is acceptable or not
but
please don't try to act like you poop ice cream

Saw the Jim Sterling review a couple days ago and had a laugh. Has me curious how it controls as the gameplay doesn't look half bad.

So it's like Portal without portals (that I know of). And it has gratuitous fanservice for those who are interested in it.

Ehh, I'll pass.
