Hmm, I do primarily play Cook Serve Delicious on my android tablet computer, it works super well in that format, although that patch may be the thing that makes me double dip for the steam version too.

I'm trying to not play too many games - my graphics card has been over heating a lot :(

I did manage to play some Secrets of Grindea though. I really like that a lot.

Messofanego's been holding out on us. He mentioned this game in passing over in the GamerGate thread

The Void is $1.99 on BundleStars
http://www.bundlestars.com/store/the-void-game/

This game is unfuckingbelievable.

The closest thing to it, I think, would be one of those preadolescent dreams you get some nights, the likes that leave you sweaty and huge heart rate in the morning.

Really, this thing doesn't come close to anything I've ever played with the exceptions of ICO (recent) or more accurately Heart of Darkness or Another World.

One of the best games I've played this year. :)

EVERYONE needs to get this. It's secretly the best game of the year

http://store.steampowered.com/app/37000

the steam link

Yeah, this is the best game I've ever played.

This game is honestly leaving me sweating. And I've only seen one enemy so far!

Jesus Christ this is strange.

One of, if not the best game I've every played. It subverted my idea of what games were capable of, and I love it for that.

I think I need to get this game

:D

I feel like any time Secrets of Grindea is mentioned I need to quote it. The studio only consists of 3 people, but when you play the game you can tell that they are putting so much love into it, it really shines through.

So yeah, GAF, play the demo, fall in love with the game and then support the devs.

I'm waiting now until the full release - playing RPGs through development is kind of weird, I had the same problem with Divinity - I sunk 5-6 hours into the game before it even released.

I played the demo awhile ago and am definitely going to pick it up once it is on Steam proper. So hard to find two more people for a 4-pack right now compared to when it is actually giftable on the store.

Gotta admit, really wasn't impressed with Grindea. The combat just felt really slow and clunky and they would be hard pressed to make a more dull art style for a top down RPG. That said, I gotta give the dev team credit for making what seems like a fair competent game given that RPGs as a genre are generally much more difficult to make with a small team, but the quality of the demo at least never raised much beyond average.

Ice Pick are fantastic - The Void is probably their best game.

That's very good answer, however the correct one was 'Pathologic.'

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
Voting October!

RULES THIS MONTH IN SHORT: Up to 10 games, at least 4.

Why?
Because we want to offer people who first step into the thread an easy go-to list for great games. Plus it gives more attention to the titles that really deserve it.

How?
Everyone votes on his top 10 games out of the ones that already have been released AND are mentioned in the OP (So everything in Post 2). I'll tally the results and put the best 5 in the next thread. A minimum voting count of 4 is required. Feel free to vote for games that you deem "important" or the ones that you enjoyed the most. Since this is a rather communicative thread, feel free to include a short description why these games ended up on your list or a "honorable" mention if you feel that one game deserves another mention even though it wont count for your list. That way it would also make it interesting to read which games we should check out that others might have enjoyed. You dont need to "rank" the 10 games. Every list entry gets 1 point for the overall ranking.

When?
This thread is still open until the end of the month, so you can drop your list in here whenever you want. You can also change your list up to the last day. I wont start the count before the last day of the month, so everyone has still time to revise their lists and play some games. Speaking of which, if you dont even KNOW 7 games to vote for, there are plenty free games in the OP to check out. Most of which are rather short too. Use the remaining week to catch up with 1 or 2 titles you didnt get around to yet!

OP Impressions

Absolute Drift

I'm super bad at this game. Oversteering, understeering, crashing - you name it, I'm doing it. I recognise how well it's made; I like the aesthetic, the physics are really well done and its fun to play. I just suck.

Antbassador

Kind of scratches that Surgeon Simulator itch - without the hair pulling frustration. It's short, has some nice charm to it and squashing ant princesses by mistake (or not) is always fun.

Bonfire

Not such a fan of this - it calls itself "strategy" but it feels as though it's just attritional. There's basically no animation at all as well which is a shame, because it looks kind of nice. I'll echo Toma's thoughts here - seems like it would be a better fit for mobile.

Greebroll

Weird. It doesn't look very nice and the UI is all sorts of horrible. I think if the game was cleaner to look at it might go some way to changing my mind on it. As it is its a simple game about maintaining your balance on rotating and shifting objects. Baddy was much more positive on it than I was though.

Secrets of Grindea

Surprise of the month so far. Beautifully animated, charming visuals and a light hearted story that's clearly drawing inspirations from the Chrono Triggers and Secret of Manas of the world. It's a joy to play and I think the animation is the main draw. It's fluid, fun and I'm definitely buying it when it comes out proper.

Voting so far:

Secrets of Grindea
Absolute Drift

How could I forget?! Pathologic is ace - but super hard to play now. I'm excited for the remake though. Fun fact - my first game of theirs was Cargo! The Quest for Gravity. So much fun.

I haven't seen this one mentioned yet, which is surprising considering the SpaceChem vibes it's giving off:

Big Pharma - PC
l8OYMQP.jpg

http://www.bigpharmagame.com/

What if you had it in your power to rid the world of disease, to improve the lives of millions, to ease suffering and cure the sick… and earn a tidy profit?
As the head of your own Pharmaceutical Conglomerate you have this power resting in your hands. Will you use it for good? Being totally altruistic may not be the best business plan. The uncomfortable truth (is there an ointment for that?) is that some remedies are more profitable than others and illness is good for business.
Welcome to Big Pharma, where you can make a fortune and still maintain a healthy conscience. Or can you?

There's a gameplay video up on his blog. Looks cool!

Murder - ????
murderhead.jpg

http://www.petermoorhead.com/murder/

A cyberpunk point n click
From the designer and artists behind "Stranded" comes a short story about the intersection of morality and sentience, in a future where both have become commodities.
Follow the actions of Lietenant Motomeru Minori of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, on what quickly turns out to be a very unusual, very dangerous case.
Heavily inspired by the works of Masamune Shirow, Katsuhiro Otomo, Neal Stephenson, and other cyberpunk greats, Murder aims to be a fresh, but familiar take on the setting.

Murder looks really promising. Looking forward to it.

Just found this title, it's gonna be published somewhere in 2016, but boy, the art design is so classy.

Actually, that's "The Last Night", originally a short jam game, now being expanded into a full length release.

That screenshot...the art style already looks much more detailed than the jam version, can't wait. The more cyberpunk/sci fi noir games, the better

Spacebase came out of early access, owners get HnS for free

Thats a good enough compensation for me :p
Doesnt fix the unfinished Spacebase, but at least I got some value in return.

Thanks for putting Rakuen back on my radar. I found it when wondering what Shigihara was up to these days, but I hadn't thought about it recently.
