Yeah, it's one thing to not like a trailer, it's far more cynical to dislike the trailer so much that you are surprised other people might like it.

The Cynic's War On Enthusiasm is never ending. Just make sure your weapons are always fully loaded.

Some quick impressions

+ Trailer looks good. Much better than the reveal trailer, now that it has somewhat sunk in.
+ Star Lord
+ Storyline looks interesting

- The God awful CGi is still irking
- Trained raptors

Dinousaurs + bikes, everything is as it should be.

Maybe the writers had a few sessions of Cadillacs & Dinosaurs while writing this?

CG in the GotG and Godzilla trailers did not look too good, but was incredible in the theatrical releases.

It will continue improving leading up to release, so chill out folks.

Ehh. I still don't think it looks all that good. Whether I see it will depend on reviews. 2 and 3 kind of ruined this franchise for me.

Even when I was a kid, I always identified with the adults in the movie/book more than the kids. But yeah of course they'll have kids there...makes even more sense as it's actually an open park.
Exactly. I never understood why kids are shoved into these films when I'm willing to bet 99% of the children who watch these movies don't care for them either. I was the same way, not caring about the kids and more interested and identifying with the adults.

That TV spot was much better than the trailer. The CG still looks bad, but I guess we have to wait until its release to see if it will be improved. Still, that shot with the Hybrid about to chomp on the soldier looked bad, not just because of the CG, but it looks like the guy isn't even reacting. The whole movie looks bad like TLW and JP3, and the characters will probably suck, too.

So naturally, I'll be there day 1.

Love this.

Just get rid of the actors and make the whole fucking movie CG.

Yeah, why the fuck use CGI raptors when there are perfectly fine live Raptors waiting to be on film. There are animal trainers specialized in getting Raptors prepped for the movie business and Universal categorically ignores them, most notably Phil Tippett.

I can't wait for the sequel Jurassic Justice starring Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise and Nick Nolte.

Seriously I'm not joking. It could be the best tonal shift since Alien to Aliens.

Some people are so hard to please...

"CGI is bad"
"kid actors can't act"
"shit trailer"
"trained raptors? wtf?"
"crappy animatronic's head"
"no feathers, no buy"
"this movie is going to be fucking horrible"

Glad I don't like in this pessimism world they live in.

I know... opinions and all that, but still, it's like all i see in this thread is that.
To be fair, in the past 3 or 4 years CG has gotten really, really weird. I remember a thread popped up on here not long ago about it. It's like it passed a point a few years ago that now everything looks fake again. Maybe now it looks too close so it doesn't look right anymore? I don't know, it's confusing.

I've decided to no longer let these reboots/remakes etc. upset me. Obviously Hollywood wants them done, so what can we do?

I'll see it for sure, because its related to one of my favorite films of all time. But I'm also keeping it split in my mind from the original cannon. Works better that way, even if seeing domesticated Raptors makes me laugh and cry at the same time.

I don't really like the trailer, but I've learned over the years that I don't really like trailers and it doesn't seem to affect how I feel about the movie when I see it. So I'm gonna have to wait to figure this flick out.

I'll be seeing this opening day with my son. We both love the series (Yes, even part 3 is entertaining to us despite how "dumb" the plot is.)

What's your problem with that scene?

It's not like they can get real raptors?

It just looks so obvious that Pratt filmed this in front of a green screen and the only real thing in that scene is him. If you're going to George Lucas a movie, just replace the actors with CG and the entire movie would look far more consistent.

Ehm, this is Chris Pratt on set, with Raptors CG'd into the shots.

Everything in that scene, minus the raptors, is real. IIRC that set was built near NASA in New Orleans.

The only scene with CG foliage (which I agree is shit) is the river kayaking scene.

Okay, great, but what does that have to do with Jurassic World?

You know what I mean, more of the Hollywood cash grab with these sequels, remakes, reboots.

But this series always hits my nostalgia bone hardcore. Just re-read the novels not too long ago.

Looking at positive responses, baffled.

That looked like a worst case scenario for me. I can't believe they had Pratt play this straight. "WE GO AFTER IT WITH EVERYTHING WE'VE GOT!!!"

"Shall we take the helicopter and high powered rifles? Track it safely from the air and shoot it from distance to minimise risk?"

"no, motorbike and trained raptors is the way to go"

Is an iTunes version available yet? The iTunes version of the first trailer was much higher quality than YT.

The irony is, the people here in the real world are hyped for the new Jurassic Park because they want to see dinosaurs on the big screen. More than 20 years later people still want that. Noone is like "Oh, they made up a hybrid? Awesome! Real dinosaurs bore me now, but a hybrid? In my veins." But somehow, in thw fictive world of Jurassic Park, people have grown tired of dinosaurs and want a hybrid? It feels off.

I disagree. It's not enough to just have dinosaurs back on the "big screen". JP2 and JP3 did this, as have some other movies. We're never going to recapture the effect that JP had, as a whole.

In addition, I am pretty sure this movie takes place
a decade after the park has been open.

GAF Visual FX QA Squad never fails to disappoint.

second post on this page :)

Bryce Dallas character is giving major Deep Blue Sea vibes actually wait a sec, Pratts character is giving me Patrick Jane vibes from that movie also.

Still day one for this looks fun as fuck

That part is actually what interests me most.

Jurassic Park happened. It was a bloody fantastic film. You are never going to be able to capture that sense of wonder and excitement we had as kids again. So you have to move on.

To me the idea of how this universe has essentially become jaded to dinosaurs after decades with them actually seems like a really interesting thematic contrast with the original film, and I think makes a good point about us in general—everything's awesome, until it's familiar and boring.

The film might not actually do anything worthwhile with that theme, mind you, but from a conceptual standpoint it's far stronger than anything in The Lost World or JP3.

Trailer was definitely better than the original, don't think it's that great overall... but I'm amazed at how often great films actually have lousy trailers (when it seems common wisdom is if you can't make a good trailer out of a film, the film must be really, really, bad.)

I liked this trailer better than the first one.

The whole trained raptor thing is hilarious to me.
Is it any more ridiculous than this?
Considering we can train or least condition intelligent animals like chimps and dogs, why is it stupid that one could train and condition raptors, which the movies have always portrayed as chimp-level smart?

It's a small thing but I like how big the raptors look, as if they've been alive for several years.

I am a little more excited than after the teaser.

Not to mention it looks like those Raptors want to and would kill Pratt if he makes the wrong move.

I view it as the raptors know they in danger due to D-Rex hunting for fun so making a uneasy alliance for dominance be the main smart predators.

I think showing that raptors can be trained, in some capacity, aligns them more with being actual animals vs scary predators, which some people really dislike. (Conversely, this exact point is why I'm worried about the I-Rex being a bloodthirsty killer).

Deal with it. When you train a wolf, it doesn't become a dog. Similarly, we're not going to get a scene of Pratt hanging out in his jungle shack with a raptor lounging in his hammock.

Not to mention it looks like those Raptors want to and would kill Pratt if he makes the wrong move.

This. Trevorrow and maybe even Pratt have already specifically said the raptors are NOT "tamed".

I feel the same way. The issue is that I don't really see Universal caring to delve into this idea. I would love to be wrong, but I think we're just in for an hour 45 minute action romp across a chaotic theme park.

I can't wait to see the movie.

The whole Jurassic Park concept is so outrageous anyway, I don't know why people have such a big problem with the raptor whispering.
