For digital releases and trophies/achievements it is a must.
Agreed, god I hope I can put my Wii's Virtual Console games to WiiU..... Knowing Nintendo who knows though. I have spent about $300 on that thing.
There isn't an official channel (not like the channels on the Wii OS, but channel as in "a method or means to make this happen") to transfer VC purchases between two different Wii's without using an SD card, and you expect to be able to transfer them to WiiU?
Unlike PSN/XBL, Wii's digital distribution isn't tied to user accounts so the chances of that happening are extremely remote. The day I realized that was the day I stopped using Wii's DD.
I may not pick up a Wii U without backward compatibility
It's important to me because I don't buy all the consoles, and it's nice for when my old systems die even if I do. I was just lucky my ps2 still works this gen, so I didn't really mind the lack of BC on the ps3.
Wiiu is already confirmed as backwards compatible
As long as you're okay with no gamecube compatibility.
there wasn't an official way to transfer between 2 dsi but they still made a way to transfer to the 3ds, so of course there'll be a way to transfer Wii to Wiiu
How important is it for you that next gen systems are backwards compatible?
It's very important.
Wiiu is already confirmed as backwards compatible
If this was the case then PC gamers could easily just set up a multi boot to load up older versions of Windows. Luckly we don't need to.. but it is an option.what if everytime a new windows came out it blocked your old programs windows xp-->vista--7---8? you could no longer play halflife 2 because of it, and if they did make it available to the new windows, they would charge you for it .you guys saying you want new experiences what if your PC suddenly cut out old games
For those of you who don't mind if new consoles won't play your old consoles retail games, whatabout your digital purchases?
I always thought as digital purchases as just rentals anyway, tbh.
I want an optional BC add-on module that I can choose to buy or not. If it's a technical/hardware hurdle like PS2-PS3 was.
For my XBLA/PSN games: Very. Retail would be nice too.
