[IGN First] Assassin's Creed Syndicate New Gameplay

As someone who loves the assassins creed series I can honestly say this looks pretty boring. Still haven't been able to finish unity. I'm actually trying to slog through it right now.

I really enjoy the AC games, and I'll definitely pick this one up.

The hand to hand combat isn't my style though... I'll probably play as the twin sister whenever it's possible.

I have so much franchise fatigue with this series it's hard to be excited. If they were to detach the AssCreed moniker from this game and focus on some of the same goddamn issues that have been there for so long in regards to mission design and controls I may have been more interested. As it is, I'm through with this series. I have a mild interest in it in a virtual tourist kind of way, but have no want or even motivation to play this as a game and will just wait for a deep sale.

At this point, I'll look to more from Monolith to give that "rogue" like game i'd like to play. I loved how SoM played and the nemesis system is such a great idea, if Ubisoft could take pretty much all the combat mechanics and stealth elements from that and put them in their admittedly usually stunning worlds they create, I'd love it.

I love AC and this is defiantly day one for me..... but come on Ubi please understand, the franchise needs a break.

How about making a new POP game for a change?

You do realize that buying it sends the opposite message, right? Money is the only communication method they understand.

I've played through the Syndicate demo, and at least gameplay wise was far more interesting than this video, since there were actually several ways to complete the mission, which was pretty cool (Either sneak in via allied guard or steal keys). Problem was that in the demo, the AI was completely braindead and you could literally run through 12 men and kill the target off before they killed you... I assume it was in super easy mode or something, but you definitely couldn't do that in Black Flag.

Are we sure this is not Unity DLC? Lol

Sorry mate, but they won't listen to you on gaf. They will listen your money!

Apart from looking really boring, the graphics look so bad compared to Unity. What the hell happened here? The setting had so much potential.

I will keep buying AC games because I love them and enjoy them..... But many other players don't share my passion about the franchise, not anymore.

That's why it needs a break.

I have no problem with annual AC games but for the sake of those who got bored with it and loosed interest.

I'm all open worlded out, between W3 ( which I adore) Bloodborne, MGSV ( which I like in spite of its bad open world) the GTAV port plus Mad Max and Fallout 4..... AC isn't even on my maybe list.

It is on mine which also include all the games you listed plus Just Cause 3 :)
Great time to be an Open World fan.

Everything about that looked dated, both graphically and gameplay-wise.

HOW HAVE THEY NOT FIXED THE COMBAT AFTER 9 GAMES!?

I think my biggest beef with the series is the combat, it's been utter shit for years. Ubi simply don't give a fuck because people buy them regardless.

So after doing some google trends...it appears this game might be the worst selling main game besides Rouge. Here's what I found:

Blue: the series overall
Red: AC2
Yellow: Brotherhood
Green: Revelations
Purple: AC3

It seems nearly all of Ubisoft's open world games share the same game design document.
They really need to change it up because I can tell exactly what I can expect from an open world Ubisoft title at this point.

I agree with this. I even thought Shadow of Mordor felt similar, although I found it superior to most AC games overall with the deeper and superior combat.

That said, I don't think they'll change it up. Not drastically anyway. I think they'll sooner stop the series completely before a major change.

We predicted annual would be too much and it was and yet here we are. Ubisoft being that thirsty drug dealer right now that thinks of the utmost maximum profit they could ever make off a non realistic idea and never have and won't but continue to chase the possibility.

Wow if they could release this every year it could make X money!

Ok too bad real life doesn't work like that

This is not your Madden and youll probably never have one, Ubi. Cut your losses now, cancel this shit, put the best ideas into the next game you were working on, then scrap that too and take it to another level and refresh Assassins Creed in 2018 with something crazy that we always wanted to see come from this franchise.

You're digging assassins creeds grave....but its not too late...

It's actually getting worse, I think the highpoint was AC2. That game just had the first game's simplicity with a few added options. Since then they have tried to add stupid gimmicks every year and have ended up making it worse. It was at it's worst in Unity, I felt like anytime I was discovered I was mobbed by guards and the only thing to do was throw a smoke bomb and assassinate them 1 by 1. All made worse by the terrible performance.

This used to be one of my all time favorite franchises, but Ubi REALLY needs to give this franchise a breather. There should be no new AC for like 3 years

Well... if this game has anything remotely interesting, they sure are doing their best hiding it. It doesn't demo well at all...

I'm pretty much done with Assassin's Creed at this point. The setting is the main thing that kept me playing but I just can't stomach it anymore.

Everything I've seen of Syndicate (including this) is really dull.

Looks a bit better than I expected, but still "meh".

I just can't help but be dissapointed about their vision of Victorian London. I would prefer something like this:

The Order and Bloodborne are among the best looking games around right now, they picked a bad year to release a bland looking Victorian-era game.

It doesn't look terrible it just looks dull, not sure I'm going to pick this one up. It's a real shame what happened to this series nothing has matched 2 & Brotherhood. I liked 4 because of the ship combat but the core Assassin's Creed gameplay that was in there was still as bad as all the others.

Well that was uninteresting. I do love the music though, for some reason.

You actually went and measured interest for an Assassin's Creed game that only exists if you misread or mistype its title.

The fun thing is, it's pretty high, so the error must be incredibly widespread.

How is it possible that Kojima's first try with open world games is light-years ahead of this?

Don't tell me it's a budget thing, AC is being developed by a much bigger team than Kojima's, they have a much bigger experience as they are doing this for years and their game still looks like shit compared to MGS5.
Clunky, not-polished, and this one is not even prettier by much and running at 30 fps and probably not even locked if we go by previous entries, it's really amazing, Ubi should buy Kojipro asap, maybe in 3 years we will get a decent AC.

I didn't think my hype for this series could get any lower, and then I watched this video. This isn't the series I signed up for. Pass.

We need Ubisoft to get the message. I'd love a revamped Assassin's Creed. Imagining climbing cities with better visuals and having improved social stealth aspects (I've shared ideas in the past) and an improved meta-story is making me outright hate what we're getting here.

They're simply releasing a stale formula, not a unique experience and that's disappointing to say the least.

because all you do in MGS5 is put balloons on birds...and bears....and people.....

i kid i kid

This series is very annualized. The development don't have the time to experiment and polish their game when Ubi management demands it be ready for an early November launch every year.

The development team is pretty much forced to copy and paste the game design from previous AC titles.

Honestly, seems like a major lack of vision with the devs. I don't mean any disrespect or ill-intent towards the AC crew, but they seem bored with the franchise themselves judging from the lackluster looking gameplay and promos. If you told me they would do an AC in Victorian London back when 2 came out I would've been really excited, now I feel nothing but boredom even thinking about it.

Because Kojima is a good game designer and game design hasn't been Assassin's creed's focus for a while.

Better yet they should give the series a rest. A good 3-4 year rest and let the fans actually want an Assassin's creed instead of simply throwing one into our faces. Though even if Ubisoft decided to give the series a break NOW, we'll still get 2-3 more Assassin's creeds which are probably already been in full production right now.

This game isn't even on my radar and I honestly keep forgetting that it is even coming out. Every time I see newly released footage it does nothing for me at all. The phrase "franchise fatigue" is quite apropos.

It took Kojipro 5 years to make an open world with jack-shit in it, boring traversal, and walled-off canyons everywhere

praise them

It's annualized but different teams are working on it, what is the development cycle for each game in this series, 2 years at least right? And with a giant team that based in different locations around the globe, seriously, they put a lot of effort and money into this production and look at the results (not talking financially, though I bet that this year there is going to be a major drop)

Yea it's really is the most "quiet" P.R we ever had for a new AC I think, you really feel a lack of enthusiasm by Ubi as well.

Yea they didn't fill the world with needless shit, I can't argue that the world is not full with details as a City in AC, but mechanically, gameplay, polish and "feel" it's the best there is and put AC to shame.
Even visually the latest AC isn't looking much better if at all.

I'm absolutely positive that the act of walking around and just exploring will be more satisfying in this AC than in MGSV, specifically when it comes to npcs and AI interaction.
Especially since this game will actually be finished content wise and won't make me replay story missions or side ops to progress the story.
I mean i'm already seeing much better facial animation than in MGSV.

I just watched the video and stuff I noticed
-this is directly in the beginning of the game, maybe even the first black box mission since there's still a tutorial for parkour,
also have a good source that told me that this is the starting outfit
,
-performance looks fine but it's an enclosed area with barely any npcs
-video compression up the ass but I can tell that it's visually not as good as Unity,
-general improvements to animation and cloth physics, naturally since the game comes out in a month

Terrible idea to have a video of mission played without actually using stealth, ofc you can play how you want and Jacob=brawler but still, I wanna know how I can take the target out without getting caught. Also does anyone have an HD link?
