If the PS4 is $599, would you still consider getting it?

I am day one'ing this for the first time ever.

If it is at $599, it will all depend on the launch lineup. I am honestly very anxious to move to the PS4. One thing Sony ought to do is offer some sort of reward/ambassador program, like a year's free of PS+ or whatever they have as their premium, IMO.

Additionally, they need to work on winning over Xbox fans who stick to MS for XBL/achievements.

No way.

This is the part that most worries me. Those 8GB GDDR5 are awesome.. But that has a very considerable price.

No!

Definitely not. At that price, I'll just stick to my PC that can output higher resolutions and FPS. The only thing is the 1st party titles. But that's not enough for me to drop $600. I'll just wait for the eventual price drop. Then I'll have a lot of games to catch up on.

Yes.

Some people act as if you have to spend the total amount at one time & from one paycheck.

I'll be getting mine at launch for sure.

I'll probably break and end up buying mine for any price they state, but I don't think it would be smart for them not to have an SKU below $500.

I don't see how this comes in at less than $400. I'd say $450 retail is likely, maybe $500. I thought $400 was stretching it before they announced that their memory will likely be $100-$150 of the BoM alone.

As disappointed as I was by the two wasted hours of my life, I'm buying a PS4 at any price the day it launches.

In a heartbeat.

I bought a PS3 at 599. This looks better than that so far. I'd get one. I'd say like, "Depends on the games!" but I buy all the consoles on day 1 anyway so why lie to myself.

Sure. Considering the tech built in, it's not a bad deal... The same price as a crappy iPad.

I bought my PS3 for $599 on launch day and it's still going strong. I think it's safe to say I got my money's worth. I'd purchase the PS4 at the same price.

I'd buy it at $799.

I wouldnt buy one at that price.

Yeah, no problem. I still use my launch PS3 daily and I paid $599 for that. I drop the same amount of money on ipads and smart phones, I know I'l be getting my moneys worth from a PS4.

I will buy 2 at that price. Same with the xbox 720.

Price doesnt matter.

I spent I over $900 on a ps3, a game and a movie so... yeah.

I expect to pay around $500 for the theoretical deluxe model though, depending on what the different SKUs offer I'd likely be in on the version with a larger HDD if it had something I liked and not a pack-in of Move of some shit.

I think they are going to sell the model or a model for $400.

I think they will do multiple SKU's now that we know more about it. One for maybe $400 which will get you the system and the necessary accessories. And one for $500 that comes with the camera, sensor bar, trial for PS Plus, bigger hard drive, etc.

And I'd be OK with that, I'd probably just get the lower end of the two model if it happens unless they show me more that would convince me to get the higher of the hypothetical 2.

for most of the market it would be an issue I think, specially if they change $ to € for PAL it would be really big issue.

Personally, money isn't a problem for me, I'd be more interested to see the games at E3 and the hardware itself, for those spec I'd pay $600 if the games I'm interested are there, not seeing that though first year or sooner.

$399 or bust.

EDIT: Yeah, I'd probably would on second thought. The argument is more compelling when you consider the price of fucking iPads.

They sell iPads for $500 and up. I don't see why this isn't worth $600 considering they've shown me they have developer support this time around. I would definitely get one.

The sign will be if we get a price at E3. If not, then that more than likely means it's not an attractive price and they'd rather just face the backlash closer to launch.

Sure would. I can spend that much on a night out and I'm not earning all that much money. I'll just spend the weekend I get it at home and I have basically paid for it. Being in Australia that will be even more. Bought a PS3 Launch day for $1100 without thinking twice about it.

I'm not buying one at launch even if it's $200. And I have nothing against Sony either; I just don't trust buying consoles at launch anymore.

Give it two years, maybe 3, and then I'll buy one and have a ton of games to enjoy on it (hopefully) by then.

If I'm really fascinated by the console and games, I might buy it when it's around $250. That's in a direct conversion to a european currency though, so it will probably have to be even cheaper at that point.

Now if there's something groundbreaking that I'll need it for, money be damned, I can save up or something. Didn't see anything like that so far but who knows.

Pffft I paid $1000 AU for the PS3. I hope to not have to pay that much for PS4 but I will.

I got student loans :/

All you guys stating prices lower than $400. I hope you realize that your going to be waiting a long time. There is no chance it is launching at anything below 400 with the hardware we saw today.
Yes, that is our point.

The used games would be super cheap by then too.
