dark10x, even with the patch, it's still bad? Is there a difference between the card versus DD in load times?
Yeah, it is not great. Not game ruining by any means, but longer than I'd like. At least loading only occurs when starting a race. The menus are super fast and responsive and there is no loading when the game moves from end of race to menu.

And restarting a race (which I do a lot) is quite a bit faster than the initial load.

I think both handhelds are good. 3DS is really more of a social multiplayer ready handheld, and PS VITA for the people who prefer a console quality title on the go. I know blahblahblah MGS3D Resident Evil blahblahblah are good too. It's just up to the person's taste. I would get a Vita, but for that price of a unit, a memory stick and a game is equal to about 4-5 3DS or DS games. Economy, people. Economy.

ROFL.

just because 3DS has Mario Kart does not mean its a SOCIAL MULTIPLAYER focused.

and btw the 3DS launched @ 249.99 - Thats Nintendo for you. Good thing they caught up to their arrogance quickly.

Usually the consensus I get from people is that Nintendo handhelds get all of the Nintendo software plus a few niche games here and there, and most people get Sony handhelds for console quality RPGs and games. People say Nintendo's handhelds are too kiddy, blahblahetc and Sony is a "grown mans" company. I don't understand it either.

I will say that every time I have ever seen a DS or 3DS in public it has been in the hands of a kid younger than 12.

Every time I have seen a PSP it has been high school/college age kids.

Are you at all aware of Vita's social features? It's not hyperbole to say they are unmatched by any gaming device.

The "fair price" for hardware is what people are willing to pay for it. Nothing less, nothing more.

Bingo, the Vita is sure not a "fair price" for me until it gets a price drop. I still don't think the 3DS is a "fair price" until it gets a revision and better battery life similar to my DS lite.

It may be a fair price for some, but I do not personally see value in both hardware as they are currently priced.

The mass market isn't going to pay $249 for handhelds anymore. Sorry folks.

They will, but the software needs to match the fucking hardware

Have you seen how retarded the PSN Store updates are, hell I got banned due to me RAGING in one

How prices are all over the place

You need firm prices, it's like the fucking wild west out there with the VITA, anyone can charge whatever they fucking feel like
Most of the shit is re-hash or adjacent games to counterpart to the PS3 brethren

As I stated before in my a few post up Tier based pricing is needed

If Sony did PSN+ Vita goodies, PSN+ members will increase along with new VITA purchases made due to it, or vice versa

Yes I'm aware. Skype, FB, etc

But people are willingly more ready to play stuff like Mario kart and Smash Bros mainly because they're more familiar with it and it's easy for anyone to get into.

Right, with the smartphones on the rise, it will only get harder for Sony and Nintendo to stay competitive throughout.

I got to try Doom 1 on iPhone 4S today and it played surprisingly well. Not to mention tons and tons of games and apps are already available for iOS and Android advices.

I'm still getting 3DS lite XL though, whenever Nintendo decides to make one.

I think a big problem actually stems from your issues.

It is that the PS Vita as it doesn't have a strong focus. Right now it is a hardware that can do everything, but is a master of none.

Sony needs to do some heavy differentiation to separate it from the Nintendo 3DS and the Apple ipad, itouch, iphone, etc.

Most of them honestly do look way better on it. I was really surprised at how great they look on it

My issue is that I have to repurchase all my PSP games to enjoy it.

Sure I will likely rebuy my absolute favorites like Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Dissidia, but the others will likely never be rebought for the PS Vita.

I should have know that I was entering heavy fanboy territory..

However I guess you guys are probably right and I should´t have sold my VITA this early.

But I did.

Maybe it´s Uncharteds fault, the only game i bought for it.

Or maybe it´s the fact that I can get the handheld experience I´m looking for elsewhere.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss is a great game, but I think dark10x summed it up very well:

If you were looking for quick pick-up and play games you should have avoided Uncharted.

Yep. There are several other great games that I think would've been more suitable for the type of "quick fix" play that GlamFM was looking for. Several posters did a great job of mentioning some good examples.

If you can get the handheld experience that you're looking for elsewhere, then that's great for you. On that note, I guess you're not missing out on much by not having the Vita anymore.

At the same time, though, there's no need to deny that the Vita can (and does) supply those types of games for those who want them.

I think Sony is just waiting for the price of components to go down. These are off the shelf parts. Within a year they will fall dramatically and the savings will be passed on to consumers.

If you try selling your Vita in Japan, you will get for a 3G model ¥14.000 at best and keep in mind it retails at almost ¥30.000. A 3DS gets you around ¥11.000 (retail at ¥15.000).

I really wanna buy a WiFi Vita, but the single account system is actually the main reason I still didn't. The price tag is still ok to me.

Ps3 was "worth" more than that while the 3DS wasnt when you consider its components.

A product is worth what the consumer is willing to pay for it. Component costs mean jack shit to the customer. The market determines value. Right now the PSVita is not an attractive value proposition, just like the PSP Go and the 3DS weren't (at launch).

True. The market says that the iPhone and iPad are the preferred platform for gaming, even if they're much more expensive than $250.

Marketing and word of mouth makes it value for money.

In any case for me a lot of the iPad/iPhone gaming success is because of the prices. $1-$2...compared with $30-$40...

At $1 per game its the equivalent of putting a quarter in an arcade machine like we use to do decades ago...

It's a price we don't even think about...with handheld games we check reviews, go on YouTube to check gameplay, use GAF for opinions etc etc...

Handhelds need that same level of quarter-esque gaming to compete.

Yeah the pros' of tablet gaming are just ridiculous. I haven't touched my 3DS in ages because of my ipad. Hero academy is the portable game ofthe year.

Yet i'm still playing my 3DS a lot despite getting my first ipad just a couple of weeks ago. I still see it as relevant.

I am a consumer. Component costs do mean a lot to me.

I don't like getting ripped off, being charged three times what I know something is worth. I don't like being sold on a device launched in 2011 that uses gpu, cpu and screen technology that is two generations outdated. Plenty of consumers don't like getting ripped off.

Just because you don't mind getting overcharged for something well beyond what it actually costs doesn't mean you get to speak for all consumers and claim they feel the same way. Not all consumers are the same.

If the pc gnu market proves anything, its that millions of people do care about getting bleeding edge technology, even if it means paying a premium for it.

Not really. You will never sell as much 60' 3D UltraHD TV than 32' HDReady TV. Even selling the 60' below cost, because more people are willing to pay for a 200$ TV than a 2.000 TV.

This doesn't mean that the fair price of a 60' 3D UltraHD TV is 200$. The same can be applied to any kind of product, cars (you won't ever sell as much high class deportives than small cars), etc.

Some consumers don't mind being treated as chumps, being asked to pay three times what something is worth. But some consumers do mind.

Some consumers don't mind being sold newly launched devices that were made using ancient gpus and cpus that came out in 2006 and are two generations old. But some consumers do mind.

So stop pigeon holing all consumers into generalities.

I dunno. I thought $10 was fair for SSHD Delta. They are not all $40 games. I quite like that there's a range myself. Most $1 iOS games are terribad. (or super simple, ala Canabalt).

DS really seemed to cross all demographic lines. I live in NYC and you see pretty much all age groups, genders, races, with it. You're starting to 3DS in the wild too, but it's still a rarity among the sea of Kindles and iDevices.

PSP doesn't seem near as diverse. I've never seen a woman with one in public for example, it's almost universally young men and teenagers. I've never seen a Vita in public period either.

The sales of the Wii alone proves this theory is wrong. People will pay only what they feel a product is worth.

a theory can only be proven wrong with quantifiable data.

where are your stats for "people who dont mind about technological stats" vs. "people who do"?
