HP Discontinues webOS (Widespread $100 TouchPad sales)

Oh and my trip to Fry's was worth it.

A guy comes up to the customer service desk to pickup his 4 touchpads he bought online at full price. He was talking about getting a price match to HP's website, already had HP's website up on his phone showing the lower price. I'm sitting here thinking, that might not have been a bad idea. They go call about the pickup and I saw the CSR get a weird look on her face. The orders went through for store pickup and the guy even had a pickup confirmation printout. The guy who fills those orders must not have gotten the memo about sending them back as they were being denied by the manager. The dude flips the out. I mean, it was the scariest and funniest god damn thing I've seen in my entire life. I thought he was going to kill that poor girl. Luckily the other employees in the CSR area packed in real tight with one another, big dudes up front.

They ended up having to call the cops as he was so adament about giving him what he paid for. They had already printed out confirmation of the cancellation and the returning of his funds to his credit card. He wasn't having any of that. They ended up blocking off the one entrance to the store so other customers would be in the middle of anything. It was beautiful.

Called the Wal-Mart in my hometown, as their website said they had the 32GB model in stock. The person I spoke with said they would not sell them for the $149 the website had the product listed at.

That sucks.

I would've sent one of my parents down there to get one for me had they been selling them for the price listed on the website.

LOL, I literally have a headache (from all the phone calls, driving around and no sleep). I got my one so I guess I should be happy. There's no guarantee I could flip the rest for a profit (I only wanted two more) so I guess I'll just quit for now and play with it after I take a nap.

This was like Black Friday but with a blindfold.

I have a feeling we will get canceled on but i'm 10 % optimistic. I guess that's not really optimistic at all.
 
FUCK! I just called The Staples that wouldn't sell to me one hour ago, and in the last thirty minutes they dropped the price and sold all of them.

I would've waited. I had to wait 2 hours at walmart to get mine and they did the price drop at around 10:30am.

I should have, but the obnoxious employee told me it would be "hours" at least before they found out anything.
 
So I used some change and ran to a bus after not being able to find them ANYWHERE. What're the chances I'll be able to buy one on ebay later this week at a not-shitty price?

Think about all the college-age kids that work at Walmart, Bestbuy, Staples, etc. that stayed out late last night, got sloppy drunk with no sleep and come into work first thing this morning to get fucking railed by customers nonstop regarding this thing...

Thanks CoilShot, was able to get one once the price dropped at 10:30 at walmart. I guess for you west/mountain timezone people you should try walmart at the same time if they have in stock!

Why would it get canceled? They're willingly dropping the price on these. If you have an order in, I wouldn't worry about it.
 
Talked to my dad in Utah, he's on the case, calling every Walmart and Staples in town, trying to find a few for us.

Thinking of just going to Radio Shack and getting one for $400, then price matching in a few days.

Just a question but with it being discontinued, what exactly can be done with this given zero support? is there a huge community out there that supports it?

Some people on the slickdeals website have been getting denial/verification emails. (It could just be people who tried Bill Me Later or entered incorrect credit card information), but you never know with these things.

I'm pretty sure those were the people using the $30 off coupon that specifically said you can't use it on tablets.
