On a related note, I find it weird that Trunks didn't really change the timeline. I mean, you'd think he'd time travel to alter future.

The best fights is in Dragon Ball seriously.
Pretty much. It was about martial arts instead of who can act constipated the longest to do the biggest attack, then breathing heavily in front of a cloud of dust which fades away slowly to reveal the opponent is still alive.

Saiyan Saga still had some coolness in it though. The fight against Raditz in the beginning is actually visually dynamic.

The Ginyu squad fights were cool in that each of them had a unique ability that could alter a battle, so it wasn't about power levels (until Goku starting using hacks and ruined the entire saga).

I watched most or all of the original American DBZ. Not when it was on, but bits and pieces during the following years.

I'm a terrible DBZ fan. My ideal way to re-watch the show (if I actually wanted to re-watch it) would be to watch an abridged version that kept the Faulconer music as well as the original dub.

Even then, I don't even mind that a lot of DBZ is stretched out longer than it should be. The only time this was really a problem was with the Namek->Frieza saga, which was ridiculous. To me it wasn't that bad from the Trunks Saga to the Cell Games Saga. Then again, maybe I was just more patient in years past.

I wasn't big on the post-Cell Games sagas, so I'd probably elect to disregard them. I will admit I liked when Goku did a Super Kaioken though, since I'm pretty sure everyone thought the Kaioken was worthless after becoming a Super Saiyan.

They must have been doing something right if I sat through 3 episodes of fireball charging in the middle of a 70 episode long battle. Fuck the haters. In retrospect its all too easy to say "why the fuck did I watch that?", but don't act like you didn't love it at the time, before you knew how long it was going to be or where they were going to go with it.

Didn't Cell take a few episodes to fire the Kamehameha? I remember screaming "FIRE" as a kid cause he took so long.

And then my mom came to see if I was on fire or something since I screamed that out. Wasn't very smart of me but god damn that stuff took so long.

lol at equating anything in dragon ball to martial arts

vegeta on earth: 18,000
vegeta after getting beat up on earth: 24,000
vegeta after getting beat up by zarbon: 30,000
vegeta after getting beat up by recoome: 250,000 (what the fuck)
vegeta after getting a hole in his stomach: even stronger than piccolo who was over 1,000,000

To counter all the Buu saga hate, I gotta say the last DBZ movie was pretty good, the one with Tapion and the Dragon Punch. Visually beautiful, the fights were cool and the story mildly interesting, which is awesome considering some of the dreadful previous ones. Perhaps my favorite from the bunch, followed by the first with Broly.

Takes like three episodes for stuff to happen too :lol

Was an alright show back when I was younger. Now I probably wouldn't be able to sit through it.

Yeah at least argue something with some meat on it, like Daredevil vs Batman or Naraku vs Aizen.

yeah, the single best thing to come out of DBZ was The History of Trunks.

I loved the fuck outta that movie. It is amazing.

I talked about GT a few pages back already.

No one has really brought up GT yet. My thoughts on it is, that I liked the concept of mixing Dragon Ball and DBZ and blending them together more, but they fucked it up real bad. I didnt see much but I remember half the series being kid Goku, Trunks and Pan looking for Dragon balls, so it was like a remake of Dragonball. And then Baby the super mega robot came, Vegeta got possessed again. Super Saiyan 4 was cool but making Vegeta have to cheat to become one was lame. There was something with 7 evil dragons... and then the fusion thing got out of hand. There was SS4 Gogeta, the strongest character in the entire Dragonball universe ever, kinda over kill, hes pretty much God. But like, they used the fusion dance so it only lasted like a half hour, and instead of SS4 Gogeta killing the head evil dragon he just fucks around and taunts him and wastes his half hour being a troll. GT had cool ideas but it was a colossal clusterfuck afaik.

Yeah at least argue something with some meat on it, like Daredevil vs Batman or Naraku vs Aizen.

Daredevil vs Batman: Batman wins the actual fight but loses in the eyes of the public cause he hit a blind guy.

Naraku vs Aizen: Naruku revives over and over again. Of course, this is all a part of Aizen's plan, so Aizen wins by default.

Now go forth and spread this knowledge to the masses.

yeah Android 18 is hot. Though she never became human right? How was Krillin manage to get her pregnant?

On a related note, I'm more disturbed by the fact that despite looking like men, they sound like children. I know, VAs and all that, but still...

I mean, Shoutmon is manly and he's voiced by a woman too, but it sure as hell sounds like a man (and yes, that's Broly being that giant Digimon).

Please, Daredevil would tell Bats about his average Tuesday. Batman would be later found in a corner crying like a bitch.

PROOF GOKU IS STRONGER

At the end of Movie 11, King Kai tells Broly that is causing havoc in Hell, and Goku must stop him.

In Movie 12, Goku says Fat Jamenba is the only person besides Buu to force him to go SSj3. Implying that Fat Jamenba is a stronger opponent than Broly.

Goku > Fat Jamenba > Broly.

Half hooman half robot.

Are you talking about the Japanese dub again? Everyone on the Murrican dub sounded fine.

I remember now, that I did see an ep on TV with the original dub, at least I think it was, it sounded like Japanese.

Anyway, they all sounded like middle aged Asian women, it was fucking TERRIBLE!

I didnt get it at all.

Goku > Fat Jamenba > Broly.

Broly isn't canon, so He wouldn't get a mention.

That's because Goku and the other main Saiyans were all voiced by a 70 year old woman.

Their voices were definitely out of place in the Japanese version. People say the US dub is bad all the time, but I would definitely take that over 70 year old woman Goku.

Not that I have something against her, I think she is a great voice actress, it just doesn't fit the Saiyans. And yeah, the US dub makes it good, hell even the local dub here make sure he is voiced by a guy.

This thread reminds me: how did DBZ Kai turn out? If I ever were to watch the series again, I think it would have to be an abridged version...
