You realize it says just "Xbox" as well right?...No, no... OMFG... See they think the Wii is still the main thing for Nintendo. They don't even know Wii U exists. Holly shit!
You're reading WAYYYY too much into the chart...

At least they didn't call all of the systems Nintendos. No, no... OMFG... See they think the Wii is still the main thing for Nintendo. They don't even know Wii U exists. Holly shit!
Physically walking up to a console to turn it on? What is this, the 90's? =p
Interesting that he takes the DS4 from the PS4. So hopefully you can freely move the controller back and forth between PS4 and vita TV (one DS4 will cost almost as much as a vita TV - they're £55 in the Uk)

Supposedly you can change the colour of the LED, IIRC. DemonNite mentioned it somewhere, or at least hinted at it.
It's almost time.
Something's exploding on the left. What could it be?

Preorder numbers in Europe
Sony have so nailed every single aspect of the PS4. MS stupidity even allowed them to get away relativity easily with introducing paid online play.
Anyone looking to launch a new console in the future is going to study what they have done with the PS4.
What exactly could M$ have said to challenge PS+?

Well, there is the possibility that PS4 cpu is alreday 1,8-2GHz and they don´t want to spill the bean until X1 is in the market so they can´t react.
Has anywhere got videos of finished working ps4's yet. Like actually turning on? Not just a light?
Clock speeds can be altered at any point..they would just need to slide it into a firmware update...assuming it wasn't done already before manufacture...We've already seen both PS4 and Xbox One units packed and ready to be shipped, they are in mass production now. Whatever specs both consoles have, they are set in stone and can't be changed anymore.

I gotta be honest, I'm a little disappointed that we're all quoting that watermarked, low-framerate GIF, rather than this one:
...which I made just after the Vita TV announcement. Yes, I am super salty right now.
How long does it usually take for someone to get their hands on a new console and rip it down to it's processors ?
With Jack Tretton claiming "fantastic yields", overclocking the PS4 APU is certanly a posibility; and a very likely one IMO. The real question is: by how much?
At least enough to stay 50% ahead of the compentition IMO
They did it with the PSP...MS is using a very similar architecture and has done it for both the CPU and GPU...we know that the GPU in retail form can be had at 1000mhz...Only if every single chip you put into a console was validated for that speed. There's little sense in validating all your chips for 2Ghz but only shipping them at 1.75Ghz. You either raise the target clock, or save a lot of money by not throwing away all those chip that work at 1.75Ghz, but not 2Ghz. In either case you have to make the decision before you begin producing final retail product.
I'm sure you can turn on the console with the controller.
Never made a gif before but I gave it my best shot.
Can you up the brightness and contrast or the curve value of the GIF? And while we're at it, that room needs better lighting/to be better lit to be a showcase area.

Dear god I've seen this example pop up so many times. PSP was downclocked for battery life reasons.
There is very little reason, if any, to keep a home console downclocked. If they tested the chips at 2Ghz after leaving the factory, they'll be set at 2Ghz. Why would you purposefully ship a console under the spec you manufactured at?
PSP chips were all validated to work at the higher clock and only limited in the first wave of software to preserve battery life. Home consoles don't have battery life as a concern and what I said before remains true: the decision has to be made ahead of time. You can't push an update to hardware if you haven't already tested every single system for that speed.
PS4 is downclocked so they can make a surprise attack against MS when ND game releases. Unleash the 3Ghz Uncharted 4.Dear god I've seen this example pop up so many times. PSP was downclocked for battery life reasons.

Just for you:
AMD sells chips this time, they didn't license it (probably it isn't even possible with x86).
How come yelds are their problem?
In regards to the PS4..I'm simply stating that I find it VERY HARD (impossible even) to believe that 1.6ghz/800mhz is the absolute limit of what is safe on the PS4's silicon...
The fact remains...the PSP had its clock speed increased...as has the Xbone...

We know for a fact that the jaguar cores can take more than 1.6ghz...and we know the GPU can take more than 800mhz...
I'm not arguing against that...however I don't buy for a second the PS4 couldn't handle an upclock similar to the Xbone
Because they can? First party devs ask for it? Too much power is never enough right? But why would Sony increase the clock speed for a pretty minimal gain but potential stability, when their overall system has quite a few advantages already?
Sony designers did a tremendous job with PS4. Even stand has ventilation shafts, perfectly aligned to the openings on the PS4's "deathstar canyon".

Awesome work. Presence of PS4 was short, but effective.

Again, I refuse to believe that the entire design does not have a healthy "safety margin" built in...The silicone itself can surely handle it, but if the cooling can't then it's irrelevant.
We all make fun of Fox but i kept the show in the background, and that gal is quite knowledgeable. She sees Ratchet and asks Sucker Punch guy what is Ratchet doing there....
She knew that but she didn't know the word controller? dats pretty funny doh
