Truer words have been spoken like this before. Someone who actually understands how the current MP and F2P market works. Kudos.Multiplayer-only games usually tend to live or die on their initial impact and player base, because if they don't attract a sufficient and stable player base the chances of a return on long-term support are basically zero, and the publisher immediately pulls the plug to cut on their losses. And the more complicated, unusual and different from a baseline FPS they are, (sadly) the higher the risk to crash and burn with the general public.
I don't even know if in this day and age making a game like this as a paid release is sustainable at all, considering the gazillion f2p and heavily discounted older games available for the same target market. Because the serious risk of the game failing and dying or immediately going f2p 6 months after launch makes people more hesitant to spend money on it at launch, and it all becomes even more of a vicious cycle.
This looks like an interesting concept, but it all depends on how well it was implemented in practice, how much staying power it will have with players and how quickly you will run out of content. Many competent and highly advertised games (see Evolve) still effectively died in less than six months because the largest share of the player base got bored and dropped them.
Been multiple ones already. Not sure if they'll do another but me and 3 friends got in pretty easily. I was even able to get someone else access simply by asking through the official discord. This game looks pretty interesting, will there be any sort of Beta?

Not sure if I'll pick it up on day one. I like the game but it can be brutal if you're up against pre-mades so I'm just going to wait and see if any of my e-friends are grabbing this themselves.
I guess if you're talking percentagewise sure. That said I've played matches where the PVP is just basically non-stop and people don't even bother with the AI heh.Am I correct in assuming the first 2/3rds of every match is essentially PvE with the last 1/3 being PvP?
Not sure if you can answer.
I thought this would be like a multiplayer heist or assassination game. Is there anything like that? Like a multiplayer Hitman?
Are they going to force multiple similar to Evolve? I really hope not!I was the opposite. Looked like a shitty Assassin's Creed at first.
Once I learned it was 4v4 with NPCs multiplayer game, it got interesting.
Hood: Outlaws & Legends unveils Commented Gameplay video offering an in-depth look at the teamplay-oriented medieval heists!
Hood: Outlaws and Legends, the multiplayer PvPvE heist game from Sumo Digital and Focus Home Interactive today releases an in-depth Commented Gameplay video of its unique medieval heists. Matchmaking in opposing teams of four, choose your character based on your preferred playstyle, or what best fits your team’s strategy. Whether your gang prioritizes a stealthy long-range approach, brutal close combat or a combination of both, cooperation will be key for victory. Watch today’s Official Commented Gameplay video for a deeper look into how the different characters play out and combine during critical stages of a match.
Stealth in service of action
Stealth is your best way of gathering enough information about enemy positions, the vault location and map layout to plan and execute your heist. Beware! If any enemy spots you, your character becomes outlined in red, revealing your position to the opposing team and the rest of the guards. Charging in mindlessly can be fatal, unless creating a diversion was your plan all along. Use stealth to move around undetected, distract or assassinate guards, steal keys, retrieve treasures and, most importantly, choose when and where your team enters open combat.
Four Outlaws with unique complementary playstyles
In this Commented Gameplay video, discover how each character can be customized with specific perks to emphasize certain playstyles. For instance, you can equip the Ranger with special melee and burst damage perks to make your way to high ground and cover your team from afar. Although known for his support abilities, you can equip the Mystic with a fast movement perk, slipping past guards to steal keys and silently unlock doors for your team.

Damn that's bad.I was really interested in this until it turned out that crossplay is just for matchmaking and you cant actually play with friends on other platforms. Now I'm on the fence leaning towards a pass.
Hood: Outlaws & Legends reviewed by Travis Northup on Xbox Series X. Also available on Xbox One, PlayStation, and PC.
Hood gives you glimpses of a new and exciting multiplayer concept, but its many, many design flaws keep the game from delivering.
Despite many nods to Hood: Outlaws & Legends’ source material, the densely-packed progression mechanics and fun gameplay are the star of the show here. It stops short of being a total showstopper, but comes far closer than you might expect.
Like the matchmaking. I asked for a refund because I'm my first game I was level 1 going up against somebody who was like level 94.If been playing it quite a bit and it has potential but a lot of things need to be addressed and fast.
Matchmaking also takes way too dang long. At least people dont drop out every match like rogue company.Like the matchmaking. I asked for a refund because I'm my first game I was level 1 going up against somebody who was like level 94.
