It's been 5 years since the last console ZELDA was revealed. Is it time for another?

But where will it end? Once it is announced people will keep on making threads and threads about how awesome it's going to be. Then when it does come out people will create complaint threads. After about a million LTTP threads, we'll be back where we are. :p

This is so true :lol

Talking to him on AIM now. He says it's definitely a Wii title, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a game by Nintendo. Still swears to my excitement about it, though.
It isn't surprising that Nintendo have a big announcement or two to make at E3. After the '08 drought, it's pretty much a given.

But yeah, I'm not really expecting console Zelda this year. I'm playing through TP for the first time right now though and it's freaking awesome. I just
stormed the prison in the Gerudo desert on the back of a stolen boar and carved $#!t up with the Master Sword - oh hellz yeah!

okay, more open to the public than it is now.

This was at a press conference. It was press-only for sure.

That said, I was there... it was ELECTRIC in that room when that trailer was showing. But most games "journalists" are really just fanboys so there you go ;) It happens at all the other conferences, too. Why else would there be cheering when Master Chief or Snake shows up?

Is his name "Jeff"? If so don't get excited...it'll turn out to be Modern Warfare 2.

I just realised that thanks to this thread, a new entry to Wii list wars will be added:

Exciting Wii Game, Possibly Zelda

It's almost as bad as the "Secret PS3 Game" business from a while back.

Alright I asked him if it was Zelda, and he laughed and said no. He said it did have swords in it...and I immeidately thought it was Red Steel 2, so I asked. After a few minutes he replied, "whats Red Steel?"

If he's sworn to secrecy, then he wouldn't tell me if I was right anyway, but it isn't Zelda though, he made that pretty clear. I personally think it's Red Steel 2. Bah! :\

To clarify, he had a hand in the marketing materials for Rayman Raving Rabbids 1&2 and Assasin's Creed, so they do have former ties with Ubi. It's probably Red Steel 2...

Realistically, I think they'll focus on getting Spirit Tracks out the door before they even begin whispering about the next console Zelda.

Couldn't it be that "secret" game that IGN leaked a blurry pic of? Didn't that appear to have swords?

Lame.

Maybe in the next Mario game you can wield a sword? It worked pretty well for Sonic.

That was the most embarrassingly immature display of bullshit from a crowd of supposed professionals I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing.
oh? at least they aren't braindead...

Not only do you feel the need to bring this crap up in every E3 thread, now you've made one for yourself.

No. The more time that Zelda isn't shown, the better the game will be. The less time we have to obsess and over-analyze screenshots and build up what we think the game should be in our minds, the better.

We're getting Spirite tracks this year, I say if there's another two Zelda announcement-less years, I'd be fine. And this coming from someone who loves the heck out of the series and hype.

This makes no sense.
I think they are assuming the longer we don't see it the longer it is in development, which may be (but probably isn't) the case.
EDIT: Nevermind, they meant something else I think. Mostly regarding hype.

Agreed. The less you guys obsess about the next console Zelda prior to playing it, the better. You always get your hopes and expectations up so dazzlingly high, no game could ever reach those heights.

TP is awesome so far and I'm liking it much better than I liked OoT at the same point. Same deal with WW.

Yes, it is time for a new console Zelda. I'd be content with a reveal, even if (in all likelyhood) it wouldn't be out for some time.

Twilight Princess, in my opinion, is still the best game on Wii, which is kind of sad because it was a launch game, and essentially a Gamecube port. A new Zelda fully utilizing the Wii control scheme with motion plus has a lot of potential.

If they could also reveal that Spirit Tracks was all a joke, I'd be even happer.

GAF is quickly killing my love of this franchise.

The reveal was awesome...too bad the game itself turned out to be complete opposite. Maybe at next GDC they'll show the new Zelda.
Zelda TP was a great game. It was just plagued by the fans. You know, those who kept screaming for OOT2, but when it was given to them, still found reason to complain.

Twilight Princess was the result of Zelda fan-feedback, whereas Majora's Mask and Wind Waker were not. It's been said before, but I think Nintendo should just make whatever the hell they want and forget about the fans.

Just think, if fans had it their way, Mario Galaxy would've been just a complete rehash of Mario 64. And, fans would, again, find reason to complain even though the game is still good. I think Mario Galaxy gave Mario fans much less to complain about than a straight-up SM64 2 would've.

It's not killing my love for it, but camineet is certainly annoying me profusely.

I think its happening this year and i cant wait for it, just one more week!

Oh wow. :lol Some people are truly hopeless. Can't wait until the meltdowns when E3 doesn't deliver you people orgasms on a silver platter.

They can show a trailer for it and I'd be content. Just because there's a Zelda coming out this year doesn't mean they have to go completely dark on a console version.

Seriously guys. We all (well most of us) want this reveal, but don't get crazy. All of us got burned last year. Keep your expectations at the barest minimum...

Spirit Tracks is going to be seven different kinds of awesome. It'll basically be Phantom Hourglass without needing to do the Temple of the Ocean King a bunch of times. How awesome will that be?

Plus, steampunk Zelda, bitches.

The big question is - if there's a new console Zelda, where will it fit into the timeline? Will it be a follow-up to TP in the Child Timeline where, say, Zant rises again? Will it be a follow-up to WW in the Adult Timeline and the foundation of a new land or the resurrected Hyrule? Will it somehow involve time/world/dimension/timeline travelling and somehow bring both the Child and Adult Timelines together again?

These are the big questions I think we all need answers to.

It wasn't?

You're blind or willfully ignorant if you don't think SMG tried to emulate Mario 64. Hell, Nintendo themselves branded the game as the true sequel to Mario 64.

Also, when Nintendo does what they want, you get stuff like Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

alistairw said:
Oh fuck yes. Let's bring up the timeline again. That always goes well.
Hey, it's not like we have anything more worthwhile to discuss :P

I think the timeline will either be unified or the game will take place in the Child Timeline. Wind Waker's ending seemed to be Nintendo's way of killing that particular timeline.

well it was one of my predictions in the e3 prediction thread.....

I think it's about time. There has to be at least something to show the fans. There is now way they have nothing at all

Hopefully before TP. I still think they lost a lot of opportunities by choosing to ditch all those awesome races, the world frankly felt empty. They could've done so much with them. Kinda like how we had to sumo-wrestle with the Gorons, we could've learned and trained under the Sheikah and Gerudos. stuff like that.

I think we deserve to see the Old Hyrule at it's peak atleast for one more time.

whats the point, if they make it like OoT you guys will complain that its more of the same, if its different you guys will complain. No matter what Nintendo dose with zelda you guys will never be happy
