I think I saw LeBron James sign Redd to a seven year deal after halftime...

Anderson Varajao, Lucious Harris, LeBron James, Sasha Pavlovic, DeJuan Wagner, Luke Jackson are out...

The Cavs are down to seven players. Anyone here want a 10 day contract?

New PRs:

1 (1) Spurs 36-10 Comforting thought as Spurs hit the road: Entering the weekend, the teams left on their home schedule have the league's lowest combined winning percentage at .433.

2 (2) Suns 35-10 What a difference a Nash makes? Suns have topped 120 points 12 times already; in the previous seven seasons they did it 10 times.

3 (3) SuperSonics 30-12 The good news: Karl's arrival in Denver means the list of teams that can woo Ray away just got one shorter. The bad news: Ray says his uncertain future is starting to be a distraction.

4 (5) Kings 30-13 Kings have closed the gap on division-leading Phoenix, but they have to fear a re-widening if Webb and Peja stay in street clothes with Bobby Jax . . . and with 12 of the next 17 on the road.

5 (6) Heat 33-13 Jim Jackson was on Miami's wish list and Zo still might be. Had they acquired both, Miami would have boasted the top four picks from the '92 draft, along with Shaq and Laettner.

6 (4) Mavericks 28-14 The good news: Dampier had two double-doubles in three games, on a bad knee. The bad news: Dallas lost both games, including a deflating home defeat to Sixers sans AI.

7 (9) Grizzlies 25-20 Who needs a second scorer? Memphis is on a 13-3 run even though Pau is Czar Fratello's only player above 12.3 ppg.

8 (10) Pistons 26-18 New York might be his dream job, but here's Larry Brown's reality: His current players can't help but be ticked to be incessantly nit-picked -- and then hear Lar gush about Knick mystique.

9 (11) Timberwolves 24-20 Now that they've got the lineup straightened out, with Wally going to the bench so Hassell can start, perhaps Wolves can fix this little problem . . . a 7-11 record against the East after a 24-6 mark last season.

10 (7) Cavaliers 26-17 LBJ is an unquestioned MVP candidate. The questionable part is Cavs' lack of quality wins -- beating Memphis was their first W over a .500-or-better team since before Christmas.

11 (12) Rockets 24-21 Ever since they came to Dallas and posted a 124-point night in the committee's presence, Rockets have only scored 100 twice in the past nine games, going 6-4 in that span.

12 (13) Magic 24-19 Stevie Franchise prefers to be called Steve-O now. Isn't Matt Winer's NBA Fastbreak nickname for him (Stevie New Franchise) better?

13 (8) Wizards 26-17 The eight-game home winning streak is gone, and they've taken a dip, but Wiz are hanging in without Hughes (4-4). And Arenas' All-Star case only gets stronger.

14 (16) Bulls 22-20 There's a reason why, in Week 3, we questioned Bulls' ability to rally from an 0-9 start. Reason being: Chicago is the first team EVER to open 0-8 and then surpass .500.

15 (14) Lakers 23-19 It's safe to say they're starting to miss Kobe. New Jersey was the third East team to win at Staples, compared to zero last season.

16 (17) Nuggets 19-25 Don't forget that, before everything unraveled, Furious George turned Bucks into a playoff team after seven seasons out of the playoffs. So don't be shocked if he turns Denver around, too.
:D :D That almost makes up for the horrible loss on Saturday night.

BTW, nice tag, Eminem. :lol

Feb 9 at Houston
Feb 13 at Minnesota
Feb 15 vs Sacramento
Feb 16 at Toronto
Feb 22 vs Miami

...and they have 5 back-to-backs in March with 18 total games in the month. But they're young, so they can handle it! :)

I'm a page late here with my comments. But I would absolutely love to see Nash get MVP. When is the last time a PG got the award? When is the last time a white PG from Canada got the award?
And the way he is playing right now he deserves it. But I think it would be really hard for the NBA to not give it someone more marketable. If Lebron takes the Cavs to the conference finals and the Suns don't get as far then Lebron will get it over him. Of course I'm assuming that no one else will step up and show that they deserve it over those two guys.

First of all, it's a regular season award so nothing they do in the playoffs matter. Also, the NBA doesn't decide the MVP, 126 sportswriters have votes IIRC...

Yeah, I'm not new to this but everyone understands how these voters can be influenced. And the award is not voted on until after the second round is done. So um... I'm pretty sure some voters take that into consideration.

That's incorrect. I don't have an exact timetable but the vote usually starts during the last few weeks of the regular season with a deadline of ending shortly after the regular season or just before the regular season ends. The results aren't announced right away, though. One by one, the name of winners will trickle out (Defensive Player, Sixth Man, MVP, All NBA, etc).

Last year it was announced Garnett won the MVP award a few days after they beat the Nuggets in the first round, and was presented with the trophy before the first game against Sacramento.

Did we talk about the Mo Peterson no look(headband over eyes) layup? Pretty cool.

Is the free League Pass preview over? At least I won't miss those stupid commentators praising their sucky teams.

Wow, Jon Barry is torching the Celts in the 4th!

Oh and...

In the latest episode of an athlete pitching a cure for ED (erictile dysfuction) , Knicks guard Jamal Crawford was inked to a 2-year deal to endorse LEVITRA. Former NFL coach Mike Ditka is also under contract with the company, and Viagra is pitched by baseball star Rafael Palmero. Crawford said it was "hard" coming out about his struggles with ED, but said he is proud to be tackling the problem. His agent could not be reached for comment.

OMG!!!!!

I'm watching ESPNEWS and they just showed a division 3 game where a team was losing by 1 and the winnning team was shooting a free throw with 1 second left. They missed the free throw and a guy grabed the rebound and threw it from court to court and made it for the win. WOW!!

Well, I don't really consider this a "L" for Seattle seeing as how they were missing both their coach Nate McMillan and star player and 25ppg scorer, Ray Allen.

In conclusion, fuck the Spurs.

Astrolad, what do you think of these picks for tomorrow?

Miami
Denver
Utah
Phoenix
Lakers

Haha I was just looking for my one game for tomorrow. My one game tonight was LAC (-6.5) over NYK and god-damn that was fucking scary (Clips up only 3 with 14 fucking seconds left, winning by 7 on a meaningless pair of FTs from Mikki Moore and a last-second miss by Nazr Mohammed).

I'll flesh out some of my thoughts here.
In order of certainty:

OK, take into consideration that I am a Suns fan trying to be objective but I think the Suns game is as close to a lock as possible tomorrow. The Grizz just played a tough close game tonight and are only giving 5.5 to the Suns, who blew out a decent home team (the Raps) two nights ago and has a day of rest? Imo that line should by closer to 7 or 8, but don't worry b/c though it's up everywhere else my fucking Suns-Grizz line isn't up yet. Grrrr. Anyway I think Suns is a good pick. No matter what you do get in before it moves, which I'm sure it will to 6 or 6.5 at least, probably 7 by gametime.

Utah line's not up (anywhere I usually check), so I'll just throw the only other game I have any confidence in here- Minny. They are giving four against a fucking TERRIBLE Bucks team. I watched these guys play the Bron-less Cavs and they make the Knicks look like the 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team in terms of heart. imo Minny will be pissed after the Kings ass-whipping and easily cover this low spread.

Denver is hot. I made some money off them since the first Karl game back. But fucking 9 points? Makes sense considering it's NY (made tons betting against them this week), but I mean what can I say about a 9 pt spread? The only thing I would do with that is take the points if a team with at least some heart (e.g. Charlotte) against a mediocre team. For what it's worth I couldn't in good conscience bet on the Knicks. If you have to bet this game I think you should be good as long as Crawford doesn't go off and make the Knicks lose by 7 or some BS.

Lakers. Ick. This Lakers team is limp as fuck. They are playing the turmoil-filled Jailblazers, but then again they beat the Clips when all that Mo Cheeks shit started so who knows. These are some weak-ass teams, if anything I'd take the under, but it's not a bad bet to bet on a Blazers Apocalypse. I'm personally waiting for it to happen. Though giving 4 is a bit much for these Lakers.

Miami. This is the one game where I'd probably go the other way from you. I can just see the Mavs easily covering the 3.5 they are giving. Granted they lost to fucking Philly at home but I would be scared of a bounce-back game for these Mavs at home. In their first meeting w/ Miami they beat them by 10 in Miami (way back in November). This is really just one of those gut feeling games and I don't think the Heat will be as up for this as the were for the Rockets game.

I'm assuming you are picking against the spread, too.

I dunno much about betting lines but I'll tell you exactly what'll happen in the games so just go from there :p

Miami - Will get DESTROYED in Dallas. Are you kidding me? Did you see what the Mavs did to them in their own house earlier this year? :lol

Denver - Should beat the Knicks easily

Utah - Okafor ain't playing. This could get pretty ugly for the Cats. Correction...this WILL get pretty ugly for the Cats! >_<

Phoenix - Gasol is out. Grizz barely beat Atlanta and NO. Suns will rape them...

Lakers - I hate to say it but Lakers will lose this game badly. Miles being out helps but they still have no answer for Ratliff and Randolph up front. Plus the Blazers guards will piss all over the Lakers shitty zone D :(

Hmm maybe ill do a Phoenix/Utah/Bulls parlay

or just bet a lot on the Suns

I thought randolph and ratliff have been injured?

Nope... Miles will be out though.

PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS - Guard Derek Anderson (tooth ache [:lol]) is questionable for
Tuesday's game against the LA Lakers. Forward Darius Miles (suspension) is
eligible to return on Wednesday against Denver. Forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim
(elbow), guard Viktor Khryapa (foot), and center Vladimir Stepania (knee) are
on the injured list.

According to The Oregonian newspaper, Miles repeatedly called Cheeks a racial epithet and shouted that he didn't care if the Blazers lost 20 games in a row.

Many of the Blazers said they felt they needed to rally around Cheeks, who was outwardly shaken up by the incident.

Now that's a team you want to put your money on! To be honest though it seems like the only major problem is Miles.

I was half-watching their win against the Clips (who beat the Lakers 2 nights earlier) the other night. Randolph and Ratliff played but Pryzbilla was logging heavy minutes cos he's been playing well lately...

If you think DA's tooth ache is funny, how about Drew Gooden who sat out several games last year cos of ingrown hairs or some shit :lol
