Can people please stop talking about Warren? Christ, I'm having flashbacks to the mid-00s when everyone would name drop Ron Paul in threads that had NOTHING to do with him.
People are still going to be "I think warren might get in this guys!" even after the convention.

She isn't running.

Right, Obama was far too naive in how Washington works to know what he was getting into. Although, I don't think anyone could have predicted how crazy the Republicans would become once he took office.

Seeing how they treated Clinton, and considering Obama is black, it isn't that much of a surprise.

Which one?

James Buchanan. He was a lifelong Bachelor, lived with a dude for over ten years and brought him to all social functions, and everyone in Washington whispered behind his back about what was blindingly obvious to all involved. They had insulting names for it about his homosexuality.

From Buchanan:

"I am now 'solitary and alone,' having no companion in the house with me. I have gone a wooing to several gentlemen, but have not succeeded with any one of them. I feel that it is not good for man to be alone, and should not be astonished to find myself married to some old maid who can nurse me when I am sick, provide good dinners for me when I am well, and not expect from me any very ardent or romantic affection."

Huh. Well today I learned something new.

Who's the most likely GOP candidate?

Their only viable one. Will be fun to see how the group shakes out in the short term though.

Erm, evidence?

He was raised by Atheists, his mother was a very strong atheists as well as his grandparents.

Also, he started going to church right before starting his political career.

There is no outright proof, but I find it more likely that he is one than not.

Also, didn't he start going to church right before starting his political career.

Just because someone is raised by atheists doesn't mean they can't be religious. I was raised Christian and became atheist

If I were a citizen I would actually do that. I live in Delaware, a safe blue zone.

Even if you live in a battleground state, you should be voting for your interests; not strategically. The reason the big two never change is because they don't feel like they have to earn the support of their base. Only by having their voting base jeopardized will they ever be motivated to modify their platforms and policies.

It's interesting than that he started going to church before starting his political career and stopped going after becoming president.

Huge mistake showing the 2 dudes holding hands and the lady with the Mohawk rubbing against another woman. Hillary had a very good chance of stealing away some conservative voters because she's a traditional older white lady but by showing those scenes early on your just going to anger and drive them away.

The clintons need to return to the White House and it needs to be a quick and clean victory. Don't give the republicans even the slightest chance of victory.

Erm, evidence?

If you are wanting a smoking gun it won't happen. But reading his own books, his own words of skepticism, and his own actions about why he joined the church for instance, suggest pretty heavily to me that he is likely deeply agnostic at the very least. That his affiliation with the church has more to do with politics and the community building aspect then a deep felt belief.

No voter is going to change their mind just based on that.

Yeah, that lead to George W Bush being elected over Al Gore and the Democrats instead learned they should go further to the right. No thanks.

Seriously, it is getting annoying. She clearly has no interest in being president and isn't running. I love her and understand wanting someone to Hillary's left, but putting so much effort into hyping someone clearly not running seems pretty counterproductive to that goal.

Sanders is actually running and has been saying the same things as Warren regarding income inequality/wealthy interests since long before she was even a public figure, and before Hillary was First Lady. Plus he's the longest serving independent in congressional history, which you would think should excite all of the "both parties are the same" liberals who hate Hillary and keep crying for Warren.

Hell, even O'Malley seems to be running on a Warren type platform to Hillary's left and has a pretty liberal record as governor. If the goal is to get someone to Hillary's left nominated, it seems like effort would be better spent trying to elect someone who's actually running.

First a black and then a woman President. Times be changing in MMMURICA
I voted for Obama both times and may very well vote for Hillary, but what they were born with didn't matter to me at all in my choice (though of course on an empathetic level, I feel good knowing that it made or potentially will make a lot of people more proud to be who they are, so that's nice).

The thing that would genuinely matter to me and make me feel as if my values are represented would be seeing an atheist president elected. Intellectually, that is much more significant to me than seeing a reflection of traits I was born with/as.

I've said it before, I'm willing to bet we see just about every ethnicity and gender represented before we see an atheist president. I think the only thing we would probably not see before an atheist president would be a transgender president.

I'll vote for her, but I wish I didn't have to. One day Warren will run, and it'll be great.

Id like to see her climb the ladder in the senate first.

Get that LBJ type experience so when you are in the big desk you know how to navigate the challenges of getting legislation passed.

I often wonder if we would ultimately be better off if Hillary had won and Obama had been the next man up this election. Coming in with 8 years experience in Congress and a more seasoned understanding of how to get things done.

I'll be dead before I ever see a gay, atheist President.

According to some Obama is an atheist, gay, Muslim, socialist, communist, anti-Christ President. Never mind that it's impossible to be a few of those things at the same time, they believe it so it must be true.

I wonder if he ever becomes popular down the line, he will admit to it. It certainly would go a way to combating the stigma of having atheists/agnostics in power. Probably not though.

I hear ya man...I dont mind a female president but Hillary just makes it harder for me to vote for...oh well...hopefully by 2020 Warren would run if Hillary takes the backseat.

What are you gonna do? Vote republican? Not vote?

That's why I'm hoping for another candidate, another unexpected underdog like Obama. Guess we'll see who runs during the primaries. I'll never vote for her in the primaries. In the general if it comes down to her or Bush, I'll have no choice but to vote for her.
