Konami preparing for the next MGS

Obligatory

Personally, I disliked Phantom Pain a lot, and that was with Kojima at the helm. I can't imagine it being much improved without him, but the possibility is there. I don't believe anyone else has the eye for detail that he does however.

Having played all the MGS games this year for the first time, I'm of the belief that there hasn't been a truly meaningful or even good Metal Gear game since MGS3. Losing Kojima on the series doesn't hurt my soul any worse than Peace Walker already did. I had hoped MGSV would be different, but I feel like Metal Gear as a series is already a decade past its prime.

I think I would RATHER somebody take over the series and let Kojima do something else, but this is absolutely one of those "not like this" situations.

Looking forward to another. I enjoyed MGS5 but story wise it felt shallow. I do love the concept of the gameplay, fob and side-ops stuff but man it felt like a drag to get too the end.

I didn't like it either, but I have no idea how much Konami actually meddled with the product. This is why I'll never be able to fully pin everything on Kojima. Knowing Konami as they are, there's really no telling. Or it could have been minimal to nothing and Kojima just all of a sudden felt like making a bloated, soulless mess structured to make the player participate in menial tasks for hours on end, a design with the hope of forcing players to buy DLC.

So... again, who knows. Anything's possible really. But the ends of whatever roads are the same. Game was trash, Kojima is gone, Konami blows, why on earth would I even bother or care about it going forward. All good will got thrown out with the bath water this time.

The newspaper adds that Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, who is apparently on vacation, has not said whether or not he’ll be involved in the next title.

He'll build a new studio, to create His new games while Konami Will keep on carrying what now rapresents His phantom:the MGS Series.

Hideo Kojima: The Man Who Sold Konami.

I love the fact Konami is still telling everyone that Kojima's just taking a vacation. It's either denial that they are parting ways or that they are going to try to make him a contractor on the next MGS game.

Dude needs to move on and not even look at Konami in the rear view if you ask me.

Guessing it'll be an Assassin's Creed style sequel that comes out Fall 2017 that is almost mechanically identical to MGSV with some new minor mechanics and new weapons/vehicles/buddies.

MGSV actually has incredible mechanics, though. The Fox Engine knocks any Assassin's Creed gameplay out of the park.

I just want a freaking jungle setting next time. Or MGS3 remade.

"I knew I could count on this, Zach. It never fails."

But seriously, who else can direct a (proper) MGS title? Nojiri? Kimura?

Rev up those open world entries. Maybe the next game will find a balance between cutscene and gameplay instead of going all or nothing?

Its almost adorable how in denial Konami is over this Kojima thing. Its like a jealous Ex-boyfriend. "I don't want her but nobody else can have her either!"

MGSV: Outer Heaven, is the direct sequel of the game of the year 2015 award winner MGSV:the phantom pain. Play as Big Boss while building your new base:eek:uter heaven, and fight the new menace of liquid snake and psycho mantis.

Ugh. Chapter 3 is now a full priced new title.

They've always managed to do solid things with the Metal Gear brand between Ghost Babel, Ac!d and Rising. When the news broke in March, I didn't want anything to do with them, but who knows, I may find the new game to be more enjoyable than V.

Will be looking forward to the Metal Gear Solid Legacy slot machine at a nearby casino.

Oh, you mean a new game? Yeah, good luck with that, guys. I wouldn't have touched MGSV if I'd been paid to do so, and have no interest in any future titles... but other people might bite. Be sure to keep that budget in check!

"Snake you're new mission is to infiltrate Las Vegas and prevent a global gambling conspiracy set up by the AI Cipher. You are to go in without any equipment save for these few gambling chips. You're new code name for this mission is Pachinko Snake."

"SNAKE! You've been detected! You need to pull the level before backup arrives and finds you!"

Eh, who am I kidding. I'm sure it'll be cynical, recycled and full of f2p-style bullshit, but I'll still probably play it. I'm still hungry for more of that Fox Engine goodness...

Ughhhh

I will only buy it if it's a remake of MG1 and 2. Doubt I would even buy it. Even if Kojima was somehow involved, I'd probably sit this one out.

Like, let it fucking go. It should've ended with 4. Jesus.

Fox engine is already made, and top class gameplay implemented. If they can get another team in to just make a MGS6: Super Cool Missions pack, I'd be interested. I played MGS1 - 4 mainly for their story. I entered MGSV for the story, but ended up staying for the incredible gameplay. If they can offer more great and varied gameplay in that style, I'm in.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Funny thing is if Konami ask Kojima to do another despite being fired I think he would do it.

No thanks, playing a new main Metal Gear entry not made by Kojima would be like reading a new GOT book not written by George Martin.

Some spin-off like Rising could work, but after everything that has happened this year I'm never buying another game from Konami anyway.
