If you could revive one cancelled game, which one would you choose?

Xenosaga episode IV-IX(yes this was meant to be 9 games after they announced how far the first story arc had progressed after episode 2, it was meant to be split into 3 games but episode 2 barely even passed the 40% mark).

StarCraft Ghost - waited for this thing for 3 years along with all my friends and every time they announced new info the hype train began again.

Shenmue 3
Mega Man Legends 3
Castlevania Resurrection
Fear Effect: Inferno
Earthbound 64
RE1.5 and the earlier RE4 concepts

Agree with all these but I have to admit I still pine for:

Game was never going to work on the N64 hardware but damn if it didn't sound amazing.

I would have said the Grinder, (no am serious) but make it HD for the Wii U

that or damn too tired to think right now.

Super Brandish.

Considering how good Popful Mail Sega-CD and The Legend of Heroes I & II for the Megadrive turned out, it would have been nice to have a good port of Brandish 1 for home consoles at the time -- it could have resulted in another excellent Brandish game, and I'm always up if it's about Brandish.

Harker in a heart beat, I'd give anything to see this title revived.

Years ago I would've said StarCraft Ghost, not so sure now.
Can I say Metroid Dread? Does that even count?
If not MegaMan Legends 3 or Faith and a .45
Tiberium and B.C. also seemed pretty promising.
And Sadness. And Project Hammer. Man. So many dead games.

Star Fox Arcade.

i remember it was Assault since it was supposed to be a GC/Arcade game like F-Zero GX (meaning, it started as the same game on both platforms and then got specific features for the platform theyw ere on). i forgot the existence of the arcade version until it was pointed out years later.

That was a Sakamoto title. I like the guy but I wonder how others would feel with Other M's release.

Super, Fusion and Zero Mission were Sakamoto titles. Dread was rumored as early as 2005 for DS so it would have been much closer to the GBA games than what became of Other M.

Cancelled, yes...but it's not exactly unavailable. I could chuck my copy in my Dreamcast right now...I hope you knew this, and are upset because you never got to play it online, rather than the much worse possibility that you've been sitting there for thirteen years not knowing you can just download it off the internet! It's a fucking blast in 4 player split screen.

I know, but it was cancelled, never released to retail and never got a chance to sell.

No online and the dreamcast flopped = its forgotten about.

What was the title of this thread?

If you could revive one cancelled game, which one would you choose?

Oh yes now I remember why I posted propeller arena.

No one has mentioned Garou 2 yet?!!

Also there was that Lambo game on the Xbox / ps2 that was finished but never released - however you could play a demo of it, which I have somewhere.

I don't know if they were ever in production or even planned, but give me the rest of the Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre episodes. Final Fantasy Tactics was very much a spiritual successor to them, but I would still love to see what the rest of those episodes would have had in store.

Any game Xenogears related. I know some other parts of the story were meant to be presented in different mediums (books, movies etc.), but surely at least one other part, out of the six, would have been a game.

I remembered another one that i absolutely loved the look of back when previous gen was starting up...metronome. It theoretically could still be in the works, but the chances are small.

Fear Effect: Inferno. I still desperately want to play it, not to mention that it was pretty much close to completion anyway by the time it was shelved. I'm still hurting.

We're friends now

edit: A pirates of the Caribbean assasins creed type game was being made? And they chose to continue developing TRON of all things over it before shuttering the studio?

Some decisions really are baffling.

IIRC it had some Fable in its veins as well. Looked promising as all fuck.

Definitely Human Head's Prey 2. Fuck you, Bethesda and your shitty developer practices. I'm glad for the press sneak fucks.

I'd also say Eight Days and The Getaway (PS3), they both looked great. Although, I suspect Sony might just revive them one day.

LMNO

There is a very strange schism between consumer purchasing motivations and eventual actions. People feel short games are poor value, despite people not completing games of the standard length. LMNO's cancellation was fueled by many things, but primarily, the intent to create a short but highly replayable and fluid experience was considered to be difficult to market. I think not only would the game have potentially been enjoyable, I think if it had been successful, it would have set an important precedent that would have helped the industry obtain greater saturation.

God damn, I had forgotten about this. This one wins it for me.

Project Offset.

It was going to be Battlefield meets Middle Earth. Then Intel bought the developer....

Thrill Kill.

I own the finished (or nearly finished) game, but would love to see it revived and released on current hardware.
