No, Xbox One X is perfect machine for the hardcore gamer.
Yes, but that's across PC/XBOX-ONE/360, not just XBOX-ONE.....Tbf, when I bought TF1 on PC it was about $10.00 and that was a long time ago. Still, with those sales and all that hype, that game fell flat very fast, numbers online dwindled very fast. There was no zeal to keep on playing.
Do you ever listen to yourself, and did you really just say this gen is over? lol. When the playstation came out, it was only really competing against Nintendo, and Sony had the upper hand because they went with discs instead of cartridges. That's a completely difference scenario when xbox finally broke into the console business, against to established consoles, especially considering the rest of the world's hatred of western gaming. This thread is full of people conflating game sales to game quality, and it's pretty absurd. The xbox one flopped because it came out of the gates at a higher price, a weaker system, and with some horrible pr crap that MS was never going to recover from. That in no way is a reflection of the quality of games that have been released. There are multiple ignorant posts about how there has been no new IP's on the One. And yet Ryse was a launch game. Titanfall came out within a year of launch. You have Sunset Overdrive, which is a phenomenal game by the way, and also is when I decided to purchase an Xbox One. Microsoft has tried to do different things, Project Spark for example, and it didn't work out. Then you have Recore, which is a decent game. Ori and the Blind Forest is a fantastic game, along with Cuphead. Sea of Thieves is also an attempt at trying something new. And yes, there are sequels to already existing franchises such as Halo 5, Forizon 7, Gears of War 4, and Quantum Break. This is true on any console... Where would Nintendo be if it stopped releasing Mario and Zelda games, and Metroid? When people get annoyed at MS releasing the same franchises, those people are intentionally closing their eyes to the endless sequels that Sony and Nintendo spit out. And please stop trying to justify sony's lack of BC on the ps4. If the ps4 had it you would be praising Sony from the roof tops.
I wasn't into Xbox One, didn't even buy one, until, Xbox One X. Now it's my favorite console of all time. I am a sucker for both backwards compatibility and enhanced games so it's really the perfect console for me.
I'm not at all interested in spending half a grand on the XOX, but the enhanced games thing sounds really awesome. Especially since I have a bunch of my original Xbox games lying around.
Yes, because all risky games need to sell millions???? Risky games are about variety and gives all types of gamers a chance to love something on the platform. What risks have Sony taken that have paid off? I'm looking at all the first party Sony exclusives on PS4 that did over 1m and maybe one or two games are risky, the rest are either sequels or derivative of other works.
Perhaps I'm missing something...
Could you imagine if the best games PS4 had was Recore, Quantum Break, Ryse, SOT and Super Lucky Tales? XBOX fans would laugh the snot out of those, if they had the best rated games this gen, like GOW, UC4, Bloodborne, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona etc, then you know what the conversation would be......From the time you see people putting (I mean superlucky tales) as one of their best games then you know it's a desperate plight. SLT is not even half as good as Yooka laylee or A hat in time and these games are not even 90+ rated platformers even, just about 75+, which just goes to show. Now that the recent SOT was slaughtered by critics, we will see hopes shift to Crackdown 3, a series that did not even sell well on the 360, where the last game in the series was not anything special. Crackdown is going to be slaughtered by reviewers after it's hibernation in development hell, it's never a good sign. What about games? Something like Sea Of Thieves with missing content and enemies not even fully rendered is not beating something like Horizion Zero Dawn with like 8 million sales, new IP and dozen of GOTY awards or God Of War.
Super Lucky Tale is not a real reason for someone to buy a XONE and doesn't compare to Death Stranding or God Of War or The Last Of Us 2.
So...lets just ignore MS is making less content then really any time in their history because 360 games and renting digital games? Its like saying might as well keep 360 and just use RedBox, would someone really say that is the best gen to them? Last gen games and a rental service?
Yes, it's a point some of you keep on saying is not important, but do you realize that you can actually play Ryse at 4k at 60fps on PC? Ok forget about 4k, do you know you can play ryse at 900p like the XBOX-ONE-S on PC and even 60fps if you wish? So yes, you don't need an XBOX to play these games, which detracts from buying an XBOX to play said titles, because you could actually play all those console exclusives better elsewhere.Doubt you even played it or ever turned on an Xbox One. You sound like a sad fanboy that just wants to flame and derail this thread.
On topic though, I really enjoyed Ryse, even completed it in the hardest difficulty. Yes it was repetitive at times, but overall I liked it.
Neat, but that doesnt suddenly make the first four years of mediocrity suddenly not exist. No, Xbox One X is perfect machine for the hardcore gamer.
I'm quoting this in particular because I remember that day in infamy. I took the day off from work hoping it would be like E3 came early but I was wrong.Everything from the Xbox One announcement to the release of the Xbox One
There is no denying there has been a massive shortage of games this gen and 10 years ago i would have lost my patience. But I'm in my 30's now and a father of 3 so the following has been my Xbox One roadmap -
TitanFall
Sunset Overdrive
Forza Horizon 2
Halo 5
Killer Instinct
Ori
Rocket League
Forza Horizon 3
Firewatch
DOOM
TitanFall 2
CoD
PES2018
PUBG
With a few games in between so ive been plenty busy but compared to the 360 its pretty crazy we're towards the end of the Gen and we've had -
1 Halo game
1 Gears
1 Mass Effect
Still no Crackdown
No Bioshock
No 'Platinum' games
Very little from Capcom
It feels like this Gen is still getting started when in fact we're closer to the end than the beginning
I kinda agree. At very least they need new franchises alongside the older ones. Gears has been around about the same length of time as Uncharted but that still gets hype/praise. I think it's because Sony has other new stuff and that takes some of the pressure off their older stuff.I think both Halo and Gears are dead franchises (to me). They are creatively bankrupted. MS needs a new flagship franchise, and they haven't produced a single new franchise this gen worth pissing on.
I'm sorry but there is something to be said about being able to enjoy your old library with new up to date features! That's good thing and not a waste of time! I hope the ps5 will allow me to enjoy the recent GOW without me having to shell out money for a remaster!
That is a cinematic story driven game, didn't you hear that Xbox players only enjoy story-less shooters?
can you play RDR in 4K?Yes. I've had zero reason to buy one because I have a gaming PC.
They are not doing super well, but it's not a trainwreck.
From the things they did this gen:
Gamepass - excellent
One x - excellent
Some notable exclusive releases:
Sunset
Gears 4
Halo collection
Cuphead
Ori
Halo 5
Quantum break
Killer instinct
They are doing okay. Tied with PS in USA, which I feel is one of their primary target markets. They are lacking more good exclusives but given most good games are multiplatform, you get a lot of value in the Xbox ecosystem and better hardware. Very impressed at the x getting to native 4k for a fraction of high end GPU cost.
I think good things are on the horizon, but they need to step things up to better compete with PS (those GoW scores, damn).
What was the last high praise game from xbox that's a actual exclusive their your answer.
where exactly was titanfall praise ? also what part of exclusives don't people understand ?I wouldn't add Quantum Break on the list of successes for the Xbox One. Still waiting for Alan Wake 2 with less steven king and more twin peaks.
Cuphead. And before that Titanfall (1).
